good morning all. 42F this morning, clear and calm. Don hogged all the rain yesterday, got the bike ride in and ran errands, no putter jobs done. TMA includes finish March billing and golf.

rain stopped, day cleared up, beautiful blue sky out, about 60 degrees and the Burpee seeds came in.
Well.....not going to wait on them. So edible pod peas, blue Lake and Tenderpod bush beans and cucumbers planted today. So easy to plant, just push the seeds with one finger.
Only used about a quarter of the seeds they sent me.

What's the best way of keeping seeds for the next year?
I'm going to put a few in pots, but otherwise will use most next year.
What helps preserve second year germination?

Cold preserves germination. It slows the metabolism of the seed and they don't use up all their food reserves waiting to be planted. When I worked farm supply they owned their own seed line and use to ship corn, soybeans and wheat up into Wisconsin and northern Iowa area because there are big refrigerator warehouses up there. Next years seed would only loose about 5% germination if that much.

Rubber band them together and place in freezer.

Blue on,
Farmer, thanks for the purple deadnettle Info. Been too windy to spray. Used to use weed and feed around the house, but cut back due to cost.

Your welcome. laughing. I will weed around the house but I only feed where there is ROI. Another words pasture and hay ground. I never fertilize if it's going to increase the frequency of mowing. I'm happy with once every two weeks. And during the summer once a month. If we get rain seems I'm mowing once a week though. Must be doing something wrong. I leave my clippings on the grass to decay. Maybe that's my problem I need to start raking and baling the mowed areas. It would get me a few square bales a year, but I don't have a square baler either.

What a wonderful trip itinerary. Hope yall have a great time.

Thanks again all for all the Blue. Autism is becoming more common each year. I pray they can figure out what is causing it.

Farmer, I pray for your son and for you and your wife. While the disease can bring frustrating moments, I wouldn't change a thing about our Finnly, she is a blessing to our family.

Thanks Kyle. If he'd only talk we wouldn't have many concerns and we wouldn't be looking for answers. Once you have his attention he understands you. But there is no communication back. Not to mention he's a hard headed and stubborn little boy. He gets frustrated because of the length of time it sometimes takes us to figure out his wants. His therapist think there is some autistic characteristics about him.

David. Safe travels. Sounds interesting.

Kyle nice seascape drawing, lots of interesting litte things to enjoy.

David S. Your trip led me to explore trains and my wife found her dream DC/New York Vacation this morning (for 2017).

Buckeye - Happy Anniversary!

The stress is over, the truck is unloaded and it was like I thought, every piece was too heavy for one tractor nothing was easy. But now half the job is done with all the parts on property and no damaged equipment or people. Next week I'll have to figure out how to manuver each piece in the right place. Hmmm . . Tractor Dancing.

Good morning. I woke up this morning before the daily "Take Max Out" alarm on my phone had chance to rouse me. The birds outside had woken me early, in stereo.

Although my hearing is starting to fail, there is still nothing more pleasant than to wake up listening to birdsong, singing out that springtime is here - except that didn't happen this morning.
Even with the bed covering pulled up over my ears, I couldn't fail to hear the woodpecker, hammering away in search of grubs who were more than a little reluctant to become breakfast. Each time the woodpecker paused, a cock pheasant called out even louder in encouragement from the field behind. Time to get up.

Hopefully it will soon dry up, then I will get the stick welder out and have another play. When you see RS's awesome fabrication talents, multiply that skill level by 0.001 and you can get an idea of where my welding ability is right now :)

Thank you to Finnly for letting us see another of her pictures. Her ocean looks to be a very happy place, where so many creatures have time for a smile.

Well done Don in getting those heavy beams unloaded. If you keep on dancing with tractors it could be a good draw at your local summer fair. These dancing diggers are always a big attraction JCB Tractor Dancing - J C Balls - YouTube

Yikes! That awful S word....
and I"m trying to decide if I can risk putting tomato plants in this week with two nights predicted going down to 35. Am thinking tomato plants won't like those temps, best to wait another week.

54 degrees, not going up much, very windy out
Up way too early, cooking chicken sausage for breakfast, going to have a nice Sunday morning breakfast and then go powerwash equipment for several hours. Need to clean all the pollen off everything. I powerwash and then use the leaf blower to dry everything off, then I run all engines and mower decks afterward. I usually stick with just air blasting but sometimes you just have to wash...
After doing this for several hours, I think my resolve will be firmed up to enclose one of the barn side sheds so I can at least keep my garden tractors clean.

37 going to 56 and sunny. Felt like the wind was trying to blow the house over last night. Jumped out of bed last night and ran outside to secure a few things. Time to go hike around looking to see if any damage now that it's light.

I'll have some time today to go read the grapple thread, and am looking forward to it.

Enjoyed our basketball game last night. Go Heels!

29 right now...brrrr!
And, according to Weather Underground, that's about as warm as it's going to get.

Still fighting this cold...aches pretty much subsided and the coughing fits aren't as bad

Good morning all. The wend here blew like crazy here last night. They were calling for 50 mph gusts and from the sound I would say we got them. 34 at 530 this morning going to 52. Got up yesterday and read a little and then went back to bed. got up about 8:00 and started helping with breakfast. Had people come and look at the tractor and my guess is they will buy it if they can get the $$$$$. Today just taking it easy. Other than the daily stuff nothing planed. Sorry I missed the Blue shirt day. I would have gone out and bought one. We take care of my wife's brother. He lives life on a one year old level but understands much more. Says a few words but does not reply to questions. He is the best person I ever met, He is always trying to do the right thing, sometimes trying so hard that you cant help him with what he needs. He is my boy.

Buckeye, Happy anniversary. Ed

31 this morning and headed to 66 today.

Well mowing didn't get done yesterday. It was so windy it wouldn't have done any good to pickup the yard. Did get the Massey out and took the loader off it, a quick rinse with garden hose and then a service. Servicing that old tractor ain't bad. It's an oil and filter change then grease the front end. No hydraulic filter and with the loader on the hydraulic oil is self changing. Run 4-5 hours add about 3 gallons. Without the loader you won't add any all month. Now to move it to my grandfathers. He's wanting it to pull tops with. They're logging his place and he wants the tops. Then if the wind dies I'll work on the yard.

Happy anniversary buckeye.

Eric. Must be nice being able to sleep where you can here the birds. We can't for one my allergies won't let me. Second the number of cars out here without a muffler is just amazing. In and out all day and night. Even with the windows closed it sounds like they are in the driveway and are 1000' away.

Poured first cup of coffee. 60° with clear skies this morning. Heading to 86° with lots of sunshine. Time to start preparing for our trip home. Got until next Sunday to get projects completed. Couple each day should get them completed. Top of list is grease motorhome chassis. Going to tryout the Lincoln pistol grip grease gun similar to one Eric bought last year.
