Good morning!!!!

   / Good morning!!!! #13,421
Well hello again folks!

No, my internet has not been down, I have not been posting lately because other things have gotten in the way and I haven't had all that much spare time.

As I think I said in my last post here, I have managed to get a job. It isn't a fully paid job as it is technically a training placement, but it has the prospect of leading onto a full paid job at the end of this year. It is in an estate agency (real estate as you Americans call it) and I've been there since the 29th of July, so about 3 weeks now. Things are going well and it has given me some hope.

That is about the only good thing that has happened though, as everything else has been going wrong. Unpaid bills are mounting up and making the payments is crippling, the car's Road Tax expired on the 31st of July and it has been off the road since because we cannot afford to renew it, we're still in temporary accommodation with no guarantee of a permanent house at the end of it, and my health is further deteriorating as a result of all this stress.

Still, the only thing for it is to keep on living each day as it comes and wait for the light to appear at the end of this very, very long tunnel.

As they say, the darkest time is just before the dawn. Lets hope so.

I will try and post here daily again as I have missed it but I just didn't want to burden you all with my problems when there are others with far worse issues right now.

Hope everybody is doing OK and life is treating you kind.

Bye for now.

~Jamie.

Wayne, I don't grow potatoes anymore, but love seeing them from people who do. Post a picture if you can/want to, please.

Drew: Property taxes are probably similar here, but we have no state and no city income taxes. Of course, school taxes are the biggest. Our county taxes are really reasonable.

65 F and still this morning. . . a good day for watering the yard and garden.:)

Hey Jim I will get some pictures later this week. I only planted two varieties this year, Yukon Golds and Norland Reds, plus we decided a few years back to stop selling potatoes so I only planted a couple hundred pounds of seed potatoes. We have them for the neighbors, friends and family now. Still a fair amount of work with only that many potatoes!

Sam; Prayers that your MIL improves and does so quickly.

I mowed the lawn, this morning. Hadn't had to do that for a few weeks. Nice workout, pushing that mower around. Climbed on the JD 1050 after the lawn, and hogged a small pasture that had a lot of weeds that were getting ready to bloom and go to seed. Now I am doing the indoors chores.

Have a great afternoon, y'all!

FarmGirl,
it's Sunday, slow down and rest awhile. Sit in the a/c in your recliner, drink some iced cold iced tea, and have your feet rubbed by your personal
masseur. Doze off awhile, while you dream of riding your horse on the beach, galloping through the waves.

C'mon, you can do it. You outwork most of us that's for sure. And then when you wake, one or two studly farm genies will
visit and mow your fields, clean out the barns, scrub your house from top to bottom, and do so pleasantly and cheerfully.
Oh, the genies were in your dream...sorry.:confused3:

maybe they are TBN farm genies. As far as studly farm genies, I'm sure we could get a few volunteers.
Course they'd have to come from Texas or they wouldn't understand you. Or at least from the South. ;)

Afternoon all. 1545. Cloudy, 83 with 83% humidity. Forecast if for a high of 90 with a 70% chance of rain. We have had a few showers, but nothing like the last two days.

Another late night at work last night, but I did sleep in until 0900. That was nice. I had to go back in for about an hour. I took some pictures at the Willis Bridge Park. The Chipola River has come up 10 feet in the last 48 hours. {my camps are not in danger for six more feet. They forecast only one or two more feet.} The sun was even shining when I stopped, but there were no tubers today.

I looked for a 'before' picture but couldn't find one. The river is spring fed, and is so clear you can see every rock on the bottom most years at this time.

Up at 0530. It was soaking wet yesterday, should start drying out and acting like August after today.

My youngest insisted on trying the pool out when it stopped raining for a few, but it was too cold (and very, very full).

Back to work today! That couple days at OBX was quite a blessing... I wish the clarity I so desire was #1 easier to get, #2 looked good... BUt enough about all of that.

Be well all.
God Bless,
David

Raining this morning quite steady in fact and cool low 60s going to 80 today with showers all day. Rest of week more like August with high 80s for highs maybe a 90 thrown in for good measure. Working out of town rest of week

Has been clear and sunny here for almost a week straight now, so nice to have a break from the rain. Tomato plants are finally beginning to produce (pun intended) and we really enjoy savoring the taste of home grown red fruit. Today I am going to replace the OEM drive belt on my 11 year old Saturn, then change the oil and filter on the GMC. I will hit the big six-two in a few days and qualify to collect Social Security and cannot wait to get my greedy hands on the income. Have a great day, guys...I know I certainly will.

Mossflowerwoods the OBX is a great place to relax recharge yourself and set new goals. Hopeful this time you had will prove helpful to you. Be careful driving in the rain to work today

Got 15 yard of topsoil to move but rain is preventing this from happening. August and September are great months to sow grass seed in our neck of the woods but rain is not cooperating. Best yard we ever had was put in in early fall late summer. Still working on entrance to driveway but this is only thing left to do. It now gets dark at around 8:00 and working out of town gets me home to late to move it and to far to move it in dark

Good morning, 75˚ clear, going to 99˚ Going to pretty up some trees the county butchered on the road. The county did a good job on their side of the fence but they can't quite get a clean cut with a rotary blade. At least they cleared it out so I can see the trees and they hauled their cuttings away.

JDGreen, happy birthday in advance. I know, you only get better looking each year!

I did the SS thing last year, when I hit 62, and what impressed me was how pleasant the local office was.
Everything worked the first time, the money showed up when they said it would, and I got lots of confirming
documents. A first class experience. good thing, after sending them money for more than forty years...
I wonder if ten years from now the experience will be the same for others once the SS system has been hit by repeated expense reductions.

JDGreen happy early birthday and enjoy collecting your SS sure you've earned it. Still have a couple of years to go myself two years seven weeks to be exact

Still working on entrance to driveway but this is only thing left to do
Buppies, is the driveway entrance the picture in your avatar? Looks nice already,
do you have a plan yet for what you want to do?

FarmGirl, I want to know how you made it to Elite membership in six months when you work as hard as you do...
Do you have a laptop in the barn? You are amazing.
Or very talkative...:D
You blew past me a while back like a Mustang GT500 sucking the doors off a Pinto...
Yes, I remembered you like Fords.

May you and all the other fine folk from Texas have a very nice day. It will rain two inches for you between
three and five this afternoon. That's my story and I'm sticking to it. Humma Humma :dance1:

Drew yes it is what you don't see is the stone walls and columns on each side of driveway shrubs and flowers on street side new trees on house side. Behind the picture you see is low because of wall so that is where about half load of the top soil will go. Walls are 14 ft long six ft columns at driveway five foot tall at ends two foot six inches wide. This has been a two year project almost done. This picture is two years old so walls and gate are not in and where dirt is needed is other side
