Good morning!!!!

Need to pour coffee. 50° with some partly cloudy skies this morning. Heading to 69° with slight chance of rain in afternoon. Good visits and meal yesterday. Got a thunderstorm with rain and hail yesterday evening. Hoping to get started on power washing house today. BIL is suppose to visit today. We will if I get started.
Randy, Payers for your mom and family. Went through same thing 2 years ago with my mom. Sad to watch our loved ones pass away.
Good Morning All.

A cold front came through; nearly 5 degrees cooler this morning than yesterday. Still warmer than I'd prefer. 69 this morning is nice, but going for 90 or more later today isn't so nice.

63F cloudy upper 70's for high good chance of rain later today.

3 day weekend flew by least than an hour headed to grind.

Pulling for the folks in Texas.

Enjoy the day all.

We hit low 80's and very pleasant, not as warm as predicted, but that's good. Mowed yesterday after going with my brother to see mom. She had a decent day yesterday, but not so much today. It's like getting hit in the gut yo watch this up and down. She would be happy to go to sleep and not wake up, I'd be happy for her, she doesn't want to live this way and I don't blame her.

Special thoughts/prayers for your mother.

warmer day, 70 going up to 88 with some showers possible later on.
Quick trip downtown this morning to Kubota dealer, pay my bill there and chew out the salesman for several things (new disc harrow did not have an easy adjust feature as we discussed plus he told me weights that he ordered for me would fit without a separate weight bar, which they won't) both caused by his going too fast and not being detail conscious like his predecessor was. That's two foul balls he has hit for me, next one has to be a winner.

Then back home and disc about five acres, which should be fun because it's the second pass and much easier to do. Unfortunately I make my derelict neighbor farmer's fields look good, and the downside is now we can see his place easier, and it's a mess. It was wonderful when the corn was seven feet high and blocked it all. He is actually making an attempt to clean up his place, I just might be having a small positive impact on him, maybe give him some hope which he hasn't had in a long time. I just can't imagine trying to live on 700 a month SS.
What helps to make my efforts feel worthwhile is having neighbors drive by and give me thumbs up when working on this property. It really brings down the neighborhood.

Big tree limb fell down on my other neighbor's property, thankfully along the tree line and didn't hit anything. About two cords of willow oak firewood coming up. The log splitter will be humming.

64 mostly clear high of 80 today rain later this afternoon and tomorrow

Randy prayers for you and your family. I've done this too many times myself. Being there with them let's you remember the good times and I believe they do too

Nobody seems to know where our next hurricane is going but when she makes up her mind she will let us know.
Gas has gone up $.50 cents more expected and if this next one makes a direct hit look for broke insurance companies with huge rate increases to follow. Have been reading where health insurance is going up another 25 percent WOW

Randy, prayers your mom and your family. End of life situations are very seldom smooth. Eric put it into words nicely.

Hope for the best.

We are expecting cooler weather here. Maybe in the 50's??? Where's my jacket?

Knocked 2 large dead trees over and hauled them to the burn pile yesterday. Used the 5420's FEL. One of the cylinders has a slow drip. Ugg.

Going to order some tire bead sealer to hopefully stop the slow leak on the rim I just cleaned and painted.

65 headed to 87 and sunny before rain tonight.

Randy, prayers for you and your mom.

Tilled 3 food plots yesterday. Will plant today, and then done for this year. Also have some mowing and trimming.

Buckeye, glad your cookout was successful. We grilled some dove breast and brats last night. Yummy.

The low this morning was 38*, yesterday high was 87*. A little cooler this morning then it has been. The forecast is still the same, high 80' and sunny.

Going up to help the neighbor move stuff around in his yard. He is going to dig a trench to put power down to his barn.

Hope everyone has a nice day.

60°F and clear skies this morning, going up to 79° today. Was 93° yesterday, and a cold front came through in the evening that brought both severe storms and much cooler temperatures. Dropped to 72° almost instantly.

Sorry about your Mother, Randy. I went through that with mine 6 years ago. Lots of mixed emotions. Hope you can enjoy your remaining time.

Happy Birthday, Lenny.

Thanks for all the anniversary wishes. We did indeed have a great time at the painting thing Friday evening, which turned out to be much more fun than I had anticipated. And, we ended up with a pair of paintings that aren't too terribly bad.

We had a late dinner afterwards with some friends, and ended up out past midnight ... a rarity for us.

We also went to the Japanese Festival at the Missouri Botanical Gardens in St. Louis yesterday. I used to go to this pretty much every year, but we haven't been for several years. Just been too busy on Labor Day weekends. This year, though, we determined we would make the time. Honestly, we were a bit disappointed. It seems much of the traditional Japanese flavor of the festival has been replaced with people selling cheap trinkets. Kind of a shame, as this had always been a wonderful experience. It was also quite uncomfortably warm, and combined with an inordinate amount of rude people, we were ready to leave by noon. We did, however, enjoy some of the walk through the park. It's a very beautiful place. One of my favorite spots is the waterfall in the Japanese Garden area. We also got some great ideas for new ground cover around the back of the house.

Randy, I really feel for what your mum and all who are close to her are going through. I hope that as she fades she will enter a time of piece and once everyone's worries become no longer relevant, you can almost enjoy your last thoughts together, even if much of that time is while you can only sit in silence by her bedside.

Randy, Eric said it better than I can. Will be praying, know it has to be hard. Ed

Good Morning! 74F @ 8:30AM. Sun and clouds mixed. High near 90F. Winds S at 5 to 10 mph.

Ran into an old acquaintance over the weekend that was planning on a move to Washington state to help care for his elderly mother and father. Big change for he and his wife, who will both have to find new jobs. Elder care is hard for everyone involved, Rip. So many things that can only be accepted as they are, and just keep going. The hospital social workers can be wonderful guides.

Long motorcycle ride this weekend, three nights in three different locations covering a little over 900 miles. Very hot afternoons, I saw 115F several times on the little handlebar thermometer, but managed to stay cool by soaking a wicking t-shirt and the cloth skull cap I use inside the helmet. Riding the Sierra Nevada foothills in the cool of the morning was wonderful, and the fella that did the routing went out of his way to keep us on mostly untraveled roads with no other traffic. Several places with steep switchbacks going up and down mountain ridges kept us on our toes. Beautiful views from the tops, including one stop at a fire tower where the Forest Service man at the top showed us how he does his job. No smoke at that particular location, but lots of it along other parts of the ride, which skirted several active fires. Saw lots of turkeys and deer, crows and buzzards feasting at roadkill as well. Ended up at the north end of the state, only a couple hours from here, and at enough elevation that on Monday morning's ride the heaters in the jacket and hand grips felt good. Only two small mechanical issues that need taking care of this week, not bad for a 25 year old antique with 142,000 miles on it.

Hope everyone's week gets off to a great start.

67.5F and mostly cloudy @ 13:00. High today predicted to be around 73F, into the 60's for highs after the next five days after that.

Finally got some rain. Cold front blew through around 22:00 last night and we got dumped on with wind, torrential rains, and small hail. Ended up coming in a couple of waves, with the last one around 03:00 this morning. Total precipitation looks to have been around 1.75" based on the reports from a couple of local stations. That should green things up, especially with the cool temps that are in the forecast. Leaves on some of the maples are starting to change and drop ... :(

Haven't been out yet to survey the mess it made, but I'd bet that there's a mess over on the north slope by the polebarn where I had moved the topsoil to ... it was about like confectioner's sugar and mostly unpacked. I did manage to move some of it around and build an embankment/catch basin near the bottom to try and catch any runoff. Also got the one downspout drain temporarily hooked back up.

The Woman put the kobash on the trip to HFT and screening any soil yesterday. Instead I worked on things here at the house, mostly trying to clean up the garage and spent some time trying to locate a decent auto repair shop in the area that works on European cars. I think I found one ... have to call them today and see how backed up they are.

Also think I may have discovered that the problem with the Passat might be the ignition switch, which I could probably replace myself (unless something has to be coded) ... part is only $25. I found out that when the car fails to start and is showing the EPC light if you turn the key on and off about 1/2 a dozen times and then try to actually start it, it will start. Probably will still take it in and have them read the codes.

Wife has the day off today so I need to check with her and see what's on the menu. Otherwise I might build a storage rack on the wall in the garage to hold long stuff.
