Good Morning.
It’s 74 and going to 84 with chance of rain and thunderstorms.

Yesterday looked like rain all day, but stayed dry. I cleaned up quite a bit in the shop, quite a bit of time around the welding table, getting ready for the arrival of the new TIG machine. Ended up disassembling the Miller Radiator torch cooler to clean it out and flush the coolant lines because it had restricted flow. Turned out to be the suction screen inside the tank. Of course the irony is that the new machine comes with an air cooled torch.

Today will start off in the shop, but might end up in Lexington, KY. There’s a fair chance I’ll have to go late this afternoon and return tomorrow. With that in mind, I ought to get moving and head over there and get started.

On the subject of greasing, it’s interesting how different the design of my mowers is. As I mentioned the Exmark has two fittings that take a couple pumps every couple of months. The 3PT LandPride finish mower gets the casters, spindles and U Joints greased for a total of 9 fittings every 10-15 Hours. The big Progressive pull behind mower has at least 50 fittings and takes about a tube of grease every 10 hours. Couldn’t imagine keeping it greased without a cordless grease gun.

I will reach out Ken, as it turned out I never made it yesterday, I never made it yesterday, went down a rabbit hole in the shop with the TIG cooler. But they have a recurring Sunday afternoon gig there.

Good morning.

At the farm today waiting on a service call from alarm company. I think the same storm that took out the garage opener did something to the alarm.

The alarm is not communicating back to the alarm company. I have no idea how to fix.

So, I wait.

Hope all in the path of Ida are safe. The pictures are horrible.

We should have a pretty good week weather wise - some rain today/tomorrow but lower temps and after tomorrow lower humidity.

Sept. is a busy months for our tennis tournaments. One every week for 4 straight weeks. Keeps us busy and out of trouble!

not enough people returning to the workforce

One of the good news stories I read recently was about people who used the pandemic break to consider their future and upgrade to a better job. I don't know how many people that is but their are an awful lot of dead end jobs. It is amazing how many ads there are in the paper for $15 plus jobs these days.

Interesting the comments about Amazon deliveries. Since they opened a distribution center about 3 miles from me. All my Prime deliveries have been within 2 days. Some even same day. Orders that are not Amazon (UPS, USPS AND FEDEX) delivered can take up to a week.

I ordered a small item from them more than a year ago, but in the past week, I have dealt with them again, and it's not going well and I cannot contact anyone there.

75F and cloudy 12:00, heading up to a high of 84F. Only calling for a 15% chance of rain, looks like most all the rain is way to the south, down below Columbus, OH ... hopefully it will stay there.

Ten Day forecast looking good - much cooler high temps. Chances of rain are less than 25% until the last day. Of course that might change depending on the track that the hurricane takes.

Need to refill feeders and feed fish, both overdue.

Also need to schedule some bills for payment and get some stuff in the mail.

Have to go over to a neighbor's here in a little bit who needs some lawn work done and see exactly what it is they need, and what the conditions currently are. Part of it can likely be done now, part of it will likely have to wait until later, after things dry up some.

Very pleased with how the lawn "restoration" is progressing here, although I'm sure that a lot of it has to do with the amount of rain we've gotten (as opposed to anything I've done)

Tracking soil temp, will over-seed once it drops to 65F degrees.

Today will probably be a good day to finish up working that east planting bed (due to the soil moisture)

Maybe more work on mortaring up the shop walls.

Mix up another tank of juice for the sprayer and fill 65 gallon tank.

Probably too wet for any work on spreading screened composted soil for the new planting bed east of the frog pond but the new iris can be inspected and have the first pruning of their foliage done.

Also rake out new planting bed on west side of frog pond.

Need to go over bulb/plant order with The Woman. She will probably blow a gasket when she finds out how many bulbs will need to be planted (... It's only 575 bulbs Hon ... )

As always, no shortage of other stuff that needs doing as well.

73°F and cloudy this morning, going up to 88° today. Was awakened in the early morning hours this morning by two things; a very active thunderstorm, and one of the dogs trying desperately to crawl behind a chair in the bedroom that we'd blocked her from crawling behind in an effort to hide from the thunder monster.

We made some changes to the kitchen on Saturday. The Wife was wanting to make some more room for when we open up the table when we have guests, so she decided to get rid of the large china cabinet that she's had for years, and found a smaller corner one to replace it. She's giving all of her china service to her niece, and she decided she'd take the cabinet, too. So, we took the hutch off and moved the whole thing to the basement porch until she can come pick it up, then picked up the new one from a lady in Collinsville IL, who is selling all her mother's stuff, who is in a nursing home now. The lady was nice enough, but insisted that we wear masks while in the house, even as she kept pulling hers down every time she talked. It's a nice cabinet, and much smaller than the one it replaces. It definitely freed up some room against that wall. The table almost looks small in there now.

Sunday morning I filled the gas cans in town and started mowing in the late morning. Five hours later, I was finishing up in the pasture just as the dark clouds were rolling in. We got all of about five sprinkles of water from them. From the looks of things this morning, I don't think we got much rain overnight either. I stirred up a lot of dust while mowing. We surely could use some rain here.

No apologies necessary, Eric. As already noted, most of our Native Americans (including my Wife, who is Choctaw & Cherokee) don't get nearly as easily offended as the non-natives who purport to be offended for them. They've been called much more offensive things than Indian. My comment was not meant to chide. Sorry if it came across that way.

I would think a ZT is what you’d want with arthritis, as you don’t need to grip the sticks like you do a steering wheel, just kind of lay your hands on top. I don’t close my hands around the sticks.

I wear gloves and really don’t need to grip the tillers. I also have two bad shoulders.

Nope.

It's still there ... it likely won't get touched until we move into a different season where the weather prevents doing much work outdoors.

Unlike some folks, we are not blessed with great weather year 'round here in the Buckeye ...

Looks like the alarm circuit board was fried - just like the garage opener.

The guy has a new board on the truck. $100.

I guess if lightning hit close by I should be thankful only the alarm and garage opener were damaged.

Ate my first green pepper today, right off the vine.

A fine looking crop you have there. And for something I consider rather odd . . . my younger brother likes stuffed peppers BUT he don't eat the pepper, just likes the stuffing cooked in the pepper.

And for me . . . I like stuffed peppers and I certainly eat the entire thing, and I don't care whether the peppers are boiled first to tenderize them or whether they're still firm and crispy. Love'em.

Wife canned more tomatoes, but said that’s all she’s doing.
She did 17 qts green beans and 16 qts tomatoes. Not as many as we used to do, but we still got some from prior years.

Very heavy rain on way home, another heavy rain 5 miles south of us, but only .25” at the house.

Went in late today, been having sinus headaches ever since I mowed the weeds across the creek. Kept me up a few hours in the night.

72° and 94% humidity. I see ida is still over Mississippi and Alabama, will get here Wednesday they say. Lots of storms in front of it, coming from NW direction
