As a kid with no money, I think I got $10 from my Grandparents for Christmas. Headed straight to J.C. Penneys, and for the very first album I ever bought, it was ZZ Top Tres Hombres. The year was 1973.

They are going to finally play at the Fayette County Fair (Lagrange Texas) here in a few weeks (early September). They are anticipating a crowd of 35,000 or more. Will be the 1st time to play Lagrange in Lagrange. Would love to go see them, but it will be hot, and I don't care for crowds without assigned seating. Hoping to see video of it on TV.

Wow ZZ playing only 35 miles from here. LaGrange only has a pollution of 4,600 (edit, Ok buckeye population:thumbsup with an additional 35,000 people . . . .nope not going. The hospital there is small it does not even have an ICU, and Law enforcement/security not enough.

A fine and breezy morning, it should be just right for haymaking today, at a field about a mile away that goes all the way around a private airfield. It is a tiny airstrip, only used by a few keen flyers. No doubt the talk will be all about the accident at the nearby Oulton Park airshow last week, which killed the pilot of an historic Folland Gnat jet. I have never been to an airshow and don't really need to as they often fly right by our house, but they do seem to be highly risky events. Makes me wonder if the danger is a major part of the attraction to both pilots and spectators.


Kev, even the non-Hindus amongst us would say - Holy cow ! your Harry is tiny !

In this country a few years ago there was uproar when, after DNA testing, it was proved that the steaks being served up in some big restaurants were actually Zebu crosses from Brazil. It wasn't so much that some people believe Brahman/Zebu to be sacred, it was more the meat being served up was too tough.

Coffee has been poured. 68° with cloudy skies this morning. Heading to 76° with showers and thunderstorms. Cellar sump pump went out yesterday. Need to buy new one today. Then install it. That should be it for the day.
Eric, hope you got all the paint cleaned up.

Good morning, 70F heading to 79 with Thunderstorms in the forcast. No riding bike to work today, a light rain this morning.

a pleasant cool 65 going up to 85 today in fair weather.
Didn't get my truck washed yesterday so that's on the program for this morning before the sun gets high.
Then I'll be applying Roundup carefully to my driveway in the portions whose edges I cleared. Hopefully my young helper will actually show up today and he can finish the rest. I reloaded line in both string trimmers and made a fresh batch of fuel mix; that should hold him. I try to alternate every other tank with the expensive canned gas, or every third tank. Seems to work keeping them starting and running.

Still need to water some trees. As with all of us, always something...

69 going to 83. Maybe a good rain, finally, and hopefully. Just got sprinkled on while out refilling hummingbird feeders.

I miss Buppies, too. Hope everything is okay.

Have some trimming and watering to do today, if the rain doesn't fall.

73 to 95 and no rain. It is so foggy outside right now that you can't see any of the critters, including the 120# white dog at the bottom of the stairs let alone a grey mini bull in the field. Back to work today....
