38F and sunny @ 09:30, heading up to a high of 54F or thereabouts. Snow piles getting smaller each day ... (y)

Big orange cat sitting next to me on the pull-out shelf, just purring away ...

Got appointment made for next Tuesday to have The Woman's car checked out.

Made a good start on cleaning up the family room in the basement yesterday, plenty more to do on it today though.

More tank work done in the fish room as well, ground up and sieved more food for fry last night. Also got about 1/2 of the carpet vacuumed in there.

Have one empty 30G tank in the fish room which is set up and running. Will use that to temporarily house the fish from the 55G in living room so it can be torn down, cleaned, and moved. Still need to figure out where exactly it will go. There's a crop of J. transcriptus fry and juveniles in the 55G so rounding them all up should be a treat ...

Also need to clear out an area back in the utility room and make some space so I can start priming and painting the lumber for the tank racks.

The Woman got notification from county yesterday that she had been "randomly selected" to schedule an appointment for her first dose of vaccine for either Tuesday or Wednesday. Was able to access the website with no problem, but unfortunately there were none available by the time I got on there. So it appears they are still soliciting more folks than the doses they have actually available. Be interesting to see how this develops with the coming increase in vaccine supply.

Hope everyone has an enjoyable, productive, and safe day ... (y)

Warmer today. 40f and not as windy.

The local paper said that some people have tried calling around to local vaccination places late in the day to see if they had any no shows. Sometimes they will give you the shot if you come right down.

My wife had the second Moderna shot yesterday morning. She slept badly last night. Hot and achy. She looked kind of rough this morning. She is going to spend the day taking it easy and watching Netflix.

Hope everyone is taking care.

Chris

I had very little side effects with my first vaccine and virtually nothing with the second. I feel very fortunate after reading about some.

Do you have a link or description of the new spotlight, wngsprd? Can't remember the last time I was on the Midway site. Larry used to get a lot of money from me on a regular basis back when I was shooting and reloading more.
PJ,

Larry has a lot of my money, too...and I always round up for the "charitable" contribution.

This Cyclops is pretty pricey, but I got it at a better price than current. The floodlight function is pretty cool, with an extra LED on the bottom. I didn't try it with the red lens cover on, but will do that tonight.

Randy, I used to have a spotlight like you described that I used in our duck hunting boat. Although I don't think 6K lumen is supposed to be as strong, I think this one is brighter. May be the lens configuration, or my memory.

Still not vaccinated.

Paul, my brother and his wife in New Hope were called two days ago, getting first shot tomorrow.
They are older than you, ? Sorry this is taking so long for you.

Toppop, good luck with your new UTV. Looks super handy and snazzy looking.

Realtor was very pleased with her birdhouse, then found everything I needed at Giant, and home
to yak with neighbor across the street. She brought me a box of Matzoh crackers mumbling something about
buying too many... and said they were good
with butter. Hmmm, empty calories and fat grams. Well thank you and I sure will try them.
I sent her home with my last blueberry apple muffin.
She did mention I could feed the birds with them. Oh yes :)

64°F and .46 inches rain.

Off to HD for my bolts to finish Craftsman repair. Makes for expensive bolts when you make a special 40 mile trip just for 8 bolts. Maybe I’ll get extra.

Today’s goal is to get that repair finished. Only 8 more holes to drill in the 1/4” plate, but they have to be precise. First challenge will be getting the broken frame properly aligned.
I have read where others have welded this break, but I don’t have good welding skills. The plastic gas tank is just inches behind the frame and not a lot of room for grinding which my welding requires. This bolted plates appear to be my best option.

I ordered a Tempest Wx station last night.

Prayers for all
Be safe
Have a great day

Wish Hospital would hurry up and contact me for assessment. I get very little sleep. Up at 2.15 am (72 deg)and the dogs hear me and want out then. 2 sleep in the back laundry and other little one has a bed beside ours. Once I'm up the 2 dogs won't go back to bed so I'm stuck with them. Other little fellow goes out for a pee and then back to bed. He is well behaved.
Main problem with me is pain in my shoulder and down my arm and tingling skin and numb tingling fingers Makes it hard to sleep. So glad at least I don't have to go to work and can catch up during the day if needed.
Add to this my lower back problem and you get the picture. Mobic sort of helps.
Couple of days ago my fingers didn't work and I spilled a whole plate of boiling stew onto my lap. Covered my shorts and T shirt. Made me move real quick. Ripped my clothes off and into shower. Burned my leg which stung for an hour or two. I was lucky this time.
Need to get this sorted before I do real damage. Hands go numb driving the car too.

I thought the 550 lumen Streamlight I bought several years ago was bright! That cyclops is more than 10 times brighter, and a quick Amazon search shows a whole bunch that are even brighter.

How did you settle on the Cyclops, Bill?

Pinched nerve? Hope Dr. can figure out a fix for you that's not too bad.

I had several that were rated at 250000-400000 candle power before I got this one, it’s about thirty years old, they say to convert candela to lumens multiply by 12.57. I have a hard time believing my spotlight has over 12 million lumens.

It’s been 53 so far, quite a turnaround from the 25 this morning. Bright blue skies that look like spring. A bit of breeze. It’s much brighter out than it was six weeks ago, sun is getting more direct. I have to be careful not to get sunburn This time of year.

I started watching a documentary series this morning called Indian Wars, very interesting. It starts pre Colombian and moves through the different periods, a lot of history on how and where they lived.
I haven’t finished the first episode yet, too much to do, but I’ll catch up.

I’m pushing 70, so I’m group 1a.

For a flashlight here’s what I carry. 2000 lumens about the size of a pack of lifesavers.

According to this article, you really can't convert candlepower to lumens because candlepower is a measure of intensity of a spot of light, and lumens is a measure of light in all directions. So that helps explain what you're seeing, Randy.

But now matter how you measure it, there's a LOT of game playing and exaggeration going on by the folks that sell light sources, and it's even more common today with the advent of LEDs. I've had good luck with Surefire, Streamlight, and the economy brand Coast, but near as I can tell, only Streamlight makes a hand held spotlight.

Near as I can figure, a lot of it boils down to the specific LED they're using. There are generations of them, and within a given generation, the LEDs of a given type all have pretty much the same output. Find a trusted manufacturer so you get good construction that will deliver rated output, then wait a year for the output to double and do it all over again...

I didn't do a lot of research or shopping. I wanted a very bright light, rain resistant, with rechargeable batteries, AND had a gift certificate and discount code for Midway, plus like doing business with them. I started out looking for a Streamlight, but they apparently don't make one that bright.

Good morning. It's 46° with an 11 mph north breeze. Our forecast says 63° this afternoon. Yesterday was cold, damp, windy, with rain off and on so .. a dryer day today is welcome.

We've got VFD apparatus checks this evening so .. we'll have to work around all the heavy earth moving machinery presently working on site prep for our new building. There's mud everywhere from our recent rains, snow, ice.

Today is Texas Independence Day and the 185th Anniversary of Texas declaring independence from Mexico on March 2nd .. 1836.

I spent yesterday morning in the big shop trouble shooting one of my air compressors .. a roughly 10 year old Craftsman "oil less".

View attachment 688426

It runs but will not build any pressure in the tank. I removed all the covers and the top of the head .. expecting to see damaged reeds on the valve plate.

View attachment 688431

The reeds look to be okay but .. I went online to partselect.com and ordered a new valve plate, the o-ring for bottom of the VP, the "D" o-ring for the top of the VP, and a piston o-ring JIC. They conformed my order but .. have not yet confirmed a ship date.

Perhaps the "Giddings Compressor Whisperer" will whisper some advise to me.

I've got a Porter-Cable pancake compressor to get me by but .. it's obviously pretty limited. This is probably a "good excuse" to go buy a "real air compressor" somewhere around 5 HP, 240 volts, 60-80 gallons and 14 CFM .. or better at 90 psi.

I trimmed several trees after our bad weather and took down a good sized oak the was leaning onto an even bigger oak. All are in areas, to wet to use tractors w/o lots of damage to fix later.

Hope everyone has a great day.

Prayers to all.
Compressor Central here, You need to look at the cylinder wall, and the piston ring or whatever it has for sealing. Some compressors you can buy a new drop in, thin wall cylinder/piston/lip seal. Your reeds look decent. Need more info.
