Good morning!!!!

68 going to 84 today with rain possibly around noon, enough of a possibility that I'm taking a break from driveway work. If the rain was for the end of the day, I could get a few hours in early, stuff dries fairly quickly. And do I see a big weather system working its way over? Yes, looks like damp week for an area that does not need one more drop of water. All my white fence posts out by the road have turned light green. They are on contract to get powerwashed next month by my fireman neighbor, who does this as a second job.

I bet everything is nice and green around Bird's home. Now if that much water went up to LS's area, not sure they'd know what to do with it. Probably flooding in the arroyos...
California is apparently dry also, sooner or later there's going to be a big showdown between the Central Valley ag interests and the rest of the State. Do you want to eat, or do you want to drink? Do you want to eat, or do you want to wash your Tesla?

I really need to go weedeat inside the garden area today, clean it up for the end of the year. Then I have to lay down more landscaping cloth to prevent the weedy grass from growing all winter. Not a job I look forward to but one I know I'll be happy when I'm done.
Just have to get motivated to get moving.

but first one last okra pick and then take my two lone gallon baggies of okra down to food pantry. Though i could do it tomorrow morning also, no set up time for okra and bake some brownies for the volunteers. Likely to shut down the garden next week, I've had enough, though I still have sweet potatoes to dig. That might be a good project for today unless it's pouring.

????????????:confused3: All kinds of thoughts running around in my head.

Since Gray2 is now a city cat he cannot be set outside at night. In the morning he gets to roam the front porch supervised. On the back porch he is a bad kitty and has run away 4 times to hide in the neighbors garden. We have good neighbors and they don't care but we like to keep our animals controlled.

as I was coming around the bend this song was going through my head...
as I worked my way up the driveway

edits are for Buppies...;)

I'll be working my way back to you buddy, with a burning love inside
Yeah, I'm working my way back to you buddy, and the happiness that died
I let it get away
(Been pavin' ev'ry day)
When you were such a friend to me, I played around like I was free
Thought I could have my cake and eat it too, but how I cried over losin' you
See me down and out, but I ain't about to go living my life without you
For every day I made you crumble
I'll pay and buddy, even if I fumble,

I'll keep working my way back to you buddy with a burning love inside
Yeah, I'm working my way back to you buddy and the happiness that died
I let it get away
(Been pavin' ev'ry day)

Good Morning!!!! 65F @ 5:45AM. Sunny. High 89F. Winds NW at 5 to 10 mph.

Glad you elaborated about Gray2, Don. I was wondering how you knew when to air out a cat, and just how one would go about it...

Critters, they do entertain, don't they, Thomas? Last night I watched as a fawn, grown to more than half the size of its mother, stuck its head under her udders and repeatedly bashed them before roughly suckling. I think her back legs actually came off the ground a time or two. Now that's motherly love!

We have some kind of chestnut out here as well, Eric, and back in Ohio we had buckeyes. Always enjoyed finding them on the ground, but never thought about roasting them. Maybe I'll look into trying that this year?

Too lazy to cook last night so ate some Costco pizza for dinner. Paid the price with heartburn waking me up at three something, but found this nice video about one of Mark Knopfler's more recent albums. If you're a fan, he has a new album that'll be out in November.

Tried the GoPro camera out on a little motorcycle ride into town last week, and yesterday finally got around to reviewing the video...

Solved the LCD mounting problem on the old motorcycle yesterday with a simple sheet metal bracket and double faced tape to attach it to the existing instrument cluster. Also got threads single pointed onto a stainless steel rod that'll be an engine mounting stud. Relearned that cutting oil makes a huge difference in surface finish quality. Still have one more stud to go, so I'll get some additional practice today.

Hope everyone's week gets off to a great start!

The low this morning was 29° the first frost of the season, yesterday was windy and in the low 70's. We had a dry cold front came through yesterday so today will be in the high 60's sunny with some more wind.

I did get some of the things on the fall and winter list done yesterday. I have to make trip in to town this morning. When I get back I'm going up to the neighbors and work on a new set of ramps for the flat bed trailer. I bent my ATV ramps loading the the side by side a few weeks ago. The ones that came with the trailer are heavy and a pain to use for the UTV.

Hope everyone has a good start to your week.

After a very long day last Friday, thought I would be able to relax and recover Saturday.. but my 4yo granddaughter decided that since I was gone last week, she wanted me to tag along to "touch the truck" (they have a bunch of trucks, power companies, cranes, buses, garbage, fire, ambulance, etc for kids to touch). We spent a couple of hours looking at trucks, then off to a funeral, then a wedding (outside with cold wind blowing).. I was more exhausted, slept most of the day Sunday, I think I picked up a head cold last week.

Way too many projects that were supposed to be done by now.. not sure what else will get done before it is too cold.

Ive always heard buckeyes were poisonous to eat. We have a couple buckeye trees on the farm.

The outside cat is wanting in this time of year.

Took 2 hrs to get to work. The last 15 minutes took an hour.

Nice ride! Pretty country.

Were you really going 80? Ssshhh! I won't tell anyone. Great gate at your drive entrance. Is that Chico?...looked very busy. Nice exhaust note until you had too much speed/wind to drown it out.

Drew, how'd you like to have to brush asphalt sealcoat on a driveway that long?

68°F with light fog and some drizzle this morning, going up to 77° today. Expecting some rain tonight and into tomorrow.

Wife and I finally got to a point with Deckasaurus this weekend that it's now a usable space. Got all of the top deck boards in place, with the exception of that last two at the end, which come up about 1-1/2" short. Checked around all the usual places, and no one has anything over 5-1/2" wide. So, going to check with a local lumber yard and see what they can do for me. Still need to get the steps and railing in place, but we did actually eat dinner out there last night ... take-out Chinese, as we were both too pooped to cook.

Looks like a fun ride, RNG. Love the paint job on that one.

Thanks for reminding me, Wng, the gate opener needs a new battery. Had to edit out a long pause while I fumbled around trying to get it to work.

Yep, that's Chico. Much more traffic when the college is in session. That slow down was caused by a CHP on the shoulder with his blue and red lights going. No idea why people would slow down; the speed limit there is 65 mph.

The speedo reads about 10 mph high on that bike. I generally try to stay with the flow of traffic, and let someone faster lead the way. I stand a much better chance of getting a beep in the radar detector that way...

that driveway is long enough I think keeping gravel on it would be a challenge. Tar and chip?
Enjoyed the ride RNG. You run 7000rpm on the freeway? There really wasn't all that much traffic in the beginning, countryside was nice.

watching a batch of chocolate walnut brownies in the oven, taking them to food pantry tomorrow morning for volunteer day.
Of course, those crunchy end bits usually fall to QC.

RNG, never been to Ozzie's before, Was hoping to see the wizzer of Ozzie's. :) Nice ride makes me miss a bike. Thanks.

Drew, you are making me tired, almost need a nap.

Buckeye, Glad I don't do that anymore.

The "driveway" is about a quarter mile long. The base is solid rock, with a few inches of very hard compacted gravel and dirt over top. I scrape most of the gravel to the side once the rain stops in the spring so it's easier to get a motorcycle up and down it. Then once it starts raining in the fall again, I'll push that gravel back over the wheel tracks. PITA to have to mess with twice every year, so when I win the lottery, I'll concrete the whole thing.

7000 RPM is redline on that engine, Drew, but there's good power from 3000-6000. At 4500 it's moving along pretty well with traffic in the 65 MPH zones, so that's where it spends about half the time on the way to town. The first half of the ride is indeed the most fun, even bouncing up and down the driveway.

You'd like Ozzie's, Ed. There's more floor space devoted to his old racing bikes and workshop than to new bikes and BMW boutique clothing offerings. Ozzie was a real wizzard with the old bikes, both working on them and racing them. Unfortunately he rode off to the great racetrack in the sky a few years ago, and we all miss him a lot! The cable I went down there to pick up was one of the few things they didn't have in stock in the eight years I've been getting my parts there. Not bad for twenty and thirty year old motorcycles!

66 now, 65-67 allday, drizzle, rain and showers all day, low tonight, you got it 66. Warmer the next couple of days. Had a very busy weekend, but did get time to see my Redskins beat the Packers and another one of those stupid roughing the passer calls. Good evening everyone, enjoy your night.

Going to scout camp one yr, someone needed gas, so we got off the next exit and went by this, so we made an unscheduled stop.

One is the 9-11 bike. 20100709_Scout_Summercamptrip_OCC__0055.jpeg20100709_Scout_Summercamptrip_OCC__0026.jpeg20100709_Scout_Summercamptrip_OCC__0052.jpeg
