Good morning!!!!

Hey Toppop congrats on making it to geezer city.

hard physical day today, working out of that elevated bucket not easy to do. By mid afternoon I was so tired my legs were wobbly and time to get off it.
A bit of a learning curve, talk about a complicated pictogram, but after a while I had it all figured out. Very nice machine, fully electric, new, made in 2016.
Started off blowing the pine needles off the barn shed roof, then went to work on pine trees with dead limbs. Hauled it all back to burn pile and fed it in to chipper.
Lot of exercise...tomorrow my helper does the hard part.
got a few pictures of home, I was too chicken to take it all the way up. On the last tree the limb was pretty high, the bucket was wobbly, my legs were wobbly, and I said to myself, no,
stop, start again tomorrow.

Just came in, thunderstorms popping up all around ... but not here yet.

Got the rest of that tank of gly sprayed this morning. Probably need to spray one more tank (at least), mostly around the barn.

After that I went back to cleaning up leaves (and moss) on the north and east sides of the polebarn. Got it done out to 10' on the north side, and 15' on the east.

Did run into a yellow jacket nest as I was trying to fill in under the skirt board on the east side. Ran down to hardware store and picked up some wasp spray and squirted 'em down and then hit it with some Apicide dust.

Time for some lamb vindaloo ...

Happy Happy Birthday, Randy! 65th birthdays deserve a new zero-turn!

Drew, looks like you were flying a drone around. Tomorrow, you got to go just 5 feet higher! :)

One of our friendly bumble bees hid on the bottom of a hummingbird feeder while I was opening it to refill...what a shock to my index finger tip when he stung me. I'm usually very careful since so many bees are around, but they don't seem to get annoyed unless you touch them. Saw my first bald head hornet of the year today.

Ed, hard to count the hummingbirds when they buzz around so much but we have estimated 100-200 after fledging based on looking at all 21 feeders with 5 or more on or hovering around each feeder and others flying in between. We have been feeding them many years. Most look the same, and can only be distinguished as male vs. females vs. juveniles, but we have recognized a couple that are very unusual looking and have seen them return in the spring over the years...one that we named grandpa. Some get tame enough to feed while we are trying to hang the feeder, and we have had to rescue a few that got caught in our porch. My wife watched a big praying mantis catch one a few years ago.

Just wanted something to tell Mom. She got excited about that as much as anything in a long time. Trying to keep her interested in things at 93 is harder than I thought. Thanks Ed

Drew, nice pics. How much to rent? I need one to do work at my dads.

Wngsprd, i thought dads 20+ hummingbirds was a lot. Wow.

Wng that much sugar here would raise suspicions. You'd get accused of making shine not feeding birds.

Good evening all. 74F this morning, overcast and calm wind, and rain gauge bone dry. Temp only got to 84F, intermittent light drizzle during morning, and to add insult to injury it's raining at the Ranger's game at Irvine :(. Men's meeting has restarted after 2 months off for the summer, and bike ride took care this morning, and a nap and sore foot (walked into wall) took care of this afternoon.

Happy birthday Randy!

David (Moss) always enjoy watching the hummers, nice way to start day.

Drew, had a similar lift to take down big elm tree. Step son did most of the lift work, I spelled him a couple of time so he could cool off. Can't find the pics :(.

David (Sadamo) Good news on your wife!!

68 going to 91.

Farmer, I think that sugar water turns to shine in the heat from the sun...that's why the birds love it.

Ed, glad your mom liked the hummingbird story.

If it wasn't for such vigorous weed growth, it would be difficult to tell that this is still summer. The views of distant hills keep being obscured by low cloud and frequent showers encourage even short ventures outside to be made wearing waterproofs. It is good to be back inside with a hot mug of tea. At least the cooler weather makes this an ideal time to clean out the pens at the back of the barn and make use of the westerly wind to drive away the dust and flies. That may take me a while as, unlike Hawkeye, I have no little helper today.

Happy 65th ( + 1 day) Randy !

Drew, I have hired and borrowed a few "cherry pickers" over the years and there are few things as satisfying at getting a birds eye view while doing things safely from above that could otherwise put a big dent in your head. Hope you get a calm day to take it to the top and take a few pictures out to the horizon.
