More rain in the forecast for the next several days. I think that taking it easy and be mostly indoors will be the plan.
The new raised seam roof on the log cabin is earning its keep and will protect the 225 year old cabin for many years to come beyond my lifetime.
The county researched the history of the farm and it is an interesting read going back to the first German immigrant that established a 200 acres farmstead.
Traded the old Unimog military truck for the roofing work.View attachment 761248
One of the interesting features of the cabin is that a spring originates in the basement and runs out the other end and flows year round. Legend has it that it was used during Indian attacks around 1800 time frame

Drew,

Spam is a delicacy here. I had an old friend that collected Spam cans. I never knew there were so many varieties. He decorated his cube with them. He was one of our go to people for analysis of messaging traffic. Hence the Spam connection.

Love old homesteads and farms.

I had a spring in my crawl space.

It was an undiscovered pipe left live during the renovations. Cost me 10k in water proofing I did not need because the plumbers missed the pipe at the well head. The water proofers found it 3/4's of the way through the job. LOL.

7 of our adopted kids are caucasians and the two youngest are African Americans. Our grand daughter to our youngest just got her first job at 15 and she got her first paycheck and asking about setting up a bank account. We are very proud of her and close since she spent part her younger years with us growing up. The attached is her enjoying life with us.

Drew, Spam definitely a Hawaiian delight. I suspect the Spam display is one of the larger in most any food store here, often stacked by the case. Spam Musubi, local stable.

Sodamo, one of our kids love the big island and was back there twice on hiking and biking trips. She fell down a slope on one of the biking trips but survived. She still talks about how great an outdoor experience it was

clearly states battery replaceable, a must have. Current one says no from factory, yes from tinkerers.
Thanks for the heads up on the UPS battery, even if it was by accident. I just checked my owner's manual out and my UPS is still under a extended warranty for another year. Also the manual gives detailed instructions on how to change out the easily obtainable double battery. The replacement battery on mine and your new one will cost us the same $80+, and both available from Amazon. I am surprised they both still use lead acid batteries instead of lithium. OH! I just looked it up the reason is COST!

It rained on and off all night and most of today. There is about 3 inches in the rain gauge. Maybe this will green up the lawn.

I don't know what it means but the people at the drug store are wearing masks again.

I'm home alone this week since this is girls week at the beach. About the only trouble I can think of to get into is checking craigslist for interesting stuff.

Pretty darned quiet around here.

Chris

So, in my prudent fashion, looked up the parts diagram…. They will be picked up this afternoon. One will be a backup.
Now if the old one lasts for a few more years....

My guess is that it will. This is my mother’s mixer from the 70’s that my daughter inherited. She thought it prudent to disassemble it to clean it and replace the grease. She did it in my shop, but she did it all. It’s not bad for a 50 year old appliance.
