Good afternoon all. 25F this morning, mostly cloudy skies, and light winds. Forecast is for 45F and light winds. Trip yesterday was uneventful, just takes us10 hours to drive the 600 miles. Made it to church, now conserving energy. Maybe nap soon, granddaughter coming about 4:30. Sounds like most you are under control except for Bird, sorry about your mug. I concur that Bird should get another mug:thumbsup:
Prayers for all.

28°F and cloudy this morning, going up to 42° today. It did, in fact, and is already starting to drop as the sun is setting. 39° right now.

Got a late jump into the GM thread today. More like Good Evening now.

Bunch of puttering around in the studio yesterday and today, mostly doing maintenance and upgrade stuff. Dug pretty deep into the rebuild of my old bass preamp. Looking around locally, I'm not likely to find about half of the hardware I need to replace the rusted stuff. Probably try Gateway Electronics over in STL some evening after work. If they don't have it, I'll just order online. Either way, it's back on the back burner again for the moment. Opened up the Roland XP-80 synthesizer today and replaced the dead floppy drive with the USB floppy emulator The Wife got me for Christmas. That went well. It didn't come with the promised software to format the USB drives, but that's probably for the better, as it apparently doesn't work with any OS after Windows XP. I still have an old desktop computer with WinXP in storage somewhere. However, I was able to find and download a different program (oops ... I guess they call them "apps" these days) that seems to work on my Win8.1 laptop. I can get up to 999 floppies on one USB drive with this new emulator. No spare USB drive here, though, so I'll have to make a run into town and pick one up later this evening. That old floppy drive lasted for 17 years, as did the memory battery I'd just replaced the week before. Maybe I'll get another 17 years out of it. It's a really fantastic instrument.

All the kids and grandkids went home today, love having them, love sending them home. Great visit though. Ellen and my kids are developing a good relationship, that is a big relief.

I picked up the container late April and had it delivered to Thereabouts. The photo was taken May 2nd.

Second photo was taken today. I have some more screws to install and do the door lock and it痴 basically ready for us to leave for Yuma for the winter.

I wake up most mornings and pinch myself, living the dream.

26 right now...high in the mid-30's today with a Winter weather advisory (snow (2-5 inches) and ice tonight into tomorrow. Well, we weren't going anywhere anyway

22 and going to 32°F. Wind E 7 mph. 60% chance of flurries.

We did get some snow overnight. Because I skipped on the last two plowable events, I had better get her done today. I gotta go get some groceries today, too. We are out of milk. The cats will NOT stand for that.

The knee feels a lot better than it was last Friday. I think doing an Irish jig will be out of the question though and you can forget about me skiing.:)

Have a good day all

This morning the temperature is a bomby -17 Celsius which is 1.4 degrees F. My old bones are not as resilient to the cold as they once were but after reading about all the flooding, tornadoes, Tsunami I guess I don’t have much to complain about. Many would say the same but then again most of the world does not know the bite and pain that this type of cold can have on exposed skin.

This morning I have to run to town for food supplies and then this afternoon put driveway markers in because I hired a guy to do some of my snow plowing for me and he is not familiar with the driveways. Hiring this guy should free up some time for me to go to visit my daughters 5 hours away but I suppose it will put stress on me wondering if he will make a costly mistake. Afters years of operating my tractor I have a list of dos and don’t and I can’t expect him to know them all.

At any rate, I wish you all a happy New Years and all the bests to you.

Thanks
Ray

Drinking first cup of coffee. 28° with some clouds this morning. Heading to 39° with 100% chance of rain. Maybe a little over .5" of rain. PT this morning then put another coat of polyurethane on foot rest. Not much else planned. No New Year's Resolutions. Just pray for better health next year. I pass that on to everyone else.
Think I am going to give this a try. :D

Thankfully nothing like as cold here as gaprop. Apart from the lack of sunshine, this is about as good as it gets weather wise to end the year.
A coin will have to decide what to do today, heads for welding and tails to make a start on the young trees I marked for thinning a couple of months ago.

However, I was able to find and download a different program (oops ... I guess they call them "apps" these days)
Yes, isn't it strange that when we had perfectly good words like "program" and "software" (both being around before I was born), they are fast being consigned to the history books. I can understand marketing people pushing "App" as a distinct term for an application bought for a phone, but I can't quite come to terms with "App" becoming used for everything else.

For those on TBN that have dabbled in a little programming, what is the first computer language you learned ?

It is just over 40 years since I last used the FORTRAN I was taught in the 70's, but all the languages I've seen since rely on much the same concepts.

Foggy forty going to fifty-seven and rain. How else would we end the year without a little precip, after setting a record this year.

Happy New Year! (it's already after midnight in New Zealand). Ron, sounds like a good way to start the year.

Eric, I never programmed but dabbled in DOS and Unix.

Buppies, Tech at noon.

All I wanted to do yesterday after getting home from the gym was take a nap, but forced my self to go out and split and stack the pile of firewood I cut last week so it would be done before the rain got here...then got cleaned up and fell asleep in the recliner by 8pm. Wife coming home today...hope I can make it to midnight to celebrate.

Enjoy your last day of the year.

Good morning! 39˚ and wet.
Happy last day of the year.
I found it. The secret tractor club. it was hidden inside as a sub-club of the Horticulture Club, which I just joined. It's green. In the secluded barn was also two riding mowers and a utility vehicle - not the same one used in the Hiking club. The tractor has a FEL and a boxblade and I see lots of mulch piles around that show evidence of tractor activity. The 260 horticulture raised bed gardens were vacant as the temps did not get above 39˚ yesterday with intermittent rain. About 3/4 of the gardens do have winter greens growing and I saw some onions also. The green house did not have any plants in it yet, I don't know when they utilize it.

I got my attic pull down door from HD and figured a way to install it myself, but it will have to warm up a bit.

Edit: Pics three post down.
1. Tractor
2. Gardens - pano pic.

38 outside. lots of fog. No rain yet.

Busy day yesterday. Run-in dress up, more today. Electric fence re-routed and re-wired. Driveway repairs, took three hours, hauling gravel from back forty.

So ready to say goodbye to this year. Blessed to have what I have, blessed the wife is doing so well. But SO ready to start fresh. LOL.

Looks like I will be home for the month of January, until the government gets functional. Was notified, yesterday of all days.

Will go make my rounds this AM, set game cam up in a new spot since all are complaining about a bear in the 'hood. LOL.

Enjoy the LAST day of the year.

Hope all can bring in the New Year with good health, fortune and happiness!
