Will he be leasing the land to another rancher to keep his AG exemption? Good time to sell before having to feed them all winter.

He has plenty of hay for them.

Not sure about ag rules in Ohio. Have to look at that again.

Nobody leases land here for farming. Nobody will even cut hay on shares.

Maybe he might just want to cut the heard to a very manageable number and hire help. I know in Texas the taxes can increase by 5X without the AG exemption, hope it is different in Ohio.

Bill- If I see any additional snow today it will be from the Great Lakes. 24?コF presently with increasing wind. Tonight I should see single digit low temps and sub0?コF windchill with similar morning low temps tomorrow.

RNG- Wifey and I made yogurt from dried milk as well. It was pretty decent for the $;). After +20 years of year-round use/abuse my BGE is starting to crack internally and externally. Thank you for the link. I like the new competitor's model, the Kamado Joe Classic III, but $1600 is a little steep and I probably get similar performance with some of the tricks that I've learned over time like adding a heat diffuser, water/steam bath, etc. That article praised the BGE's ability to effectively control stable heat. I know I can smoke at 180コF and get the temperature hot enough to warp a heavy duty aluminum dutch oven, warp stainless steel tong utensils, and make cast iron glow red hot. I cook our steaks ~ 700コF; they cook quickly;) We'll see if our current BGE makes it through the winter. ;)

I'm sure you know, but,if you bought your Egg from an "authorized dealer" all the ceramic parts are warranteed for life. I am on my second large and have a medium too. I didn't buy any from a dealer. When I began looking for one originally the factory web site said there was no dealer within 250 miles. Computer glitch but I bought my first large from an internet dealer who was not authorized and the medium from a guy who had won it as a door prize. He promised to mail me the documents to register for warranty but didn't. I bought my second large from Sam's Club one year when they had 3 on special for 4th of July,I waited until the 5th and they had 1 left, it was marked down to $359 so I grabbed it because my 1st one had developed a crack like yours. A couple of years later I had become good friends with a young family who were Navy and really liked the Egged food but couldn't afford one. I saw a post on the original Green Egger's forum about an epoxy that would stand the heat so I cleaned my old one up real good and patched it with the epoxy and gave it to the young family. That was 4 years ago and they are still using it.

Any way if ,like me you don't have the warranty, the ceramic parts can be replaced or repaired for far less than a new unit. Best of luck either way, they are a great cooker and smoker.

Well, I finally bought a new tractor today, will be delivered on Friday morning. MF 1723, 23 h.p. diesel, 4x4, PS, tilt wheel, with loader, 60 belly mower, and box grader for my clam shell drive. R4 tires and a fabricated step to help me mount up. It’s a SCUT and the perfect size for around here. I’ll post pics once it’s here.

Good evening all. 22F for the start, clear sky, light breeze. Sky clouded some in afternoon, wind was moderate, and high temp was 41F. Started with the fireplace, worked on the ashes and still had lots of coals left over from yesterday. Was going to ride this afternoon but tree guy showed up to do stepdaughter tree. Got another load of dead oak, got it unloaded, and truck bed cleaned out.
Woodpile needs more help
Ron after trying to get her to go in deeper snow you're lucky she didn't head for closet :D
Eric that was quite the poem
PJ thanks for the guitar update , glad it turned out as planned.
Hawkeye, glad you got back under control.
Jay hope your BGE makes it. We don't BBQ mucj so wsa had to justify outlay for BGE. Spent 55 on new Weber kettle
Randy, that was quite the change in weather!!
Prayers for all.

BEF, think I’m getting better prices than Amazon
As for stacking, you can stack 10 Radians
I’ll be stacking the 4kw with the 8kw for 12kw capability.

When we lived in Atlanta, we were just down the street from the main BGE. Looked many times, but their love for even the used ones was greater than mine. Then just a few miles away we found Primo, made right there in Atlanta, not Mexico. Was able to get the XL oval model and table just in time for our move. Cracked the inner when I had it over 800°F one time. They replaced it, but I had to pay shipping. Cheating, by using the BBQ Guru, we often cook low and slow about 225°. Awesome brisket

Growing up, a bunch of the neighborhood mothers had something of a coffee clatch. They also got together when the USDA boxes were distributed for some sort of exchange. We never qualified on our own, but with 8 kids I suspect it was quite helpful. I can remember my Dad saying he never missed earning a paycheck. Ate lots of cheese, macaroni, the canned meat, and powdered milk, peanut butter too I think. No idea what my mom traded, but I think everyone was pleased. I don’t recall any of us thinking much about it. Just like getting handme downs for the older kids up the street or from rummage sale, noone got made fun of. Different times I guess.

Agree 100% on same maker components. The first quote used Schneider Electric parts, and I was impressed with the technical documentation available online. Good to hear the same is true for Outback, and I already know they've been in the business almost since the beginning.

I'll dig out the details later for the Radian inverters, but do you plan to trigger the generator based on battery bank SOC?

Haven’t decided yet. I really don’t have a solid gras of Radian vs FX yet, so learning.
In past I’ve used SOC, Voltage, Must Run, etc. lots of options in the Outback AGS. I don’t know which will be best fit for my new batteries yet. So far, I’m only using about 25% overnite. Pretty amazing. I could find that generator use becomes a rarity. That would be nice. I’m sure I’ll be tweaking settings. At this pount I haven’t seen SimpliPhi discuss other than voltage.

first cup of coffee going down, 27 degrees out, cold weather has followed the rain. My friends in DE said what snow they got melted.
That's good, going to be even colder up there. Will wear an undershirt for the first time this winter, cold is not my friend any more, aggravates arthritis.
Taking my electric blanket, will put it on their guest bed.

full tank of gas, clean windshield, the American dream, off I go.
Am taking the biggest birdfeeder gourd I grew this year as house present.
And my drive over the Chesapeake Bay tunnel bridge should be much calmer this time in the car.
Thankfully I even remembered to put my friend's Garmin in the car to return to him.

no slips and falls up North. Probably a lot of black ice this morning too.
Good morning all.

I watched a couple of their videos, an 8kw is just 2 4kw units together. Interesting system., especially going gridtie and net zero. Or choosing between grid or generator.

25 going to 37. All of our snow melted, but it did cover things for a while. Pretty unusual for mid-November here.

Randy, good for you getting a new tractor! Sounds like a nice one.

BEF, in addition to AG, here there are R/E tax reductions for forest land as well as open space, as long as minimum acreages are met. Maybe so in your dad's county.

Saw a big hawk flying through the heaviest of the wet snowfall yesterday...looked like it needed to spend some time on the tarmac getting de-iced. It finally landed on a branch up under a slanting trunk of a big maple...smart.

19°. Low was predicted at 22°. Our first day in teens, but better than single digits. Will warm again by tomorrow.

Cat just went down to basement, bathroom run is done, fire still humming along, so back to sleep. Need my rest for PT.

Good morning.

-4 °F and going to a high of 19. Wind WNW 11 mph. A mix of sun and cloud. No snow in the forecast, yet.

I have another town run today and I think I will cruise by the dump, too.

That is about all I will be doing today.

The cat is responding to treatment. Antibiotics are doing their thing. The salmon slurry I made up for her went down the hatch pretty quick. I sat and watched her, so I know who ate it all.

Have a good day all

After getting to 20 early, it is 21 now going to 39, if so it will be a record low, high temp for the date.
Snow is still lying there.
Drew, be careful I still owe you lunch on Friday!

I’ll check in later, have a good day.
