Have you made it out to the boat much?

Well....since I gave my small boat to my brother to use at the top of Lake Huron,
I am boatless. Worse, I'm looking at boats on Yachtworld I shouldn't be...

worked outside for the last three hours, planting and weedeating. Keeping an eye on the Davey tree
folks who are slowly but steadily working their way down the powerlines. They are told by the city of Washington
to clear the lines back fifteen feet from the wires, but understand my desire to also block the site of my neighbor's falling down greenhouses. So they've been doing a nice job, cleaning up after themselves, a good crew. Last week the local utility trimmed one tree by my barn and I guess felt the whole place needed doing, but they farm out larger jobs like this. Quite a long power line run, and they maintain it right up to the barn.

I took a pic of the tree guys working and it won't load, too big a pic, 8 meg. Anyone know how to shrink a .jpg to fit?

That life expectancy calculator isn't as hopeful as the one we did a few months back. Having been born in the same year as DABSGT, it still gives me over 20 years to go. Doesn't matter if time shows that to be too optimistic, for now I can quote it to my wife to justify putting off for a year or two a few more low priority jobs, without feeling so bad about it.:)

Perhaps the figure wouldn't come out so high if the calculator knew I am driving around in a Honda that has a potential collision causing anti-collision system. ;)

Not heard of "earnest" money before Drew, but it sounds as though you have everything going to plan. Excellent.

I got a little plumbing job done today, and made a list of other things I need. Somehow, I finished one job, and found several more? Kinda lopsided, but I guess that's life.

Be safe out there!

So my buddy lives smack dab in the middle of Austin was telling me he wants to get out of the rat race traffic clogged up all the time..

I told him my FIL might sell his 72 acres with paved road frontage for about $5000/acre. He said "THATS $350,000 DOLLARS!!! NO WAY..."

So I looked up his property value because he said property taxes were killing him.

The value of his .2837 acre???

$396,000 cough, gasp, puke, flabergasted.....OUCH That is just for the lot, not the home. His property taxes are over $17000 per year..

I'm going to call him and ask him what he wants to do with the remaining 71.7 something acres....

Our son is off work this week and is now staying with us for a few days. Dog thinks this is fantastic, they were both messing around out in the garden last night until it went dark. This morning dog was even reluctant to go around the sheep, he'd prefer to stay at home ready for when his playmate gets out of bed.

On Saturday we have a party for Ben, our grandson, who is coming up to 5 years old. For the last couple of months my wife has been mowing a winding tracking in the field outside for the kids to chase around. Fingers crossed that the weather will stay fine enough to allow everyone to get outside.

Many of the children coming live in a city, so for them this is a rare chance to play in the countryside. By special request of my daughter, I have kept back 80 tons of top soil for the garden as a 6 feet high ridge of dirt for them to scramble over. A "Dirt mountain" has been a favourite in previous years, with parents bringing a change of clothing for their children, so they can all go home tired but relatively clean.

63 heading to 87 and sunny.

Eric, that sounds like a blast for the kids. There was a dirt mound in the field behind my house growing up and I still remember playing "army" on it many times with friends, as well as building little cities on it to play with our little cars and trucks - maybe that's why I like digging in dirt today with the tractor.

Drew, that is quite a high cherry picker.

Got about 3 hours bush hogging done yesterday. Nice weather for it.

Taking Myla to her first doctor appointment since her surgery today. Hoping all checks out okay.

Have a great Friday!

Poured first cup of coffee. 65° with rain this morning. Heading to 85° with rain and thunderstorms all day. Maybe I should have replaced wiper blade that is coming apart on car yesterday. Looks like I get another chance at cleaning up shop.
Drew, another way to resize pictures is Picasa. After picking the picture. Choose EXPORT at bottom of page. A window will pop up. Select where you want picture stored. Then select size you want.
Eric, there was a large tree stump on it's side in front of our house when I was a kid. Dirt, roots and height. Best place for brothers, sister and I to play and get dirty. Fond memory's of playing king of the hill.
Good Morning All.

72 and 89 chance of late rain. Have a little job to do then take my wife to the Dr. She has decided that she needs a truck instead of fuel economy. LOL She wants to be able to pull a horse trailer. Why do I see more 4 legs and fur coming into my life?

Hey Drew, you know a picture from the bucket of that cherry picker would have been impressive, did you ask if you could go up? I remember taking inspectors up a swing stage on a 29 story building, most never made it past the 8th floor.

Farmer, glad to hear they are hauling now, how soon will the new birds be in?

Eric, When I had a bulldozer knock down all the trees in the back pasture, I had them push enough dirt in the back making a berm you could hide a dump truck behind. But I use it as a backstop for shooting. I am sure there is to much lead in that to let anyone play on it. The goats like to climb it.

Hope everyone has a Good Weekend planned
