Good morning! 63˚ good chance of rain heading to only 70˚. We have already had 2" since I planted my winter garden, hopefully I will be seeing sprouts in a day or two.

I planted different this year. Instead of rows I have 6' squares and broadcasted the 8 different seeds in the 8 squares and then raked them in.

Thanks Kyle for the solarization with plastic idea, the weeds are almost nonexistent.

Reminder - Make sure you review your beneficiaries.

Good Morning! 55F @ 5:45AM. Some clouds this morning will give way to generally sunny skies for the afternoon. High 73F. Winds light and variable.

Well I see my weather station is back on Weather Underground, but with the wrong place name. And the place name it should have is now held by a different weather station that is not in that place. I guess this is someone's idea of progress, but it seems to be in the wrong direction. Or should I say misdirection?:confused2:

Safely delivered the van to the mechanic yesterday; even got a thumb's up from a passing car of college kids on the way in. Fingers crossed for steady progress on the work; all I can do at this point is hope for the best...

Got stung by some kind of bee as I was loading the trailer yesterday, and initially tried to ignore it. But it started burning more and more until I stopped and found the stinger and venom sack still stuck on my arm. Pulled 'em out with a pair or tweezers, being careful not to squeeze the sack, but I'm afraid my delay has cost me a badly swollen and painful lower arm. The elbow joint is stiff and painful to move, and if feels like I'm squeezing a balloon each time I try to bend the arm. First time I've ever had a reaction like this, usually it's no worse than a large mosquito bite.

Going to take some time to tidy up the garage and storage trailer, hopefully getting things more back to normal before resuming work on other projects. The change of pace will be nice.

Maybe the poor presidential choices this year will wake enough people up so that there can be some positive change in how the two major parties operate? It seems to me that they've both put their own interests before the needs of the country as a whole, both during this election season and in their behavior once in office. Whatever happened to "government of the people, by the people, and for the people"?

I also leaned yesterday that an acquaintance of mine had recently died of a heart attack. Very sudden and unexpected, as he was slim, very active and healthy, and had no major health issues. Just goes to show no matter how well you care for yourself, no one gets to pick how or when they go. This guy did a pretty good job of smelling the roses along the way, but by every estimate still had a lot more left. The prevailing sentiment seems to be we should all quit putting things off that we've always wanted to do, and be more like Jim before it's too late.

52 this morning and headed to 66 today with light rain.

Try to get back to the chicken coops today for more maintenance work. Then run oldest to ENT doctor. Have some questions about reoccurring illnesses. As he has tubes and no tonsils. Then go vote.

Our polling place changed this year. But it's now on our way to town, although I enjoyed the drive over to the old one as I don't get out that way much. 2-3 miles by air and 10-12 miles by road to the old place. No good way to get there from here. New place will definitely be easier for people to find although the locals knew where the old one was. ________ garage and now it's the local hotel.

I am the eternal optimist, but this election has me pessimistic.
Beautiful cold morning, 32 early and big white frost, 66 later.

Wngsprd, I went to my so called "classmates reunion" 5 years ago, it was the 38-39-40 reunion for us, we had three classes involved since our little Camden County, NC school was so small. I saw the same as you, high school sweethearts still married, and everyone jumped right in where we'd left off. In my 1970 graduating class, the quarterback of the football team still looked 20! Most people recognized me, but Si looked just like he did 40 years before! I guess being the sports broadcaster for ECU has kept him young.

35 here this morning, we didn't get a voter's pamphlet this year for some reason, so went online and found the information we needed. It upsets me that many people don't take time to educate themselves. It is why we are in the mess we are... not many can understand the tremendous debt load the federal government is carrying.

I miss the polling places (Washington state is mail in ballots)..

I feel like I just went back in time. Paper ballots. Fill in all those little circles.
At least no hanging chads...

they walked me over to the machine that reads the ballot, it ate my paperwork like a photocopier and gave nothing back. Didn't expect anything either and happily
did not get pursued by politicos outside. In fact big sign said No Electioneering within 50 feet or something like that.
In PA I voted using the normal voting machines and I haven't done a paper ballot since who knows when.
I guess we aren't big enough for machinery...or the use of paper ballots might affect some portion of the voting public
per some grander scheme agenda. Certainly no Hispanic respelling of anyone's name or instructions. Perhaps they had that available.
Of course if I found out that few of the local Mexicans and South Americans were registered to vote and pay taxes too,
I would be pessimistic like Toppop.
