Poured first cup of coffee. 53° with cloudy skies this morning. Heading to 57° with wind and rain in afternoon. Good news from doctor yesterday. Test show that wife does not have ALS at this time. But some other neurological problem. That is treatable. More test next week. Going to relax today and get ready for Christmas tomorrow at sisters.
Good Morning All.

:cool2: That is great news, I bet you feel like you just got your first Christmas present. Ed

Good Morning! 38F @ 6:30AM. Sun and clouds mixed. High 43F. Winds light and variable.

Yesterday's all day drizzle accumulated to almost a half inch, validating the weatherman's guess after all. Supposed to dry out for most of the next week, and warm up, too.

Well that's some holiday cheer for you and yours, Ron!

Anybody remember Greenie Stick'em Caps? I had a few cap guns as a kid, but one, I think from Mattel, was a Colt Single Action Army pattern with a revolving cylinder that took spring loaded cartridges. A plastic bullet with prongs sticking out the back got pushed into the front of the cartridge, and the prongs would let go when the hammer set the Greenie off. Then the challenge was to find the little plastic bullet; they were grey and pretty small, and I think that cap gun disappeared when the folks got tired of listening to the caps and stepping on those little prongs in their bare feet. I did the whole roll of caps with a hammer trick, too, Don. Once. Also tried hitting a shotshell primer with a hammer. Piece of copper took a slice out of a knuckle, so that stunt wasn't repeated, either. It's a wonder I came through my youth all in pretty much one piece!

A Christmas Story 2 was playing on the boob toob last night, but after a half hour I had to turn it off. The cute little kid and his Red Ryder, with whom I shared so many memories, had morphed into a jerk of a teenager typifying everything that's wrong with Christmas these days. They couldn't have screwed up a Christmas movie any more if they'd have tried to.

Got the router reflashed yesterday morning, and it's been purring along smoothly ever since. Also got the music collection moved up to the NAS, but haven't had the courage yet to delete it from my hard drive. Too many hours spent ripping CDs there to take that plunge just yet. Also have about 400 DVDs transcoded and moved up to the NAS; I just keep feeding them into the disc drive and let 'em rip while I'm off doing other things. Perfect rainy day activity.

Headed down east of Sacramento this morning to spend Christmas with my vintner buddy, the one with the big power hammer. Sez he wants to do some shooting while I'm down there, so I'll take along a couple of oldies I inherited from Mom's boyfriend. One's a Winchester 62A, which some of you might recognize as the old trombone action gallery gun of days past. The other is a S&W Target Masterpiece in .22 Long Rifle, and neither has been shot in a long, long time. Also taking along a brick of the Remington ammo I'm not so fond of and will do my best to make sure none if it comes back.

Hoping you all have a joyous Christmas!

My 3 siblings and I all got cap guns and Red Ryder BB guns for Christmas at one time or another. My sister who is the youngest also got our hand me downs. Someplace there are pictures of all 4 of us wearing out western shirts and guns in holsters. Good Memories.
Thanks all for the Christmas good news wishes. Wife is so much happier from this news.

65°F and no rain since midnight, a morning mist.

Hard to believe it's Christmas Eve.

Party at friends later as long as weather holds. Literally cannot ford the stream that runs over their road if too much rain. Did reschedule one year.
Wife is happy I put up our tree yesterday.

Thanks for the well wishes. Thought about writing abit about what I learned at Dr as it might be of interest to those who make trips during the night breaking up their sleep.

Be safe
Have a great day

Eric,
That is quite the pistol. Can't say I ever had anything that nice, but definitely had my share. Many of us here grew up playing Cops N Robbers, Cowboys n Indians, what did you play? Contrary to what you may read in the media, the neighborhood girls played too, Annie Oakley, Dale Evans, Bonnie or another gun moll.
Haven't seen a roll or sheet of caps in ages.
Anyone else used to have contests who could ignite the most with your thumbnail? Just another non parent supervised activity we survived LOL.

Kyle and others,

These 36 solar panels (10080w) will be about 40% increase to my present system replacing the 48 smaller panels (6040watts).
30 will replace the 36 original panels on south exposure and 6 replace the 12 on west end of northern exposure. I will do most of this myself, but may need some muscle.
First, I'll have to uninstalled the 48 old panels, disassemble in order to reuse appropriate framing, wiring, conduit. The new arrays will be assembled as 3x10 and 3x2. Their footprint will be slightly larger, but manageable. Groups of 12 panels will each feed a charge controller. The remaining 16 panels on north exposure at 4KW remain in place on own controller.

Edit to add: my tractor will play a vital role.

I'm glad some of you enjoyed my little writing. I drove by that old home place a couple of weeks ago on my way to dad's grave to leave a Christmas tree. You can see it looking down from the high rise bridge they built in the 80's. The old red barn is still standing somehow and the house is still there. Somewhere in time my brothers, cousin and me still play ball in that big yard by the old pump house.

Cool and rainy today, clearing off for Santa later.

MERRY CHRISTMAS!
