Good Morning!!!! 47F @ 7:45AM. A mix of clouds and sun. High 62F. Winds light and variable.
Still no rain in the 10-day, and TV weather guesser's long range outlook was for dryer and warmer than normal. La Nina isn't living up to the promises here in NorCal.

I'll add my voice to the Happy Thanksgiving chorus; indeed, there is a LOT to be thankful for.

Got an email update from Starlink, complaining about chip shortages but announcing a new, smaller, and easier to manufacture dish assembly. But now they've pushed availability in this area back to mid 2022.

I got the cover off the transmission again yesterday, then started cleaning the grease off the shim stacks. One stack only had one shim in it, another had too many. Classic brain fart on my part, and good thing I triple checked my work. Still didn't like the idea of using grease to hold the shims in place, so instead made up a pair of studs from all thread to guide the cover back into place so it wouldn't disturb the shims. Worked perfectly, and now transmission shifts and spins like it should. Now it's on to service the clutch and oil pump before the transmission goes back in.

Took the bird out of the freezer yesterday to thaw and it's ready to go. Somewhere around here is a rotisserie attachment for the BBQ that I don't recall using before, so I'll see if I can get it going. Only gonna be me at the table; being a single it's always a bit awkward joining another family for their celebration, not to mention traveling for the weekend, and it's just easier and more enjoyable to stay on my own. I'm dodging leftovers by preparing a single Cornish game hen.

44F and raining @ 11:00, temperature will likely be heading down for the rest of the day.

Heading over to a small gathering of extended family (around 8 of us total I think) in a nearby community not far away.

The hostess doesn't eat meat ... but her husband does and is preparing a turkey ...

We're supposed to eat at 13:00 ... which seems kinda early to me (we never ate Thanksgiving Dinner that early ... so it seems more like Thanksgiving Lunch ... )

Anyways should be a good time ... first family gathering we will have been to since COVID arrived.

We'll be taking a duck which has been in the oven all morning, along with a green bean casserole and a sheet cake which I made last night.

I'm currently on call to assist with the part of the duck cooking where the duck gets taken out of the oven, the Cointreau gets poured in and lit on fire. Should be interesting ...

I was watching the parade for about an hour and was disappointed. Between the live performances and commercials very few floats were shown.

The house smells insanely good, Turkey, bread, giblet gravy, potatoes- all cooking at once.
Youngest son and fiancé, daughter and her dog are here oldest son, wife and grandson will be here shortly. Everyone is here now.

Gray2 got his Christmas present early this year. It’s a heated cat bed. He is eating less every day and getting weak. We are spoon feeding him but he has lost his appetite. He is 16 years old.

Has he been checked for diabetes? Our 16 yo stopped eating also. Once we discovered it was diabetic and on insulin it has really sprung back to itself and eats good now.

Yes, it really was disappointing compared to years past. What was REALLY disappointing was the National Dog Show afterwards. They consolidated each group showing only a few dogs from each group. Most of the ones that were shown on air didn't even make the judges' cut.

We had a great thanksgiving dinner! This was the first year that we didn't make a full turkey, only breasts. I picked them up at Costco, precooked..."oven roasted". We all agreed that it was the best breast meat ever! Everything else was spectacular too! Now I am beached on the sofa....

Good evening all. Hope you all had a Happy Thanksgiving. 41 for the start, clear sky, windy. Sky stayed mostly clear, wind died off some mid-afternoon and high temp was 55F, DP 25F. Have good weather to put up lights in the next few days, will turn them on when up. No family coming over so wife and I had a nice meal at lodge. We spent most of the day together, but did put the speed sensor on indoor trainer, worked well. Did get nap in .

Kitchen installation going well. Waiting for stonemasons to come measure for granite counter top. Barn getting close to finished. Just some front flashings and windows to do. Roller doors working. Still got protective plastic coating on them. Parked the Pony in there for first time. Better pics when rain stops.
