71 and foggy going to 84 and more rain. The area around Charlottesville got nailed yesterday...up to 9.2 inches of rain.

Prayers said for your family, Kyle.

Part of the yard dried enough to mow some yesterday.

Eric, are you feeling fleecy today?

Roy, nice you got your chipper going...sounds like you have a lot of work for it.

TxDon; are you going to move yourself or hire it out?

Both. We will move a bunch of the smaller items ourself but the the big heavy stuff will be for the crew with a bobtail truck. The moving company said by doing it that way they can do the move in a day - 3 guys one truck. The new owner here has a cargo trailer he is dropping by tonight, he doesn't need it till we are out. The house has the optional connected third garage that we will use as our unloading area. The best thing we did was to add a lease back agreement to our place for a month so we would not be rushed moving. Not that we will need the entire month but the new owner knows from the start that it was one of the contingencies.

That's what they asked when I retired to the country. Never a dull moment even when I searched for one. Soon with over 100 interest groups and clubs, it's not "what am I going to do with my time", it's "do I have enough time to do everything".
My theory is Don is in the witness protection program, and was forced to move once his compass rose was found on google maps.

Is real estate appreciating in the Sun City community? Or, like a car, is it better to let someone else take the depreciation hit when buying new?

Appreciating., and there are 2 backups if we back out.

Wow, what a lot of clubs !

Whipper may like the nature club if they will tell where the snakes are hiding.

Keep the boots in case you decide to join the line dancers ;)

I guess that shooting out of the window or off the porch is frowned upon in Sun City and that using the golf course bunkers as target backstops is not exactly encouraged either, so if I lived there I would happily part with the $12 to join the hunting and fishing club. Maybe the woodworkers club too, though hard to tell as can't see much about that one without a password - perhaps you need to join the computer club first to learn how to hack into the woodworking section.:)

That’s why there will not be an identifiable landmark in the yard viewable by satellite.

Buckeye, video recording of your axle repair would be nice. :tractor::D
.

Thinking about that. Watched some youtube video of one repair, but no axle replacement. Gotta open the whole thing up. Hopefully nothing gets lost or out of place.

Good Morning!!!! 53F @ 5:00AM. Partly cloudy. High 68F. Winds S at 5 to 10 mph.

Is your mom coming to Sun City with you, Don? Seems like there would be a lot more support and activities there for her there as well...

Sometimes it's just easier to ride the horse in the direction it's already going, Buckeye. And maybe the new axle kit includes redesigned parts to prevent the failure in the future?

Two hours of peaceful sitting in the mostly empty cheery orchard yesterday morning, and one less sparrow that was bound and determined to finish its snack but succumbed to the second shot from the old RWS pellet rifle. Gosh, that thing is over 30 years old now and still looks brand new. And now I see that there are all kinds of accuracy improvements available for it...

Very nice day for a motorcycle ride up the canyon, but also a very nice day for road construction. Three stops on the way to Belden, then the same three stops on the way back, but the delays were short and not much of a bother. It's all supposed to be done today, and looked mostly completed as our little guided caravans passed through.

Another round of head bolt tightening and valve adjustment this morning, then ride the thing to town for shopping and errands. Another cool day, the last before it makes a run for the hundreds over the weekend.

She has been invited but wants to stay put for now.

Good morning to all! Low of 50, going up to 87 today. Humidity is at 6%... High fire danger for about 3/4 of the state. Possible showers (50% WOW!) and cooler temps at 77 for Sunday.

Going to do a plumbing repair for the neighbor this morning, adding a hose bib so she can water her horses. She has been pulling a hose into her laundry room and connecting it to the washer box....apparently a "handyman" she hired a couple years ago, somehow messed up her outdoor hydrant. I yelled at her for not telling me sooner....she said she didn't want to bother me....it will be fixed in about an hour! She's 70, no family except for an older sister in California. Takes care of 3 horses, a pig, and 3 dogs, plus still working full time. I try to help her out (when she'll tell you) when I can.

Kyle, prayers out to your family this morning. Take a deep breath, exhale slowly....you will overcome!

Drew, I would definitely appreciate the weekly rain if you can arrange it! With all you do for folks, maybe you have better connections...;)

Don, will your tractor fit in the new garage?:D

Eric, surprisingly the new neighbors were very accepting to the agreement. Basically because I will be doing the labor to remove the wrong fence, then will be putting up a 'new' one. I think at first they thought I wanted monetary compensation for it, but were very excited with the agreement. They are still out of state about 1000mi away until they sell their other house. I don't think they wanted another problem.... There was a major water flood from a broken pipe last winter...of course they weren't here, so it went undetected for about 3000gal worth inside the house...SURPRISE!

Everyone have a great day! Prayers out to those needing (even for everyone else too)

72°F and clear skies this morning, going up to 87° today. Clear skies won't last long, though, as a storm front is working it's way through the area this morning. Supposed to be packing some high winds, heavy rain, and hail. Not really what we need, but then again, no one asked me before ordering this weather.

Need to get the pasture cut this weekend. I was out there last weekend, and it's gotten much taller than I would have preferred. Will be the first cut of the year.

Your place looks fantastic, LS. Very nice work.

Daughter and SIL just left after pulling the leaking hoses and disassembling the leaking cylinder on the loader on the Gravely we gave them.. It brought back many memories of working on the Gravelys, marveling how well built they were.

Of course last night (when I was too tired) and this morning (when I have to work), it is dead still out, with temps in 60s, perfect for spraying the yard. I use the Kubota with 3pt sprayer but with the plants we want to keep around the yard, temps have to be 70s or below and no wind, not even a breeze. I really don't want to kill the things we want to keep but do like reducing the ones we don't want in the yard.

My wife likes to use weed n feed fertilizer, but it has gotten a bit expensive for the size of yard we have.. My SIL that lives a few hours away was remembering how luscious our lawn was the summer he married our daughter. We had spent a bunch of fertilizer and spray and water to make it perfect.. We hosted rehearsal dinner and reception at our house and got many compliments on the lawn.. My wife moved hoses and sprinklers daily to water it and I mowed it twice a week in the hottest part of the summer... water ran almost all day every day getting it all perfect..

Would like to start mowing but would have to dry out a bit.

75 degrees for the low this morning and going for 97 this afternoon, and we WISH it would rain. I started edging and trimming our yard and the one next door this morning about daylight; originally thinking I'd do that much this morning, then mow tomorrow, but once started I kept going until I had both yards mowed, edged, and trimmed.

Humid and off and on clouds, very tropical feeling. 84 and feels like 91. Took one grandson to visit mom today, then to Pizza Hut. Dog ate the cat food while we were gone.
She is smart though, her bowl was sliding in the laminate so she picked it up and took it to the carpet to finish dinner the other night.
