71°F and .28 inches rain.
Yesterday morning finally dried out enough for a later start and made some progress. Then a call from a neighbor.
Kelvin is a local, retired police officer, has lived at bottom of the hill since way before we moved here and raises beef cattle. He had cattle on our property when we bought but eventually moved them off. He has been loosing grazing area to the potato farmers the past year or so. I heard the potato farmers may be paying $1000/acre. Anyway, I had let him know he could graze about 5 acres each end of my property if he fenced it, of course I would pay for the materials. Each piece is already fenced 2 sides, but not the other sides. So yesterday we went over that. Approx 2100 ft of hog wire, 3 12ft gates. Fencing is another of his talents, having done part of our original fencing 20 years ago. I see 2 potential benefits. 1 being reduced mowing and 2 cut down on the pig incursion. I possibly could get a property tax benefit on that 10 acres but not counting on it as the County is finalizing new rules. Some a potentially expensive ordeal for me with somewhat limited return, but still desirable and helps a neighbor.
Happy Hour in town later
Prayers for all
Be safe
Have a great day
