Sodamo is that the one you can program to follow you around while you jog or bike?

.

Don, I remember reading about that somewhere but not sure how it applies to this model. A feature I do hope to use is plotting a course on the map or setting waypoints. On my list to learn that.

That shovel is what I what I mind, just couldn't remember the name :)

David, how did you choose the drone that you ended up with? I saw an advertisement yesterday for the new Mavic, and when I went to DJI's web site to check it out I found a bewildering selection of models. Their Buying Guides page was no help at all: Over two dozen articles when I was hoping for just a comparison chart...

Enjoy the weekend, all!

Daunting, to say the least. Been reading and researching on and off this past year when a tenant had a P3P and shared some of his pics. Then our visitor from Canada showed up with one in Jan. He had barely flown it due to wx so I got to observe him progress over 6 weeks. Also had a brief chance at the controls myself. The DJI site has good comparison within same model line but not across lines as far as I could tell.
But reality was BUDGET for me. Just wasn't willing to pay for advanced features just because they were new. I save that for getting my new iPhone every 2 years LOL. So I ended up getting a bundle similar to my friend's, extra battery, props, etc for what seems a decent price from an authorized eBay seller. Had to pay shipping, but not totally unexpected and it came a week earlier via FedEx. Sometimes, there are great deals on refurbished, I think it was newegg had one for $569 just after I ordered mine. Then I could have gotten the additional items separately and possibly saved a bit, just the possibility of extra shipping hassle (sometimes a challenge to Hawaii).

So, bottomline my decision was to get what my friend has based on observed experience limited by tweaking my budget to pay for a bit more than I needed without feeling I did so wastefully. Of course it's a given that once I've mastered this one I'll bump up against a limitation that was solvable by spending more.

Good morning all... I think the toilets are finally fixed and the switch was replaced on propane stove this morning. Now I can get going on some spring clean up projects (after the daughter's group leaves in a couple hours)..

I am considering buying a part from OReilly's, perhaps some of you have some feedback... goto Oreilly's website and search for 121G. Let me know what you think?

Got my pilot fixed. They had a list of things that needed fixed, but weren't pushy, even gave me a $50 coupon towards the cost.
Watching bball now. My bracket got busted with Villanova losing.
Got to around 50° today, majority of snow now gone.

Good evening all. 61F this morning, overcast and light wind. Clouds started breaking up about 11AM, winds stayed light and temp made it to 81F, real nice day for riding. Left the house @ 7:50, got back @ 2:09PM. Short nap, shower and ready to head to town for supper with the wife. One flat and 64 miles on the odo. Need to finish research on energy bars and start testing, 3 weeks till 180 miles in 3 days.

Drew diamond wheels will not work well on hardened tool steel. We used either AL2O3 wheels or borazon wheels. Diamonds get too hot and break down when used on steel. Diamonds work best on non-ferrous material.

I've seen those used on "Back to the Future". Pretty cool device to see your parents as kids.:D

Good morning. Looks like being a breezy day again.

Found a big hawthorn down yesterday, ripped out roots 'n' all. It is the second one to come down out of a group of about a dozen that have grown up in the middle of a field, around what looks like old clay workings. Either they became established at a time when this was all arable, with nothing to graze them off, or perhaps they got chance to first grow there while the railway was being constructed, as they are not far from where a deep embankment was dug out. Maybe I should coppice the rest one day and give them chance to rejuvenate before they all meet the same inevitable fate.

Sodamo, hope you soon master the controls on your new toy, or you could be doing some unintended coppicing too. :)

65°F and .86 inches rain last 24 hours. Need the rain. Looks like it will be a wet day.

So if I take this opportunity to hone my skills with my new aerial tractor in the living room I guess the results could be awesome or disastrous. :) with only single 10 minute flight so far lots of honing needed.
An inside day for sure unless the wx changes.
Be safe
Have a great day

Dearly beloved bought me the Phantom 2 for Xmas in 2015. I promptly opened the package and tried to fly it in our living room.
After hitting the ceiling fan, clearing the mantle off over the wood stove, knocking both of our coffee cups over, and nearly cutting my big toe off after a near brush with death involving her hair, it has been declared a no fly zone within the castle henceforth.

hmmmm, this is what I bought:
Amazon.com: Lenox Tools 1972921 METALMAX Diamond Edge Cutoff Wheel, 4.5" x 7/8": Home Improvement
I couldn't find much on the AL203 but the borazon wheels started in the $300-500 range, gulp.
Any suggestions on something less expensive?
Most of my steel is not hardened but a couple of the pieces I'm working on take a real beating and the hardened steel
seems like the right stuff. Of course I could always use thicker non hardened steel too. Probably the toughest cut I have is across quarter inch hardened
steel for about four inches, on non hardened quarter inch for five inches.

is this what folks use a plasma cutter on?

Happy Sunday morning to all.
42 degrees here, not going up much today with possible rain coming in from the North.
I had hoped to plant those 25 hybrid willows today but will keep an eye on the rain too. Cold and wet
is not very motivating.

I would use a plasma cutter for that range of thicknesses, as it's much faster than using a cutoff wheel, which tends to wear out rapidly as the metal thickness increases. I seem to remember RS using zip discs (abrasive cutoff wheels) extensively when he was building his log splitter, or was it his grapple, and those were fairly thick sections. Harbor Freight sell a large number of inexpensive cutoff wheels that seem to work well enough for me. The thinner and coarser the grit the faster they cut. Much less expensive than a plasma outfit, and probably more appropriate when only occasional use is anticipated.

I think that game busted everybody's bracket.
