Here in East Coast Canada we got a foot of snow on the first day of spring. I blew out the driveways.. Today it drifted back in until it cut over to freezing rain. To cold to drive my ATV without a windshield so I made one out of Lexan. This lexan is great stuff. Here is a quick video about working with Lexan. Would be great stuff to make a tractor cab with. Partly sunny and 43F @ 10:30 ... heading up to a high of 52F today.

Got the last of the Melanochromis auratus moved down to the 20G Long last night.

The 55G tank seems decidedly calmer with them out of it.

Will probably move the Julies out of it next.

Wife and I worked some more in the basement.

Have a doctors appointment later today.

Glad to hear you are on the mend Buppies

   / Good morning!!!! #56,265
Get well there Buppies, don't over do it. I built a windshield for my Donzi in 1990 from Lexan. I didn't like how high the original was, and thought I could do anything back then. It turned out great! It was rounded, no square corners. I used a heat gun to help shape it, after I cut it out.

Dreary and mild, 50's so far, supposed to reach 60's but I don't know. Cold tomorrow and Thursday, then seasonal for a week or so.

The endoscope from China showed up yesterday but I couldn't make the WiFi connect to the iPhone. Messaged seller through Amazon and received this reply:
We advice you to change another cell phone(not iphone) to check it if it can work or not, as before it being sent out, we test that it can work.

Admittedly their English is a lot better than my Chinese, but if it doesn't work with an iPhone, why did the description on the thing say it did? I'll try it with the iPad this morning, and if it doesn't work with that, it's going back for a refund. Too bad, as the unit looks nicely made and the LEDs at the camera end look like they'll provide plenty of light.

Update: Something didn't seem right in setting up the WiFi network on the endoscope. The instructions that came with it had a line that read:
Click phone Setting>>WLAN>>Scan, you can find the WiFi name "Jetion_xxxxxxxx", the initial password is "12345678".

It wasn't clear if they were referring to the configuration of the viewing app on the phone, or the phone's WiFi network setting. There are SSID and password settings in the viewing app, but no WLAN or Scan function. And it's possible to set the iPhone to join just about any network by adjusting the Wi-Fi setting. What wasn't clear is if the endoscope should be configured to join an existing WiFi network or if it was creating its own. So I went into the Wi-Fi settings on the iPhone and found that the endoscope was indeed creating its own WiFi network. Once the iPhone was set to join the endoscope WiFi network, the image appeared in the iPhone app just fine. I was also able to get it to work with the iPad Pro the same way.

Image quality for still photos seems pretty good. This was shot at a distance of about 2" using just the LED light from the endoscope. The label in the picture is about an inch long. Movies, on the other hand, are something of a disappointment. Maximum resolution is 480 x 640, and as a result they're somewhat grainy when displayed on a big screen. But in use the images displayed on the iPhone and iPad are plenty good enough to see where that blockage in the pipe is or if there's something in the way of getting through the wall. At 0.351", the maximum diameter of the camera housing is too large for my main use, so I'll very likely return it. If all I needed it for was for looking at things around the house and in the van and motorcycles I think it would be fine. It was advertized as being 5.5mm in diameter, and is actually almost 9mm. Had I known that I wouldn't have bothered ordering it to begin with.

Good evening all. 60F This morning, calm wind clear skies. Temps more restrained today only 84F, wind more restrained as well, and skies clouded just a bit late afternoon but no rain here. 2 more chances of rain, Friday and Sunday, need some rain. Started mowing today, after giving the blade a quick sharpening job and oil change. Because of Tuesday bible class and wife's nap won't finish till tomorrow.

We just got word of the size of our coverage area for our VFD. We cover 62 square miles. This is a nice small area with our most travel road a farm to market road, no major Highways. Our largest structure is a century old wooden church and every firefighter has a tractor.

Don't hog the rain Mostly_gas, send some of it South.

Kyle, as comparison Giddings VFD coverage area is 209 square miles.

Good morning all. It wet and windy here, just thankful that it's not a degree or two cooler or this would be falling as snow.

Will be on job this morning but easy days for me no real work only driving paver on walkin trail and with 30 minutes between trucks lots of naps F250 is good for that plenty of room and comfortable seat.

Van Gogh lost one ear and became the most renowned impressionist painter.
Buppies, we are all impressed that you returned to work so soon after getting a second ear sliced - you are one tough impressionist paver. :)

Nasty rumor has been started about snow storm arriving Sunday,

Enjoy the day all.

52 and dropping today to the 20s tonight.

Time to clean out the woodstove ashes and fire 'er up again. Still have one load of rounds to split and stack today, and will cut a bit more to put up for next year.

   / Good morning!!!! #56,277
just like Wingsprd said, except it had better not get into the twenties here tonight...looks like one final night of putting the sheet over the veggies. From Thursday on out a big warmup with nights in the 50's and days in the 70's....yes. Some of you guys up North could probably take that right now, if everything wouldn't turn to mud.

Ordered a big three person colored plastic swing yesterday from a local dealer, with an A frame to support it, no more chains in the trees.
Before it comes I have to remove the old one, chains are totally inbedded into the pine trees. Bolt cutter job I guess. Prior owner wasn't too smart with this, also lot of barbed wire inbedded
in trees I have to rip out. While at the dealer I loaned him that Cub Cadet picture book and he was tickled pink. He could see well enough to know exactly what it was, and he was calling his son in law as I was leaving telling him all about it, as it was the SIL's son who I guess he wants to do a renovation project with. Good quality time if the child has patience.

When I got home my two firemen helpers were here working on a long list of jobs, including weedeating ditches, so I took advantage of their strong arms and had them put my full weight box on the Kubota and the mower on the Massey. Then I put the WR Long tree scoop on the front of the Kubota (front implements are easy for me) and attacked an old red oak trunk. Great fun, it came apart pretty easy with the tree digger, then I swapped that out for the grapple and pulled the stump out in two pieces. That stump was overdue for attention and now the entrance to the nut orchard is not so messy.
and wider...

Cloudy and 25F with some light snow flurries at 08:15, clearing with a high of 31F later this afternoon. After this little dip, we'll be heading into the 60's for a few days before dropping back into the 40's and 50's for highs.

Yesterday the cardiologist said things are looking good, claimed I had a strong pulse in my legs, and that I appeared to be pretty healthy. My BP was up a little (138/82) and my blood ox was down some (95) He upped the heart meds a little, gave me some industrial-strength ibuprofen for the hip pain, and said I don't need to come back to see him for three months.

Also gave me a 'script for Chantix, so I'll be giving that a whirl and see if I can lose the habit ... hopefully without going suicidal/homicidal ...

If I manage that, I might have to take a cue from MG and put that Cannondale that's been gathering dust in the garage for the last ten years to some good use.

Gonna see if I can get an appointment to get my ears lowered later today.

Good Morning! 48F @ 5:30AM. Rain showers early with scattered thunderstorms arriving for the afternoon. High 51F. Winds SSE at 5 to 10 mph. Chance of rain 50%.

Hard rain and strong wind started in here about 2:30AM dumping about 3/4" inch. Looks like the bulk of the front is through, so just scattered showers for the rest of the day.

Managed to mount the skylight lens on the van yesterday, but need to locate some longer screws to attach the control housing on the inside. Also need new screws to mount the luggage carrier, which I ordered along with an instrument cluster repair kit this morning. VW used a printed film wiring harness inside the instruments, and the one on this van is broken in several places. The kit also updates all the bulbs to LED, so once it's installed I'll likely never have to go in there again.

The drama continues at the mechanic's place: He fired one of his helpers at the end of the day yesterday, the one that was installing the A/C in the van. Said the fella just needed too much hand holding, and from my observations he's right. So if you know any VW mechanics looking for work, there's an opening in Chico, CA.:confused2:

Happy Hump Day everyone!
