79F and mostly cloudy @ 12:30, HI 79F, HU 54%, DP 61F, AQI 48. Heading up to around 86F for the actual high temp.

Good chances for scattered thunderstorms tomorrow. We really need it ... starting to get dry again. Local weather guesser said on news last night Akron still about 2.5" below normal.

Got Cub out of barn first thing yesterday.

Juvenile possum snoozing in live trap, went back over later and let it go.

Mealworm feeder empty again, refilled it with around 24 mealworms ... now out of mealworms so trip down to Eddies in the near future.

Got stink juice sprayer cleaned out, all it took was emptying it out and running a little hot water through it ... (y)

Mixed up another 2 gallons of glyphosate in the new 2 gal HF sprayer. Also stretched out shutoff valve spring so it hopefully won't drip in the future.

After that I worked on clearing all the junk off the Unisaw. Didn't get that completed but made good progress, seeing the light at the end of the tunnel.

Mowed east side, back, and part of west side down here around the house. Think I'll leave it there for the moment, as what's left is pretty dry.

Got some more spraying done with the vinegar on garden areas.

Got another 3 lengths of weed block fabric cut with the hot knife and got it folded up and put in the dump cart.

2 more bags of mulch put down on west planting bed.

No luck finding spool of monofilament ... or the main device for networking over power lines ... will probably have to run down to Fisherman's Central and pick up another spool of line ... at which point the old spool will magically turn up ... :(

Woman out back trying to do more spraying if wind will cooperate.

Should have decent cloud cover until around 15:00 or so, so will trying and get some stuff done that I'd rather not do in the sun.

Hope everyone has a decent rest of their Friday ... (y)

Came back in starting to rain a little. Worked on the Stihl trimmer and pole saw and got them started. Ran for a while and emptied the tanks and ran the carbs dry. It is the FS130 string trimmer and the HT131 pole saw. The pole saw has worked really good and using it with the backpack harness it easy to use without much effort.
I am still in the market for a cordless trimmer and it can be lighter like the Makita that Popg use so that is the one I will get. The Stihl trimmer is good for the heavy stuff.
Also started to gather up fence supplies to repair the fence over at the neighbor. Found wire, crimp fittings, etc and tools.

Good Evening riptides,
Well seeing those x-rays opened up a floodgate of memories for me ! Something I usually dont talk about because of everything I went through when I was younger !

In 1966 getting ready to go into high school I was diagnosed with scoliosis ! To this day some of those memories haunt me. I went through an extensive surgical procedure at the time, hours of surgery where my back was opened up and then had a Harrington Rod installed onto my spine. I so distinctly remember the intense pain for many days. Your daughter and your family have gone through so much at this point, that only others that have endured the same can truly relate!

I was determined that I was going to make it through this nightmare and this was not going to be a defining moment in my life that I was not going to recover fully from ! There were many people that told me that I was not going to be able to this or that, and I was determined to prove them dead wrong ! Well as I am closing in on 72 I can tell you that I led a full and productive life ! My wife Kathleen and I raised two boys, put them through college, they are now both married and we now have 4 beautiful grand children !

Just a little about me, I have always been an outdoor person, and while I served an apprenticeship and ultimately became a Master Modelmaker, and made a very good living from it, my heart was always outside ! To this day, I love being out on the back side of my barn splitting wood on a nice fall day ! To this day I still love physical work, and even though I have back pain, I deal with it the best I can. I refuse to sit inside and look out the window !

Looking at those x-rays, makes me wish that I had the medical know how of today back in 1966 !

I do have some misgivings, in that I could not go into the Navy as my father before me had,he served in WW2, and I of course wanted to be like my Pop ! That was of course the Vietnam Era, and Im guessing my mother was relieved when I was rejected at the Induction Center.

I wish your daughter my prayers and encouragement, and that she will persevere , and have a full and productive life !

Have a good evening !
You have done well. Nice to look back on those achievements and overcome handicap and raising family and now having 4 grandkids.
Model making was interesting to me when visiting the foundry shops. Takes a lot of skill to do it right.

Good Evening M7040,
I think you are thinking of moldmakers ! I was a modelmaker for Pitney Bowes, I machined and built office mailing equipment prototypes. Although when I served my apprtenticeship I did spend time in the foundry, only about 4 weeks or so, but very interesting !

The Makita is surprisingly strong and goes a long way in a charge, but I do have a solid shaft Honda trimmer with a ohv 4 stroke motor for when I need a brute. Haven’t run it in a couple years though. I’m glad I keep it full of AvGas so it will run if I pull it out.

I don't have access to AvGas but use free of ethanol gas. Maybe it can sit for a long time without gumming up the carb. Not sure so I drained the gas. The Stihl trimmer is pretty powerful with a 36 cubic inch engine. I have 4 batteries from the Makita chain saw so dont think I need more batteries. Is this the unit you have?

108˚F today but slowly going down now just 102˚. Just got texted and voicemail from the town. The town has entered phase 3 of water restrictions. No irrigation or sprinklers in the yard. However if you read the small print you can still hand water, just not between the hours of 7AM and 7PM.

News on the "Good Knee" - can get injections till they are no longer are effective or get on the list for a knee replacement. I'm on the 4 month waiting list. Seems like they never caught up after Covid. Maybe I can get Egore for PT again.
New names will be surgical knee 1 and surgical knee 2. During the pre-op apt. I'll get to meet the robot preforming the surgery.
