Morning folks. My driveway base for snowblowing has turned to three inches of slush. Cringed while driving the whole way down it. Warm day with rain instead of snow here. The snow should return tomorrow though.
Thanks for the reminder. It is raining cats and dogs here. normally I go to the dump on Fridays, but I am not going to mess up my driveway which is smooth right now. It is going down to 18°F tonight and not going back up above freezing for at least 6 days.

56F and cloudy @ 11:00, calling for a high of 59F for the day. A few showers this morning followed by an overcast afternoon. Then back into the freezer in the coming days.

Will log another trip around the sun into the books today.

Got a bunch of short pieces of 3/4 copper cleaned up yesterday that I will use piece in the lines the laundry room.

Between that and the tempering valve for the water heater I should be able to use up most of those.

Also got the studs trimmed out to pass the supply lines through and a drop piece of 2 x 4 put up to make that one stud cavity 16" O. C.:

Still need to grab the right-angle adapter for the drill to get that drop screwed in all the way.

Went up to the shop yesterday and grabbed the charger for the batteries for the original B&D coredless drill, got those all charged up.

Still haven't been able to locate the HF speed control ... 🤬

Forgot to recharge the Altec RockBox day before so I was kind of off my game yesterday due to lack of tunes ...

Hope everyone is having a decent TGIF ... (y)

67°F and .47 inches rain

Managed to break bow on glasses. A quick fix but temporary. Trip to Walmart to order new.

Dinner with the kids at the big buffet in town. Expensive but enjoyable.

They are off this morning in hopes of catching the volcano going off. Expectations are promising

Prayers for all
Be safe
Have a great tractor day

Good Tractor Late Morning,
Scott yes it should no problem! You radio internal tuner will tune about a 3:1 SWR range and the external tuner will tune about a 10:1 SWR range so you will turn the internall tuner off and just use the external tuner
Yes Steve, I did read that somewhere. Although I didn’t think I would need a Balun, maybe I do we will see 😉

You may not "need" a balun, but I would be very surprised if a balun didn't help you and the external tuner out. To me, I think it is sensible as it deals with some of the issues that @WinterDeere pointed out above. I don't mind manual tuning, but I have always like auto tuners, both for the simplicity and for the spot on results.

Do you have the space for a delta configuration like @B7510HSD?

All the best,

Peter

Here's hoping the rest of the winter isn't as mild, otherwise I'll feel like a fool for buying the snowblower!
Isn’t that how it always is?!? The warmest and most-snowless three winters I’ve ever experienced occurred immediately after the purchase of my last snowblower and plow. :D

Like others have said, you’ll use them eventually, and be glad you bought them for less this year and had them ready, than paying more later.

One note my balun also has a CMC (common mode choke) to keep RF off the feedline.

Went shopping in the other direction today. Decided to try mission there, since in January when you purchase a meal, you get an envelope that you bring back in February, and you get free stuff, from a soda or side to a whole meal. They have to open the envelope in Feb for you to get free whatever is in side. Anyways, had good smoked cheeseburger. Guy came around giving out samples of their cheesy potatoes, and I mentioned I didn't see them on the menu or I would have ordered them. He came by later with a bowl of them for me. I will certainly praise them online for their service.
Got pair of Jeans at that TSC. Got 2 posts i needed at that HD. So a much better outcome in the town north instead of the town south yesterday.

When I got home, BB came to greet me, but first he went under my camper where there was an orange cat, then he came to me. The orange cat reluctantly came over following BB, and let me pet him or her. It went back under the camper, and BB followed me to the house. I went back out and put some food on the porch for it, but it stayed down under the camper. It doesn't look starved.

Happy Birthday Rswyan 🎉

FWT I’m not sure where you are but if on east coast I think your blower will come in very useful

👍

This is all for directed energy weapons research and EMC hardening of military equipment for threats varying from nuclear blasts to solar radiation.
gosh I have a nice supply of tin foil helmets I picked up in New Mexico, you could test them for protection against
alien frequencies!
it's those funny noises I'm hearing.... ;)

successful afternoon. Friend with dumpster came and easily got junk out of my basement and hauled away.
looks much better down there now

light rain has started, about 47 out now.

sorry you got a runaround Buckeye, that sounds frustrating.

Friday night, date night

The stuff I'm designing for would melt the aluminum to your head in about a second flat! :ROFLMAO: You think your little 1 kW microwave oven can cook a dinner plate pretty quick? Try 100 kW directed through a high-gain horn antenna! Not usually something you want to be anywhere near, when they power on.

One of the more amusing problems we watch our customers deal with, is setting fire to the absorber cones in their anechoic chambers, or to the plywood coverings many try to use to weather-proof their outdoor stations.

I've told before the story of one of our customers killing a coworker, when accidentally energizing an antenna with a man out on the test pad. He was about 300 feet away from the antenna, as I recall. Death was slow, something like 3 days, due to many cooked organs.
