57° right now...high in the upper 70's...

Woke up around 0230-0300...had a heck of a time getting back to sleep (around 0500-0530). Posting late today and still a bit woozy from interrupted sleep. Probably back to bed for a while and do the weed trimming in the afternoon...chipping too

Interesting article, nice video

Any of you guys watch NB88 on YouTube?

It's either 69F or 77F and sunny @ 09:30, depending on who you want to believe. I think I'll go with 69F, which is the reporting station at CAK ... as opposed to "Bob's Weather", a local PWS just down the road via WU.

At any rate, both of them seem to be close on the forecasted high temp for the day: 85F or 87F.

Woman was up repeatedly last night, first couldn't sleep and then cat woke her up. She was pizzed ... :(

Up way too early after going to bed at around 03:30 myself ...

Did manage to get around half the EarliGlo Strawberries potted before I went to bed last night.

Also got the WB filled yesterday after replacing the hose.

Agenda for today:

Move plants out of the garage.

Refill one suet feeder.

Deploy chipmunk traps. Haven't been seeing many lately but they are still around.

Get oil stain applied to cedar board I bought a year ago for a shelf on the aquarium planter stand. That will be used on the top, which will raise the pots and allow for a second level below.

Spray rest of expanded garden area with glyphosate. Will have to wait a bit on that as it's still in shade and there's likely dew on the grass.

Make the rounds with the Water Buffalo, water new plantings up at the shop, peach trees.

Further clean up on back patio area. There's at least one pallet back there and some junk wood that needs hauled out to make some room and declutter the area.

Once that's done, I'll load up the asparagus, strawberry and rhubarb plants which are in the garage and get them moved around back. Don't think they will be bothered by the critters if they are up next to the house. Might be a few more squash plants that can be moved around back as well.

Run up and get another dump cart load of screened compost and make up some more potting soil to fill the tote. Any leftover can be taken around back and used to raise the end of the flower bed where the last three summer squash plants will go. Maybe get those planted.

The summer squash bed needs cultivated and soil added to it, so there might a second trip up to get more screened compost.

Woman noticed and commented about how all the summer squash that had been planted had really greened up. I think I'll mix up some MiracleGro and water/feed the winter squash and pumpkin plants, which are looking pretty yellow at this point.

Finish up that second large cage for another tomato plant and get one planted.

Finish mowing down here around the house.

I think I'm tired already ... ;)

Hope everyone has a great Sunday ... (y)

Kyle,

That critter was a groundhog.

Interestingly, shortly before I took that picture he was grazing on the other side of the road.

I pulled out my Ruger LCP and took a shot at him from around 25' or 30' and missed, at which point he ran back into a culvert below the driveway going up to the gas well.

Wasn't long after that he came back out and came across the road (closer to me) and continued grazing on the way back to his den which is under a woodpile over by the shop.

It's almost like if you're on a piece of equipment they don't even see you.

Good luck with all you have going on at work, sounds like you have a plate full ... (y)

67°F and .76 inches rain

Scag culprit may have been a bad wire connection to starter. Time will tell.

Got a bit of mowing, 3 of the interior sections done. If it dries enough could finish rest of interior. The interior refers to about 6 acres in middle of the property surrounding the house, cross fenced to keep the dogs in and the pigs out. What might be considered our lawn area but in reality is just former pasture that has been mowed over and over since 2005 but would readily revert to pasture if neglected.

Prayers for all
Be safe
Have a great day

Good afternoon! 101˚F at 11:45 A.M. Today is suppose to be the hottest day so far this year heading to 108˚ and above.
The Chicago neighbor said at least you don't have to shovel hot.
We actually had a cool down this morning. It was pleasant walking the pooch. Comfy and a nice breeze.

We hit 110° Friday in Central Arkansas. It felt like you walked into a steamer if your were out on the asphalt.

Yesterday morning I was soaked through with sweat on a 1/2 mile walk with the pooch at 7am. It was already mid 90's. About sunset last night the wind picked up bringing in cooler air from the east.

not that hot here thankfully.
took hours to get done but got the whole graveyard videotaped, for some future use.
High end Mavica drone, very cool to watch.

now I think I want to do absolutely nothing.

we have an $8,500 estimate to take down that ancient dying tree in the second pic. Gulp.

Saturday night was our coldest night so far. 5 deg C. But a beautiful day followed as was yesterday. In fact it was quite hot out in the sun. Lovely Winter now the rain and wind have stopped.
I removed some electric fence star pickets and wound up all the wire and scrapped it. I used the posts to mark some hidden stumps in the paddocks. Don't want to hit another one after it cost me the best part of $2,000 last time when I damaged the Flail mower.
After that I finished placing rocks around a garden bed that I have been putting off for too long. Then got some buckets of dirt to fill in around the barn so I can grass it. I then drove the tractor around the paddocks picking up fallen sticks to make it easier next mowing session.
I almost bogged the tractor when I was getting buckets of dirt. (well I did bog the tractor) With a bit of bucket pushing and 4x4 drive I managed to drive forward and then turn out of the soft patch. Thankfully didn't need to call my mate again. Had to go to another area of the farm to find good dirt.
Well it's Monday morning already. Hope you all have a great week.
