David (moss) Hang in there. Interview process is much harder on the job seeker. I remember interviewing Cessna in the late 70's. Everyone was nice, but said don't take job layoffs were coming. 3 days after got the job offer, got the layoff notice, before I had accepted the job  :confused2:

Speaking of chains, will be going through the winter with no serious snow removal gear.

48F. Mid 50's today and sunny afternoon, frost tonight. The snow is out of the forecast Sunday. The storm is tracking to our east they say.

Someone stole my gubernatorial candidate sign that was at the end of our driveway. Maybe it's an omen, the last time that happened my choice won. I'm trying to figure the odds; was it a supporter who couldn't get their own sign, or was it someone incensed by seeing the name?

I found the mysteriously missing green plastic ball today. Sira is happy about that. It was about 30' out into the deep grass and weeds that I only mow once per year or so--but on the other side of the house from the fenced area. I cut down a dead soft maple and it almost fell on top of the ball. No sign of the plastic bone that went missing at the same time but I bet it is out in the tall grass or woods somewhere. It makes no sense for a critter to carry around something they can't eat.

The lava flow in Hawaii is strange stuff. What do you do if it cuts across your yard? Instant rock garden? Build a lawnmower bridge for the far side? I wonder how long it stays warm? Could you rebuild your house above it on pilings? Maybe Sodamo can expound on lava flows.

Off to a Planning Board meeting this evening. Apparently someone thinks they will build something. We'll just see about that. Just kidding. Our permit application process is very relaxed.

Yep, in Texas ours is also.

Kyle, did you see where they hit the self destruct button on the spacecraft launch? They had to blow it up because it was not going to make orbit and they did not want it to crash in a populated area.

I've seen pics of that. Funny guy.

Three permits issued tonight:
Add a half-story to an existing lakeside camp.
A mobile home bunkhouse on a family member's land with no running water but eventually to have a self-contained composting toilet and grey water system.
Add a bunkhouse to a lakeside camp lot, upgrade the septic system, tear down and replace a small shed, and maybe alter the boat slip.

We don't have any structural construction requirements. You can use cardboard if you meet the setbacks and the shoreland zoning rules if within 250' of the lake. Septic systems have to be designed by a licensed person. Contractors working within the shoreland zone or wetlands have to be certified--primarily for erosion control purposes.

Towns with a population over 4,000 have to comply with a minimum statewide building code.

37 right now...high of 50 today and clear.

Doctor's appointment went well...I had thought I broke my toe again but there's always the possibility of clot in the leg causing a purple toe. Had the same thing last year and it hurts most when lying down. Anyway, no break and probably just bruised, but bruised toes heal slowly.

sorry you are limping a bit Roy, that must be an annoyance.
are you sure you aren't stubbing your toe on the same thing every morning?...:D
hope it feels better soon.

47 degrees going up only to 65 today.
Might go dig a few holes later with my new phd if I can get it hooked up. Comes with a stand but this unit is twice as heavy as the last one, but sure looks like it will get the job done with this 18 inch auger attached. But the bad news is the the dealer sent out a PD25 they had ordered in that had been dragged down concrete on one side, nice beige paint scraped off for a foot, and the Land Pride sticker half torn off. And this after telling the salesperson, who clearly did not check this thing out before service delivered it, how important it was for me that the implement come in nice condition. Well, I'll ask for a can of paint and a decal and that's about all I can do. Otherwise it's just cosmetic but enough to wear down into the metal surface. C'mon delivery bozo, like you did not see this?....yeah right.

well, off to get a haircut today. New barber, he asked me if I wanted a "medium". Yup, that sounds right, and my "medium" last time was just fine.

Coffee is done brewing. 42° with cloudy skies this morning. Heading to 41° and lower as a front moves in that may drop some snow on us before the day is over. Picked up 3 more loads of leaves yesterday. Must be a banner year for leaves. I usually get 3 to 4 loads each fall. Still need to do front yard when they all fall. Taking my Uncle back to the airport today.
David, keep up the search. Should work out soon.
Roy, hope your foot gets better.
Happy Halloween.
Good Morning All.
