When I went out to take the sunset pic last night at 8:42 it was getting dark. Saw something move in the garden. Went to check it out. Was my wife weeding the beans.
At least it wasn’t a deer eating them.

I grabbed a hoe and took care of some of the crab grass growing. It comes up fast. Then sprayed corn and beans with sevin. Was really dark by then, but also sprayed some weed juice in the drive and under the fence.

Going to movie today, and have a church meeting tonight.

Good Morning!!!! 75F @ 6:45AM. Mainly sunny. Hot. High near 105F. Winds light and variable.

Those X-rays made my head spin, Mike. Sharing thoughts for a positive outcome for your daughter.

All this talk of dementia brings back memories, not fond ones, of previous elder care experiences. My heart goes out to those facing trying times.

I did end up making an offer, at asking price, for the home I've been eyeing. The seller's agent responded with incomplete details of the solar power system installed on it. Like the system only has 3.6kW of panels, there's a loan balance of $41K which I'm sure they'd like me to assume, and they're now paying nearly twice the rate for grid power after they installed the solar power system. I was aware of that last fact, as PG&E did the same to me when my system was commissioned. But I need more info, like the rate on the loan and at least a year's worth of electricity consumption data, and ideally data from before the system was installed, too, before I respond. But my initial reaction is to reject assuming the loan, as the asking price is at the absolute top of the market for the home and what my budget would allow for the purchase. The house did show well during yesterday's zoom call, but the condition isn't in line with the asking price. For example, one of the bathroom countertops was stone but it had been refinished in stone look alike paint. The kitchen cabinets had all been painted, a very cheap way of refinishing old, tired '80s era wood. That in itself wouldn't be too bad, but the upper cabinets are white, and the lower cabinets are a bluish dark gray that looks odd and robs light from the kitchen. The vinyl tile flooring in the bonus room was wrinkly and not well adhered along the outside wall. The front porch and half bath floors had also been paiinted, and will be maintenance headaches at some point. The solar power system news came as a text message last night just as I was dropping off to sleep, and I made the mistake of reading it after I answered Nature's call at 3:00 his morning. Would have been nice to get a few more hours of shut eye, but really not feeling it just now, and I've been up ever since. Nothing's ever straight forward, is it?

I got about an hour of weed spraying in yesterday morning before the side-by-side overheated again; it seems the cooling system has another slow leak. It was getting pretty hot outside by then, and I had to get going on town errands anyway. Stopped at the junk yard and dumped off all the left over roofing steel. Got a penny a pound for all 290 pounds of it. And they wouldn't take the left over lumber, which I may just decide to keep. Never know when 48' of painted 2x6 and 24' of painted 6x6 will come in handy. Rest of trip was uneventful, but did get more experience parking that big van; takes some getting used to. No new dents yet, but that right rear tire has been over a few too many curbs.🤭

TGIF gang!

Burn pile needs to happen too. With it popping into the 90's everyday, things dry up pretty fast. Showers and storms are possible for today.
One trick the old timers taught me here is to put a tarp over part of the burn pile, then after or even during a good rain, pull it off and light the pile. The rain will ensure none of the embers coming off the fire catch anything else on fire.

Costco delivers the new Sony TV today. Most important job is to verify it will mount in current location or adjust the mount plate before it arrives. Bigger TV (85 vs 58) and it must fit under the main beam. Here’s the old one

Also need to tidy up my electronics cabinet.

We host Hand & Foot this afternoon.

Prayers for all, and a bit extra for the caregivers
Be safe
Have a great day
