Good evening all. 67F this morning, overcast with widely scattered showers in the area, calm wind. Sky remained overcast all day, windy puffy but light, and a high temp of 73F. Been riding extra miles this week, Denton Turkey Roll this Saturday, rumor has the group will do 68 mile loop. Need to start interior noise abatement program in van.

RNG nice pics and trip!

Drew sorry to hear about your dental problems. The last two teeth I had crowned my dentist said going in they may not last due to how close the decay was to the root. 1 year so far, no problems although took a couple off weeks after the work before the teeth quite complaining.

Don, step 1 is to recognize the problem ... :D

Drew
Have to wonder about dental costs...
Talking to a friend yesterday, he is born and raised in a Hilo but lives most of the year in Canada, Canadian wife. She recently needed a lot of dental work, not covered under Canadian health care. Private dentist estimate $18k.
They decided to go to Mexico. 8 crowns - 1450USD. While waiting on his wife, Henry got talking with another dentist in same office and she noticed a chipped tooth and suggested she could fix. Henry told her that at 74 yo he wasn’t up to spending a large amount. She told him 150 USD. Been a couple of months and they are both very happy with the work.

36 right now...high about 40. Forecast calls for a rain/snow mix. We'll see if that happens...

Good morning all, 35 going to 54 and mostly sunny. Going to take it easy again today. Lower back is tight and ok sitting in a chair but hurts standing or doing anything. Might try to figure out the remote on the dust collector.

David, Back in 2000 wife and I were in China and she got a bad sinus infection. We called a Dr and he said get a z-pac. Went to the Rx and got one for less than $3. They were more than 10 times that at home. My Niece and nephew used to go to mexico for their meds but the violence has stopped that.

Have a great day. Ed

Good morning. "Neither use nor ornament" is possibly how my grandma would have described this mornings sunshine. That's what she would call me and and my grandad, though in a kindly manner, if we got in the way in her tiny kitchen while she was doing something. The sun is a welcome sight really, though not bright enough to manage without turning lights on inside, all it's doing is highlighting the dust streaks that rain has left on the windows.

Yesterday I had some work that took me away from home, so the night before I stayed in one of the prettiest little villiges I have ever come across in the Yorkshire dales. Fields with livestock constrained within by dry stone walls instead of wire fences. No mobile reception, yet the pub car park had 4 Tesla car charging points. There was an old fashioned red public telephone box - without a phone. No use, only ornament :)

Eric, you should have tried out that phone box and see if it would time travel for you ;)
beautiful town

Our medical system is so geared to inflated pricing, knowing that insurance companies won't pay that much, sometimes less than half, and yet
those of us running uninsured (dental only here on Medicare) are up to the mercy of the provider. And at a thousand dollars a tooth,
I'd say not much mercy either. I really wanted to ask the Doc if this was a Medicare approved procedure how much he would have been paid.

Appointment at 9am with local Kubota dealer to talk about a new F series mower. Likely to take back all the mowing next year and go back to just having helpers do the weedeating. Too much money to spend every year on help. So I'm considering a larger mower to cut down the time, I have clearances so a 6 foot deck is fine. First quote I got from local dealer was 3 percent off list. That created some upset and I then went to Barlows, Messicks, and my old dealer in PA who can deliver at a store location in DE and save over a thousand in tax. I never got a reply from Messicks, which surprised me, Barlow came back promptly with the lowest price (very nice people) but shipping sucks up almost all their savings.
I'm just going to ask local dealer to match highest quote I got, the one in DE. About ten percent off mower which apparently makes dealer very unhappy which means I'm getting somewhere....

42 out now going up to high fifties, maybe crack 60. Don't know yet if helper showing up, he didn't respond last night when I asked him how his son's broken leg was. Even if he doesn't show up I have a lot of trees to trim. Beating the woods back as my father used to say.

Mouth is almost back to normal, yeah.

Sitting here trying to decide whether I'd rather visit the Salton Sea or Yorkshire...such pretty photos. Thanks for posting. Eric, I guess that last photo shows where you spent the night. :)

Had a rain shower earlier, and now temps have dropped to 40, but will climb to 63, first day in a while to get up out of the 40s or 50s. Woodstove has been working hard the past 9 days. Today, I might wash some windows when I get back from my haircut and the gym.

Drove to southeast Virginia early yesterday for my last chance at bowhunting this year. Saw only a small buck...but when I got home and looked at my trail cam photos, I see that a couple of nice ones are hanging around. Shotgun season opens Saturday. I'll hunt here with the muzzleloader until then.

Drew, when is the best time of year to fertilize apples and pecans? I haven't been keeping up with my pruning and fertilizing, but need to get back to it...poor harvests.

Drew, when is the best time of year to fertilize apples and pecans? I haven't been keeping up with my pruning and fertilizing, but need to get back to it...poor harvests.

Billie I use fertilizer pretty sparingly in the beginning, but now I dump some bagged organic fertilizer, mostly chicken manure it seems(says it's for fruit and citrus trees), around the base of the trees in the Fall. Maybe I should do it in early Spring instead. Not sure it matters because it takes some time to penetrate. I also use those Jobe fertilizer spikes once a year.

Pruning always on the coldest day of the year. So in January I'm out pruning. Need a step ladder now, thankfully the trees have grown.
Need to really prune and shape the pear trees, they grew almost five feet this year.

Where are the pics from our Mighty Hunters?
