Good morning!!!!

41F and overcast ... high for the day predicted to be 66F with mostly cloudy skies, but with a little sun here and there.

Got a few things done yesterday:

Have oil filter and most of the oil for the o.c. on the Kubota, probably have to pick up an additional quart.

Probably just go ahead and pick up the complete seal kits for the bucket cylinders since the price seems fairly reasonable @ $50 per ...

Replaced the hydraulic hose on the grapple.

Found some angle that will work to protect the locking pins on the QA, didn't get it cut tho' ...

Ordered turn signal housing for The Woman's car ... about $40 with the shipping.

Didn't get Weather Pack connector installed ... did manage to do a little surgery on the bucket and pallet forks though:

IMG_0282.jpg

RNG,

I did "fill the gap" on the pallet forks ... :D

IMG_0284.jpg

What happens to a zip disc when it's spinning @ 10,000 rpm and it gets pinched (not good):

IMG_0280.jpg

On today's menu:

1. Weather Pack connector

2. A little more research on bushings for bucket cylinders

3. See if I can find a good location for mounting the centrifuge filter on the Kubota. Not very likely but worth a shot.

4. Remove MMM, sharpen spare set of mower blades.

5. If sun ever comes out: rake leaves off topsoil I have piled up behind the polebarn and shove it over a little, so the trail is more open ... so's I can move brush to the south end of the property.

6. Clean up shop and put tools away.

7. Make calls/faxes to various authorities regarding Junior.

62 this morning and headed to 83 today. Pop up thunderstorms all day. Had .52 inches last night when a pretty good line moved through. NWS is in Newburg, IN today checking to see if their tornado warning was just that. A rare warning here as it stated they had a confirmation of a tornado on the ground. Most are radar indicated.

Spent time yesterday on the dozer going around the back fence making the path wide enough for the tractor. Could only get a 4-wheeler all the way around it before. The beauty of the dozer is if it doesn't fit just start digging and pushing and it will eventually.

Think I'll go see about cutting some logs up into firewood and hauling them back today. Of course after I take care of cows and birds and between rain.

Don. Hopefully the dam repair holds. Looks a little loose on water edge. Drew has an idea. Some rip rap on that edge may help hold it. I need to make some repairs to my spillway this summer if I pull my pond down enough.

Good morning! 62˚ raining. The first line of rain hit at 3am now the second line is moving through. I had a tough time fixing the dam yesterday, half of the time I got a load of dirt I had to dump it because I started sinking. I finally did pug up the hole in the dam and the the small sand catching/frog pond should rise 4 feet today.

actually the best part here was your dog. Cool picture of he/she pointing at something in the water. That water is the same color as around here, strong tea. Pine trees locally? Tannins?

RS, good reason to wear safety glasses. Or maybe a full face shield...
When are you going to paint that thing? No slacking off now.

All the streams in northeastern NC look like that, we use to call it Juniper water, no idea why.
50's today after 85° yesterday, quite a shock to the system, but some much needed moisture.

Morning guys, slept good last night. Heading out to get a replacement outdoor faucet, cat food, softener salt, bird food, and a new pair of bluejeans.

Cold, damp and cloudy, Rain and more gloom is the forecast. 42 now maybe hit 58 later.
No word on Mark's brother Jeff but I ain't going to bug him. Ed, Jeff was exposed to some bad poison working for NALCO years ago so he has always been on lots of pills. Well the pills and boose got the best of his gut and liver and he was bleeding out and they could not get it to stop right away where he was but once they got him stable they air lifted him to Loma Linda University Medical Center in Loma Linda, CA. Still don't know the outcome yet. The guy is only 57 years old.

Contacted Hernando County and left message to have Deputy Belfry contact me regarding Finch and whether he was in possession of my property at the time of his arrest.

Also left a message for the Judicial Assistant to Judge Ruth Becker in Marathon, FL that I have additional information regarding a defendant who is currently in custody in Hernando and will likely be appearing before Judge Becker again in the near future ...

Got an almost immediate call back from Judge Becker's Judicial Assistant, who referred me to the State's Attorney's office who said that due to the misdemeanor nature of the original charges, he probably wouldn't be brought back to Marathon. (Basically a big F. Y. to da Judge on the written promise to appear ... and some people really wonder why we have scofflaws ...)

Next spoke to the Warrants Division of Summit County (Ohio) Sheriff's Office and filled them in. Found out that since the outstanding warrant on Ol' Seth is a Class 3 Felony (not Class 1 or 2) and the original crime has already been tried, he's not automatically on nationwide pick up (extradition)

But I did find out that they change that status all the time on Class 3 and 4 Felonies ... based on requests from the County Prosecutor.

So the next call was to Jennifer Watson, who is an Assistant to Brad Guessner, the Lead Prosecutor for Summit County ... to info her on Seth's present incarceration and see if they might interested in changing Seth's status to:

Next call will be to the local US Attorney to see if they wanna get in on this action ...

Good Morning! 55F @ 9:15AM. Rain showers early becoming more intermittent for the afternoon. Thunder possible. High near 70F. SSW winds shifting to NW at 10 to 15 mph. Chance of rain 50%.

Good hunting RS. Revenge is sweet...

Returned the neighbor's trailer yesterday and he seemed pleased with the new winch mount and pigtail. He was also somewhat embarassed by the tongue popping off the hitch story, but had a good excuse: he's a long haul trucker that had just gotten back from an overnight trip to the SF Bay Area, and was still a bit rummy when he was attaching the hitch. Next time I'll double check his work, or just do it myself now that I know how it's supposed to work.

Finally got a chance to swap out the drive shaft for the flail mower and give it a try. It went through everything I threw at it, including 2" dry oak limbs and 24" tall grass. It bogged a bit in the tall grass, but slowing down was all that was needed. The ground here is not only steep but very uneven, and that showed in some of the cutting, and also led to several scalped areas, but I figure after a few growing seasons those spots will be recontoured and won't be a problem. The main thing is that it left the greenery no more than 3" high, short enough to control the yellow star thistle if/when it comes up again this summer. That'll save me from having to spray it out with glyphosate, something that's not only time consuming but also expensive.

Happy Hump Day gentlemen!

85 in sunshine, rain a no show, back to watering, several hours mowing done and got it finished; shower felt great after that.
Need to go outside later and hook up weight distributing hitch to the truck, heavy contraption and some assembly required before I can pull the trailer.
Hope I can remember what he told me several months ago. Not overly motivated, a/c feels nice...took my shirt off while mowing and got a little color.
This time I put bug spray on first and those Zika bugs must have flown elsewhere. I don't like the feel of sun tan lotion or bug spray on my skin, but the alternatives
are worse. Always feels great to wash it off.

Don, would it help to mix some stone in the walls of that pond/dam to reduce erosion?

It only rained .6" and the pond filled a foot.
I do have some pavers left over for a nice spillway, rocks would also work . . . .:applause:

. . . but it won't be dry enough till Ron's next trip south . . .

The day after our VFD water rescue another VFD in our County also conducted a water rescue on another flooded road. Theirs required the use of a helicopter. 4 days after the rescue, the driver was served with 2 warrants and taken into custody- "Endangering a child" and "Disobeying Signs/barricades". Her bond is $14,000.

She will also get the bill for the helicopter.

73°F and .3 inches rain since midnight.

Adjusting to time change and working some issues that arose during absence. Having a generator issue I'll post more later. Our youngest Boxer had to visit Vet and treated for congestive heart problem.

Be safe
Have a great day.

Glad they are safe. However, I like this approach by your county - it is the only fair way to deal with intentionally irresponsible users of tax paid services and putting others at risk.

Sorry to hear about your dog.

Well I guess I will have to change my tractor list soon, I got word that the loan went through for the people buying the Massey and all of the equipment. Sad thought and a relief at the same time. I'll soon be a city slicker. Ed

Ed, at least you have lived the life. Many have no clue. I can see the day when I will need to return to the town life, city??? Nope. Property takes work and if your like me and don't have anyone close to help you out when it gets to be too much,,,well you just got to change plans. No shame in that.

Raining and crappy cold.

Mark my good friend called me to update me on his brother Jeff. Well after they got Jeff to Loma Linda University Medical Center in Loma Linda, CA. They found out that the first hospital in San Diego had it all wrong. His liver is not the problem. The big bleed was in his esophagus and even after they scoped it they missed the problem. To add insult to injury he contracted a MRSA staph infection at the first hospital in San Diego. WOW what next???

Went shopping with the money I did not spend up north and got two pairs of new jeans, some pocket T shirts, and some new briefs. I got the outdoor faucet but ain't going to change it in the rain and found out my PVC glue is dried out so now I have to get some of that anyway.
Tomorrow I will donate some blood at the church, they always have good home-made soup for those who donate. Won't help Jeff but maybe someone else in need. Good to bleed out now and then anyway.

So I may not check in in the morning with all the running I have planned.
Later

A bittersweet moment. I will say a prayer that your future is going to be better.

RS, I wouldn't hold my breath to get that chainsaw back, but if the kid gets an extra month of time from it......

RNG, keep us posted on the cray-cray colored vanagan saga, (sorry, but it looks like the same color as cat vomit to me, but I would love to drive it around). Maybe beauty truly is in the eye of the beer holder. Maybe you can get the color matched and repaint it shiny.

Dave Sodamo, hope your dog can get better. Glad you had a good trip. TMI, if you're like me, I usually can't wait to get back home. Especially to use the restroom in my own restroom...

Don, I saw that article in the paper and was wondering if it was the same case you had previously mentioned...but no it wasn't. The photo in the paper showed that she had "passed out" from the stress of the event. Probably never been rescued by a helicopter before. A nickel says she doesn't know how to swim.

Ron, it sounds like Don is saving up reasons for you to head back down here soon.

Last nights storm flooded the garden yet again. It is taken over by nutsedge. The onions are blooming so I guess it's time to pull them.

Good evening all. 63F this morning nice and clear after last nights thunderstorms. .8 in rain in the rain gauge. Made if to 77F with light west wind. Looked at a 48V Golf cart today, rode bike and picked up downed branches, elsewhere in the neighborhood, some large trees got blown over, so we were lucky.
