60 right now...high in the low 80's...about the same as yesterday...

70 outside this AM. Heading to lower 80's. Rain closed me down from the outside world yesterday. Both ways on the road under water. Same expected this afternoon.
I wake between 3 and 4am to quiet. It is really quiet out here. May hear a dog or coyote in the distance along with the train if we go outside.

Most mornings I awaken to ringing of my iPhone alarm under my pillow. Wife has usually been up hour or more before and usually I don’t hear her. Both dogs and the cat usually get up with her. If a nice morning and she leaves for her morning walk, then how I awaken can vary. If the furry kids decide to sleep in, the my iPhone reigns, but not always the case. Some morning they just don’t trust the iPhone and begin playing their own wake up song literally seconds before the alarm. Other times, Kekoa just gets impatient and jumps on the bed to nuzzle me awake, but quietly. Other times I think they just to go in and out the doggie door as noisily as possible until I get up.

LS, I take my hat off to you, If I was in your shoes I would have been gone somewhere else as fast as I could. Sounds like a bad place to be and I am glad there are people like you that do stand and work in places like that. :thumbsup:

Thanks Riptides they seem to just keep popping up but try to keep positive sometimes hard to do but swift kick in the pants straightens me out. He also froze off about eight precancerous spots

Pm the trimmer last evening notice time for new clutch,no complaints been 8 years lot of trimming.

LS, check out the new proposed Houston Texas ambulance fees. $1,876.00 and $14.36-per-mile. They will charge $365 if you die on the scene and are not taken to the hospital. They will also charge $175 just to help you off the floor.

So far . . . ours are $850 to $1,000 for residents and another $100 for non-residents. I know one day a couple of years ago, our next door neighbor who gets around with a walker, came home from grocery shopping and fell right outside his door and couldn't get up. He had his cell phone, but didn't have my number in it, so he called the fire department and told me later that those firemen helped him up, got him in the house, carried his groceries in, and put them away. He didn't say anything about being charged for that, so I don't know whether he had to pay or not. He now can barely get around with a walker or rollator. So he got rid of his little pickup and I take him shopping, to doctor appointments, etc. I usually set his garbage out on pickup day, but a week ago yesterday, I was putting our garbage out and saw him trying to drag his garbage can AND his rollator at the same time. And before I could go over there, a squad car came down the street, stopped, and the officer got out, moved his garbage can out to the street, and made sure he got back in the house.

Poured first cup of coffee. 59° with light fog this morning. Heading to 79° with chance of late day rain. Lawn is cut and trimmed. Lynxx string trimmer worked well. Used it until my arm said enough. Kyle is right. Stop making it hurt. That's the plan today. Not doing anything today. Have a appointment with doctor that did the positive biopsy earlier this month in afternoon. Get his plans for treatment.

First noise I hear in house when I get up is dog snoring. Surprised a little dog can make that much noise.

Ed, like already said, call your CC company and ask for a refund. I had a large amount of money prepaid for some entertainment shows a couple years ago. They closed their doors. Theater claimed there would be no refunds. Called CC company. Within minutes money was back in my account. This was 5 months after payment. Good luck with refund. Prayers for your continued recovery.

Don, never thought of some of the things people use ambulances for. My question how are people that really need the services and have low income going to pay. Which includes me at those rates.

Emergency services have been so abused by the modern self centered world, that I’m not surprised by the fees. We all pay for the few.

1.41 inches of rain yesterday. 72 going to about 84 today.

Bird, that is heartwarming to read, thank you. Folks just taking care of each other.

Not sure if lawn will get mowed, geez it just keeps raining. Mold is growing on the fence posts, this is subtropical (South Florida) weather, maybe that's part of
living somewhat close to the ocean. Lot of systems seem to go up the coast.

Car dealer did right by me. F&I guy did his best to be polite and not look too disappointed when
I bought absolutely nothing from him. He is supposed to double the dealership's profit, the second sales point.
Told them I'd trade this car in before end of four years for something new very likely with level 3 autonomy.
So I had genuinely no need for all their add ons. And I really would have walked if they kept beating on me about
saying no no no, but they didn't. It all went smoothly and even the owner of the dealerships came out and shook my hand
and thanked me for the business. He looked like a wound up spring, just like all big car dealers, major stress factory.
Son of late owner, have no idea if he is a car guy but likely. Perfectly dressed and groomed, these guys all look like lawyers.

car dash is a lot to learn, two separate glass screens, configurable to show large satellite Google Earth pic of building you are trying to find in front of you
, while other screen shows normal nav. Two separate nav screens, not sure you could get lost with this.
Germans do cruise control differently, weird stalk down low on left, lot to learn.
Seat was much more comfortable than Outback's, they call it a sport seat with lumbar control that has a vertical adjustment. Firm but comfortable.
More initial softness than Subaru seat, softer on my sore back yet still supportive.
Ride is about the same as the Outback, which is well known to have a superior ride for its size.

In the rain today, when I can do nothing else, I will sit in the car and read a ten minute blurb they give you to read and the car will learn my
speech. Then it seems to work quite well with voice commands, but even the salesman got Canso Blvd instead of Cancel once...
Take Me Home is the correct prompt.

Foggy and 71 going to a rainy 80. Rained off an on all day yesterday.

Took it easy yesterday and watched a TV movie with my wife. Took Coco for a hike and killed more deerflies along the creek...up to 972 for the year.

Rick, saw the efforts to change Austin's name on the news...stupid and huge, expensive waste of taxpayer money, and he was a hero. Growing up as a kid, Sam Houston was my hero...born here in Virginia, and accomplished so much...read everything I could find about him.

There is a job opportunity there. If you know how to attach leans to people you could collect a % the $390 million in Houston's unpaid ambulance bills. 50% never pay and there is no collection agency the "goes after" them. The fire department suffers and eventually the people suffer when new ambulances are not bought and paramedics are not hired. Response times gets longer and longer.

If you live in Lee County the air fee is close to $15,000 and the response time (Ive time it) is about 2 hours to get you to a hospital.

Around here they seem to use air ambulances for even minor injuries. I bet there are a lot of people unpleasantly surprised when they get the outrageous bills. There has also been a lot of consolidation in the industry, with just a few big players buying out all the Mom'n'Pop outfits, then dramatically raising the prices. But the good news is that for something like eighty bux a year, you can buy an insurance policy that'll cover their services should they be needed.

Spent yesterday working out the math and making a spreadsheet for the gearbox end float calculations. Measured a lot of shims, and it turns out there's a pretty wide variation between what they're supposed to measure and what they actually do. Confirmed that the guy that built this gearbox actually did a pretty good job, just too bad he didn't take an extra hour and clean up the outside before he put it all back together. This one goes back together today.

Most of the activity on the Carr Fire has been on the west and south sides for the past two days, and yesterday they started letting evacuees go home on the west side of Redding. Apparently there was some confusion among the evacuees over just what was being opened and what wasn't, and the news media had a field day trying to make the CHP, who has been manning the road blocks, look bad. Shameful behavior during a state of emergency.

Saw my pet lizard on the back porch again yesterday, so got the meal worms out and offered him one. Came right over and snatched it out of my fingers, chomped it down, then stood looking at me wanting more. It did get two more, but it'll have to wait a few days for another feast. I can tell it's getting fat!:laughing:

Another inside day today, just too much smoke in the air to do anything else. The sun was a big red ball at sunset last night, but try as I might I just couldn't get the Canon super zoom camera to catch it. Kept wanting to turn it white...

Bird, it's always heartwarming to read stories like that one about your neighbor. Good to know your community recognizes his need and accommodates him. That's how it's supposed to work.
