Highest I ever jumped, was when a rattle snake objected to me hiking down it’s trail.

The TBN app just closed on me while reading this thread.

Good morning to all! Low was 52°, reaching to hit 78° today. Greater chances of T-storms. The lows are forecasted to be in the low 50's all week. The high for tomorrow is only supposed to be 67°. I can't complain....

It sprinkled off and on almost all day yesterday, just enough to keep any outside activity from happening. I was kind of disappointed, couple of big rain dumping storms went close by, but never got any downpours...... Until last night.
Just as we got in bed, a few close lightning strikes, power went off, and it poured for a while. And in 20 - 30 minutes, it was over. Power back on. Over a 1/2" of rain in the gauge this morning. Just under an inch since Friday.

I think I can now see a light green tinge out in the fields. That will be nice!

Randy (Toppop), hope you are continuing to get better. Maybe I missed it... did you get home yet?

RNG, nice to hear you had a good ride. Wow, go from sunny and warm to overcast and snow.... had to mess with your internal thermostat for sure!
Shame that not too many showed up. Maybe a "do-over"?

Nice to hear about some good Father's Day get togethers. I enjoyed my time with the son and grandsons.... and the resultant quiet thereafter....

A trip into town is on the agenda for today. Taking the wifey to Hobby Lobby, she wants to pick up a bunch of supplies. Then over to Costco. Then maybe HD. And a stop at the PO to drop off a package. I will be worn out by then...

Everyone have a great day!

wasn't me!

had to make second trip down to hardware store for trailer tie down hardware when I realized
a two inch galvanized bolt was just not long enough. Yes I could get it threaded but wanted to use a flat washer
and a stainless nut, all secured by Loctite Red. Nothing below to worry about so decided to err on side of caution and went up a full inch to 3 inches. Square bottom carriage bolts with round top fit into square opening of tie down bracket nicely. So I won't need to have a 20 foot arm to do this. Eight bolts, not one will slip, right? I'm going to put them on tight, not wood fiber breaking tight, since with Loctite, well it really shouldn't go anywhere. But it is out of sight out of mind under the trailer so I'm using belt and suspenders, lock washers and locktite.
Measure twice, drill once

One spot available where I can drill down through both the wood and the frame.
That's the spot I want for these tie downs. Better get the big drill, drilling through steel

engineering question please
if my tie down bracket has a single bolt hole on each end, holding down a steel loop in the middle, so all pressure is against middle of tie down. I think.
Which way is the bracket stronger, end wise? Assuming the metal doesn't bend, and you have two 3/8 bolts holding down each tie down, is one direction stronger?
Just curious, these are hand tightened straps with ratchets, not trucker tie downs run by cordless drills. Now those guys get tight, really tight.

I have six straps and four floor tie downs. Any rigging suggestions? I also have external strap points. 1000 pound golf cart on one ton trailer.
I bet Bill would be good at this. I know how to tie down a boat. Probably some similarities there...just a lot tighter. I bet Buppies knows, expensive machinery hauled around.

I'm hoping to get both bolts through metal on both top and bottom with wood in the middle. Good sandwich job.

Four tie down points make sure straps are strong enough ie 2000 pound straps. Tie down all four corners over kill for 1000 pounds but safer. Tie downs on our trailer are welded hoops 6 total

70F and cloudy @ 12:00, heading up to a high of around 77F. Calling for on and off rain showers this afternoon. That originally was supposed to be this morning and then clearing in the afternoon but it looks like that didn't/won't happen.

Also calling for a high of 95F tomorrow ...

Woman has been out weeding the flower bed this morning. She just made the run down to Mickey D's for a little breakfast and is currently doing some dishes.

Suspect we'll get the aquarium planter stand moved out and set up in front of the kitchen window today. Woman may get some of the square pots for it planted.

Hopper feeder needs refilled, also two suet feeders.

Beyond that I'm thinking that might get the Water Buffalo filled and make the rounds and give the rhododendrons - which are actually looking very good - a feeding.

Perhaps the Yarrow and Salvia up in front of the shop and the stuff out at the corner of the second "circle" as well.

These Stella D'Oro's - which are the ones I didn't get around to splitting last year (or the year before ?) - seem to be doing well:

I'd like to get those split up this year and planted along the eastern perimeter of the yard, similar to what we did with that east planting bed. But not likely to happen until I get the Kubota back in service.

And lots of other stuff that needs to be done to get in the way as well.

Front lawn after I finished mowing yesterday:

Hoping for a speedy recovery for Buppies' Woman and a good report from toppop.

Rest of you all have a great Monday.
