Good morning all, and Happy Easter! Had a little Easter egg hunt this morning, which is always fun. Chocolate Easter eggs!

Daughter hid them, and she gets absolutely hysterical watching us find them and coming close.

Went down below freezing last night, and Abe froze over with a thin sheet of ice. This week is going to be kind of miserable up here, with a combination of snow in the rain, but we are heading back into town so no worries.

Got two or three days of leftover turkey ahead of us, which I really enjoy. I especially enjoy chewing on the carcass for a snack. Church coming up in a few minutes – on zoom.

Got a couple of new red plastic Muskoka style deck chairs from Costco delivered on Thursday. (You maybe call them Adirondack.) Will probably put them together today. Man, are they ever heavy!

Have a great day everyone, and enjoy your turkey/ham/whatever tonight!

WU says 37F and cloudy here right now @ 10:00 ... but it looks pretty sunny to me ... (y)

As Rich says we are expecting a high of 48F for the day. A low of 31.1F was recorded here overnight at the local WX station.

Got the first package of bare root strawberries potted last night, only 50 more to go. It was a bit of a disappointment, as there are supposed to 10 in a package and there were only 9.

The quality control on the pots from Menards that I'm using leaves a little something to be desired: it appears they are sloppily made, with an inconsistent height on the top lip of the pot. I understand that they are a cheap product but it would be nice if a pot that is supposed to be 6" deep actually was ... rather 5" on side and 6" on the other.

Saw Momma Mallard land in the frog pond out back for the first time this year a few minutes ago.

Have also seen an Eastern Phoebe around as well.

I brought most of the plants that were out front into the garage last night before I hit the rack. Will probably leave them there for the next few days.

Today's agenda will include getting the rest of the strawberries potted and then move on to the asparagus.

Noticed last night that one of the tomato seeds I planted in the starter trays had popped through the soil and another one was trying to. Got all the veggie seeds moved into the plastic trays with covers, also the coleus that I planted back on December 21st. Will be interesting to see how much of an improvement the covered trays are. At around $3.50 for a tray and lid, they seemed like a reasonable investment ... particularly if they keep the seed pots from drying out so easily. I still have one tray/lid combo still left and some other plant items to move into it.

Hope everyone has a Joyous Easter !

Stepson and partner staying for Easter and doing his carpentry work while he is here. I didn't think it possible but he removed a wall partition and single door and another window and fitted 2 ranchslider glass doors in their place all in 8 hours. Great worker. His partner helped fetch and carry the heavy stuff and I helped do what I could so it was a very successful day. I was up at 3.00 a.m. in the morning and after we finished the doors we played pool until 1. 30 a.m. so it was a very long day. 1.50 a.m. now and I am still wide awake but about to pull the switch. Good night.

Morning all, 50, going down to 33 tonight.

Happy Easter, happy passover!
Got a lot done on the planting area. Of course wife came out and told me she wanted one of the trees farther back. So shovel the dirt over....

BH used to make two big holes for trees and ready to plant that area.

Other area for Willow looks about ready, one dead ash somewhat near, in bad enough shape that the bark is loose! Think this one will be by rope only and hope it comes over. Too many dead branches...

Helogabals - When my parents went to Pisa, they took film. The processor thought my parents were tilted and straightened the tower for them on the photo. We the picture up on the wall for years as a joke.

Alien - failed HD is painful - can you call/email companies to get your SW back?

Making a spatchcocked chicken for easter dinner. With stuffing under the skin.

Glad I didn't start planting yet, still a few freezes left in the weather.

Stay safe and be well, and hope you all have a great Easter.

Happy Easter

66°F and 1.85 inches rain.

Easter Dinner this afternoon at friends. Only 5 total, so a quiet affair. We are contributing Ham.

Otherwise an energy conservation day given the weather

Prayers for all
Be safe
Have a great day

I went back and looked at those eggs again, but it was the bread that caught my eye.
My grandfather's family came from Brody Ukraine, West of the current fighting, and every breakfast and dinner there was a small plate with a pile
of white bread on it. We would normally toast it here, but I think there is something Eastern European about eating
plain bread with meals. Perhaps Irish also? That's why it's so fun to have folks here from "abroad", we learn new things. Like Australian critters.

very healthy breakfast actually, not many folks eat vegetables for breakfast. We all should. Usually it's carbs and fat.
Had a vegan burger last night, it was on sale for two bucks a burger. It was very good, cooked in a covered pan, but of course you have to load seasoning on it.
If I had a tomato, I'd put a big slice of that on the patty. Can't wait to start growing my own, bringing them in right off the vine.

Now I need a healthier bun than the store brand diet buns, 80 calories.
Those eggs we bought at local supermarket. Nothing fancy, but great looking and tasteful. In general (almost) all food in Italy is A+ grade. They are crazy for that

Our old folks are eating a lot of bread. Even though diet doctors don't recommend it. In my part of EU (North) there is a thing - rye bread. It is almost black. Do you know that ? It is considered as more healthy than wheat products

I haven't (yet) visited US, but our people who have been, especially old farts are complaining about your bread. To be frank American steaks (actually all kind of meat) they found great. But your bread and all flour products have a lot of room for improvement.

Ken, you are beating down Upper Makefield there. But leave it alone for ten years and mother nature would reclaim it.
You live in deep woods and have lots of tree work to do. If you need a fairly useless spotter who can't lift much, call me...
Working with larger trees without a buddy, someone to get help, can be an issue, was for me working on the farm all alone.

One reason I always used big jack stands while holding up equipment with the FEL. I've never had a hydraulic circuit fail on me in my life but
I sure have read enough about them. Belt and suspenders. Dropping even moderately sized trees all by yourself can be scary if the trunk kicks back or
goes totally not the way you thought it would. Like when it hooks in a crotch going down and flips around on you.

on most interior attacks firemen only go in using a buddy system. They do that due to a dangerous situation.
dropping a big tree on a steep slope might equally qualify.

have to really bend way over to thin the radishes, kneeling on the kneeler with my head stuck in between the electric tapes.
I'm very careful to make sure I turn it off... it's got a bite to it.
well, not going to get done by itself. Talking to them and telling them to spread out by themselves just didn't work.

When we lived in Heidelberg we belonged to the ski club and skiing meant lots of traveling Germany, France, Austria, Switzerland, Italy. Breakfast was always a highlight of the trip.
