54 chilly degrees this morning high of 80 today heat builds for weekend. Ed be careful hot this weekend with deracho possible this weekend bad stuff if you remember the last one we were without power for 5 days

I was just seeing the heat, had not herd about the possible deracho. Had enough of them Went without power for 4 1/2 days. Being a caregiver with no electricty is no fun at all. Thanks for the tip. Ed

49 and feels colder after feeding birds and playing Frisbee with Coco for the last hour in a t-shirt. Pure blue skies. Should hit 80.

Walked up on thrasher sitting on her nest about 2 feet off the ground in a honeysuckle thicket - too cold for her to fly away.

Buppies - thanks for the warning on the derecho...the last one was also in June, in 2012, and hit our area hard, too...many trees blown down...we lost power for days, too.

I had to look it up, nasty weather event, wide scale damage: What is a derecho? - CBS News

But another drop dead gorgeous day here. The after the big rain feeling, everything green as can be, and the humidity has dropped a great deal.

I'm headed back down to the barn, got the new carb on the 1968 CC, and it started and purred! :dance1:Amazing...until I realized I had the choke on backwards and by turning off the choke it then turned it on and the engine died. They sent a second choke part that I need to swap out for the one installed so the choke cable lines up in the right spot. This engine hasn't run since the day I bought it and brought it home almost four years ago. And it just ran beautifully for about five seconds until turned off.
I had changed the oil for storage, but will change it again. Definitely putting "old fashioned" 30W Pennzoil back in. And now I know why they make balancer kits for this engine, a real shaker. I almost thought the engine mounts were loose but they weren't. Ancient 12hp Kohler, will easily outlast me. If it runs this well at 48 years old, granted I was told it had been rebuilt, and it looked like someone had gotten in it, then it will surely run another 48 years. By then we'll be buying gasoline in little cans like chainsaw gas, as we will then be burning 100% corn oil with added husks...hard to believe 15% corn gas is now being peddled.

Poured second cup of coffee. 42° with clouds and sun this morning. Heading to 73° with sunny skies. Windows in house are sparkling clear. Back to tractor projects. Set a concrete bench for neighbor. It weighs about 400 lbs. Then put BH on and dig another neighbor a trench for water supply to barn. That should fill most of the day.
Ed, I have Comcast with phone. Use their model without Wi-Fi. Then have my own router. Much easier to work with and has a longer range. Costco and Amazon sell the modem way cheaper than paying Comcast a monthly fee for it. Something to look into when you get settled in new place.
Eric, we like trains. Have one planed for next winter in AZ. Another project I need to complete. Going to get rid of the Comcast phone and use iPhone and Panasonic KX-TG with Bluetooth to link to home phones.
Good Morning All.

I'll have to start looking for pants with cargo pockets so bending will be easy or maybe a sideways belt holder.

Yes to buying a router and not leasing; in one year you have paid for the router anyway and then the fee is simply excessive for a maintenance plan.
Besides, you can buy better routers usually yourself, with longer range. If you have your computer equipment on a good surge protector/UPS, I've found they last a long time. Only had one die in 20 years. Assuming you are going to be where you are for at least several years, even buying their router at their silly list price is a better deal than 7 or 8 bucks a month. They would have to lower the lease to 2 dollars a month for it to make sense to me. But then I owned a Radio Shack for five years and know enough to be dangerous, and buying a good modem at the local office depot has always worked. One came with my cable service and I don't pay a monthly fee for that; it's already stuffed in the monthly programming fee I'm sure.
And everything keeps going up...

I hope you all have a great day. The sky is blue here. It's a beautiful morning.

56 this morning and headed to 86 today. 90's rest of the week.

Rolled 113 bales of hay yesterday. Was dark when finished so not 100% on count. New rake is working awesome. Sure makes my job easier.

It's a setup chicken coops day today. Well after I move the tractor and rake back home. Dads going to start cutting on the last farm. Looking at around 200-250 bales there. Then first cutting will be done.

Tried the otter box defender but didn't like it because of how much dust it let in. I was having to clean it at least daily. I spend my days in dusty environments though. My preferred case is a Lifeproof. Had 2 on my 4s and now one on my 6. It's in rough shape but it's like 12-14 months old so I'm good with it. Plus I carry it in my pocket. I found the belt clips were harder on the cases than keys in your pockets. Need to go see how long the warranty for this case was and if I can get it replaced.

Good morning! 69˚ heading to 90˚ not a cloud in the sky. Lots of things to do, nothing I have to do. We had 14 players at our season opener of water volleyball yesterday. Water temp was 86˚. We only had one couple that did not make it because of TMB. They were the last of the original group which started 22 years ago.

Rick, I need those pants.

Derecho? I learn something new every morning.

Never heard of a Derecho. We have had some summer storms, that included straight line winds, 70 plus mph, that took down lots of power lines. I think I have used my generators more in summer than the rest of the year.

Good Morning! 57F @ 6:00AM. Abundant sunshine. High 88F. Winds S at 5 to 10 mph.

Still no word on the missing kayaker, even with a lot of search activity yesterday. Lots of boats, an occasional helicopter, and people on foot along the banks of the reservoir.

Good progress on the van yesterday; front and both sides of roof are loose. But ran into trouble getting the rear door off so I could work on that end. The Allen flat head screws refuse to turn, even after heating enough to burn the paint off. And the shallow Allen sockets are already threatening to strip. Gave it a good dose of Kroil then knocked off for the day; fingers crossed for a miracle this morning.

Derecho means "straight". It really like an inland hurricane.

Good morning, cool here to. Rain is coming our way and will hit 85 later, Don't know If I dare hit the last end-tails with stain now or not. Would be nice to be done with this project.

Derecho is basically a storm front that stays together over a long distance, and the last one kicked butt here! Otter box is the shiz, like someone said, if you can deal with the size. I like mine, dropped my phone from 18" onto vinyl flooring with the old cover, screen shattered, dropped this one from 3' onto tile and not a scratch. C ool this morning, around 48° early, 67° now and upper 70's later. We had strong winds yesterday, blew over my glider on the deck, had gusts over 40 mph.

Drew is right, buy your own router, and make sure it's current generation, I have Comcast service, with my old router the download speed was high 20's-30's, it jumped to 180.04 this morning, and upload is 12.08, supposed to be throttled at 180/12.

My BH has derecho phobia.

Had to know it, As soon as I finished the last end-tail it started to rain. So I put a plastic sheet up around it and we will just have to see how it turns out. Weather man was off by 2 hours. :mur: :mur:

It seems to be working if it don't rain any harder. DSC04213.JPGDSC04214.JPG

Wow toppop, that is fast. I only have about 20M / 2M could have 100M / 10M if they would run fiber and they won't do that for one place 1/2 mile off the road. :duh:

64F and clear @ 11:00 ... heading up to a high of 73F. Mix of sun and clouds tomorrow with a high of 78F.

Finally some joy in NEO last night.

Have to go investigate the cooling system leak in the Sprinter here as soon as I've had my coffee then trip to two different Home Depots to pick up 55 pieces of 3" PVC conduit.

After that probably put the backhoe on for tomorrow's trenching project and make sure the tractor is ready for a little road trip.

Might try to get the last two triangular panels cut out and mebbe start welding some of them on if I have time.
