Good morning!!!!

Good (Wednesday) morning. Overnight Low, reportedly, of 1.6C. It's now overcast and calm, calling for very light showers tonight... steady rain showers for the next couple of days but, of course, the Guessers keep adjusting the amount as time goes by. It's presently 13.5C, heading to 15C.

It's 'head into town' day for groceries.

That's about it, take care all.

Happy birthdays to Mostly's step daughter and Ken's son!

More rain in the forecast for the next several days. I think that taking it easy and be mostly indoors will be the plan.
The new raised seam roof on the log cabin is earning its keep and will protect the 225 year old cabin for many years to come beyond my lifetime.
The county researched the history of the farm and it is an interesting read going back to the first German immigrant that established a 200 acres farmstead.
Traded the old Unimog military truck for the roofing work.View attachment 761248
Always wanted to go 4 wheeling with a unimog...love the re-use of the airport baggage trailers for firewood. Stacks nicely and keeps it off the ground. 1/4 of your pile would probably "do" us for the winter...unless we get another Feb super ice storm.

Beautiful kid getting a pull in the snow. Great photo. That smile. I always told my kids when they were missing a front tooth, that they had a place to put their straw for their drink.

Michael Berry and wifey adopted 2 children from Ethiopia. He talks about them often, and the opportunities they get in their situation. He also expects a lot from them and teaches them right from wrong.

Incidentally, I turned out the light at 9.00 p.m. and woke at 12.00. Not sure why. It is usually shoulder pain / numbness but not this time. Needle has certainly worked some. Now nearly 2.00 a.m. and have been surfing for the last couple of hours. Think I will get up and have a bite to eat. Have a great day / night all.
Hope you can get some rest and it gets to feeling better. So you're at 2am there and it's 11am here central time. 9 hours ahead of us. Can you give me the baseball scores a half day ahead? I need to make some side money.

I surely have not spent the last hour doing what I wanted to.
Good news, rain stopped at about two inches
bad news is I had unplugged the sump pump in plugging in the hot tub and well, the results are as expected...
inch of water over entire basement, thank goodness everything is up on pallets or shelves. So an hour with shop vac, again..., and now the fan is blowing and everything plugged into
proper receptacle.
never ever ever going to unplug that sump pump again.
repeat
Maybe that's the good Lord telling you not to put anything but outdoor carpet in the basement....and buy a bigger wet vac?

Today was busy busy busy. Like Monday on Tuesday.

Daughter is taking ASVAB test tomorrow. You get a raw score in each category, then they use some math to figure out were you stand against everyone else taking it for the last year or few. If you get a 50%, theoretically you're average. I told her my score and that I had taken it after finishing junior college, and after having worked on my own vehicles and at the Yamaha shop. I took it at age 25, so I had plenty of life experience to help. I did quite well back then.....I wonder how I would do today.

One thing I've learned over the years is this. When it comes to math, use it or lose it. I couldn't do calculus to save my life anymore, because I haven't done it in about 37 years. Same with foreign language. I knew a guy who grew up in Germany, at age 22 he moved to America. At 45, he told me he had to practice German for a few days before he called his mother.

Rip, that was the "mothership" of hornets' nests. WOW! This milk barn is quite a big project.

LittlebittybigJohn (LBBJ), use that snapper to pull out the tractor!

They have a spam festival in Austin.... mostly weirdos. Can't remember if it happens before or after Eeyore's birthday party.

Prayers for our team, our country, Ukraine, and for Putin to come to his senses.

My guess is that it will. This is my mother’s mixer from the 70’s that my daughter inherited. She thought it prudent to disassemble it to clean it and replace the grease. She did it in my shop, but she did it all. It’s not bad for a 50 year old appliance.

Yep, familiar looking picture.....
Ours is all fixed and running. I now have a spare gear if and when it goes out again. I f it goes out a third time, well, then it will get replaced.

The worst thing about all this is the wifey gave her 'old' one to our neighbor. It was her mother's, probably about 45 years old.... worked great! She wanted the slightly smaller and lighter one.... guess that wasn't a good decision.

Looks like I may soon be a WV land owner, again.
The agent got a verbal agreement from the seller that he would remove the mystery tank and take $5k under asking. (2 agents said it was a water tank, this whole area used to be a big orchard) I also offered $13k under and the tank stays. Now I think I went too high.
Agent sent me a land contract to sign, I just sent back some questions.
I’m not requiring a perc test as I believe it will perc ok based on houses on much smaller lots nearby. I did call well driller for estimate but missed his callback.
I keep going thru the “what if” scenarios though, if it doesn’t perc, can’t get water.
Haven’t priced getting electric in. It’s about 2 poles away either from behind or in front. It passed thru pasture below.

There is technically an HOA, but not in reality.
The first lot doesn’t follow them, with junk cars sitting around. I wonder about who does road maintenance. The road is in good shape.

With the road wrapping around this lot, only 2 direct bordering neighbors, the pasture not part of this development and 1 lot beside me (also for sale by same seller).

Good evening all. 67ºF for the start, mostly clear, and near calm breeze. Light wind day, more building Q developed, and high temp was 92ºF, HI 95ºF. Bike ride to start day, made good time (17 mph average for 20 miles) due to lower humidity and light wind. Came in to cool off and recover and rehydrate, then out to mow back, missed the wind. Lunch then nap, and to town for dinner and groceries. Also pumped up Peugeot back tire to 80psi to check for leaks.
Doug not sure if I could watch the screen while needle going in.

They reckon we're going to have a wet summer so I went into the local town and bought a sump pump that gets rid of the excess rainwater along the front of the house. I put a sump in years ago but the original pump died several years ago and we hadn't had enough rain till recently to make a new pump worthwhile. I had pulled out the old discharge hose and power cord so I need to re-do those. Pump has a 2 year warranty so if I had replaced it back then I would have had no warranty left when the rains came again.
So I have the pump to fit, 2 x solar skylights, 2 x security lights, some window architraves and 2 door frame architraves and a inside wall to sheet with drywall and LOTs of painting. Wife wants me to clad the outside of the house now as well. Just as well I am a spring chicken... Oh, I also have lots of irrigation pipes to run around the garden as well. Been too cold lately for working but warming up fast. Hopefully it will get too hot to work? :)
