wet wet wet
rained all night, going to rain all day too

Slept ok in TT, pillow top on mattress did the trick but still not like home, never is...
Sound of rain very nice.
Going to flush the tanks, button it up, and head for home. Not an outside day for sure, another inch of rain predicted and the radar is a blaze of colors.

Don, wise move. I think you can rule out is the battery, and I'm sure you have already. One thing I have read here about Kubota batteries is they last a long time. I wonder who supplies them?

If the battery connections are tight, and I'd take them off and put them back on (that fooled me once before) then my guess is on the ignition switch.

Two big deer walking by the deck this morning in the fog and rain look like ghosts

Today another engineers holiday

Don wise move on tree hopefully they can cut it up without further damage to backhoe

Good morning all. 57 here this morning going to 72. Got some of my wife's nephews coming over today and we are going to get some of the furniture I have in storage and being it closet to the new house. Finely get to use some of it after all these years. Will get another load tomorrow.

Don Pull the battery terminals and clean them. It is the cheepest and easiest fix and often takes care of the problem. Glad to see you are not trying to do something with that tree that you don't feel right doing. Often that is when things go bad.

Yankeeyrider Glad to hear about you being tired and retired. Enjoy all of the work you are going to find yourself doing. Ed

62, rain, and more rain and 74 on the way.

Big boomers last night. I put the WeatherBug app on my wife's Kindle recently, and saw it had a lightning strike feature...boy, last night it was really lit up.

Fortunately, we had several hours of sun yesterday between rains, and it dried enough for me to get most of my mowing done...3.5 hours worth...grass and weeds are growing so fast.

it's lighting up here for sure, what a ride home. Severe Thunderstorm lights up on the dash in big letters, and it was wipers on high the whole way. Big front just went through, over an inch of rain so far and clearly more to come. No gentle rain here....coming at you North of here

correction: radar shows this is going out to sea, just rain further North
It was a Carolina storm

Still lightly raining here but worst was over last night and a big cool down Thursday may not get out of 50s with snow on highest mountain tops in NC. We were very dry so the rain much needed

50 this morning and headed to 66 today. Very cool week. Check calendar yep it's May.

Think I'm going to get back on the dozer this morning and finish going around my fences. Need to service dozer sometime also. Then after lunch it's haul a calf over to the slaughterhouse. Then maybe back before helper gets out of school. If not he'll get the afternoon off.

Congrats on the retirement. You'll be busier than ever.

Thanks for all the retirement wishes, gents. I've always enjoyed this thread when I found time to read it. Being here became one of my retirement goals, we'll see how successful i can be at it.

I was a bit concerned for all you guys in the mid-Atlantic region after seeing yesterday afternoon's weather forecast, glad no reports of significant issues this morning. My biggest accomplishment yesterday was finally clearing off the last of my workbenches which I haven't seen the top of in the last couple of years. Since I won't be able to do anything of significance outside this week, I'm going to focus on workshop cleanup and see if Ican discipline myself to keep them more orderly. My father-in-law used to speak admiringly of his old farmer friend (a gent we referred to as "Old Harold") who at the age of 91 would go to the barn, get a hammer, drive a few staples, then shuffle back to the barn and put the hammer away before finishing the rest of the work.

Have a good and safe day everyone.

Old boy probably learned that if he didn't put things away, he'd never find them again. I'm trying to learn the same thing. Progress is intermittent....😎

Buppies, I should leave the weather to you, the storm has intensified and is now coming up the coast.

Good morning! A cool 54˚ this morning is it January or May in Texas? This is wonderful, mostly sunny day, waiting for my tree man to call. I'm interested to see If he is thinking the same as me and would make the first cut the same place I would have, and what his plan is to keep extra weight off the BH during the process.

A intermittent ignition switch problem makes sense with all the senerios obseved. The instrument panel will either come on and it will imeadiately crank or the instrument panel will not come on and everthing (lights, cranking) is off. The battery connections are very tight and clean, but it's a good idea to move them around a bit and clean the inside of the terminals.

Remember what your wife said the very first time?

You may be over thinking this ?

Yesterday started dreary, but turned out in the 80's and sunny, mowed my grass and got an antique aircraft show, then big storms last night, 2" of rain in the last 48 hours, more today. The pattern of cool dreary days with off and on rain seems set until Saturday.

She did change her mind after she actually went behind the barn and looked at it. Her suggestion was to build something under the tree to take the weight off before cutting - withot getting too close to the tree. ???

Mid 50's here as well. Should be a nice rain free week here but, more rain in forecast for next week. May be able to get some pasture work with tractors soon.

Be careful Don and good luck with your tractor ignition issue!
