Good Morning!!!! 45F @ 5:00AM. Partly cloudy skies this morning will become overcast during the afternoon. High 69F. Winds SSE at 10 to 20 mph.
Looks like rain will start again tonight, continuing on and off through Friday. Yet in all that time, only an inch will accumulate. I'd gladly send it all to New Mexico and Texas if I could.
I managed to get one burn pile fired off yesterday, but it was slow going. It seems the tarp that was covering part of it half way blew off, and the rest of it was pretty soggy after two inches of rain. After most of an hour, only part of it was smoldering. A while back I asked the dozer operator where he recycles his used oil, and he said he uses it on his burn piles. I had a few gallons of Kubota's super expensive Super UDT2 left from the last oil change on the tractor, so dumped it on and things immediately improved. At twenty-five bux a gallon, I was happy to get a bit more use out of it.
Once the pile burned down, I started limbing the downed trees from another pile, and kept the fire going for the rest of the day. I put a dent in that other pile, but not much of one, so I'll keep at it today. I was using the little electric Makita chainsaw, and toward the end of the day the chain tension was jumping all over the place again. I'm guessing that the sprocket is worn out again, this time after only three battery changes.
Hope everyone's week gets off to a smooth start...
