Happy belated Birthday, Rswyan.

Is like 10 out right now, missed the comet last night. Too much light pollution from that area of the sky. Darn. Highs in the upper 30's today. At least the last two days have been ultra sunny! Think I will just go for a long walk today with the SO.

Have a great day everyone.

Oh, for smoking, I gave up trying to find smoking wood, and just rely on the store bought bags of whatever and soaking them in water. Could not tell the difference, and it ended up being less work anyhow. The variety is really amazing.

-1 here and calm. Happy B day Rswyan. That pizza sounds good, need apicture. How do you stop getting all that grease with those toppings?

I'll get a pic.

I plan on slicing the pepperoni, laying it out on paper towels on a plate and microwave it until it sizzles, then blot the top with a paper towel too. That will get rid of a lot of the fat. The ground sausage will get well-browned in a skillet, drained and squeezed. It's 94% lean, no additives, so not too bad for a starting point. My stomach doesn't like a lot of animal fat, so I get rid of as much as possible up front and start with the leanest hamburger or ground pork I can find.

If you start with actual sausage like patties or Italian sweet links, it's very difficult to find some in the grocery store that is made with a lean mix. It's better to start with lean ground pork and add spices to your taste. You also avoid the nitrate preservatives that are in most prepared sausages.

The butterfat in the cheese doesn't bother me.

RS, sorry about your fall. Hope everything stops hurting soon. And a belated happy Bday.
Hope you get some easy heat soon. Maybe go to Plan D or E or F since you've done A,B,C etc...

Since I live down south I have a stupid question. Just how much is a new furnace installed? (I know I couldn't afford to buy one myself right now.)

I split by hand (maul) here. You would think I don't need that much firewood but I have the absolute most inefficient fireplace known to mankind. All the heat goes up the chimney. So even for central Texas, I have burned about a cord so far this winter. That is a record for us. Like TxDon, I've been pushing over dead post oaks. Some 12", some 32" +. I try to split 18" or less.

FWIW, if I go to a carnival that has one of those contraptions where you use a maul to hit the fulcrum and try to ding the bell with the weight, well,,,,, I can usually ring the bell. Guess that wood splitting pays off. It's more technique than brute strength IMO. :)

PS. I had some tools ordered at work on Dec 22 that I did not receive 'til Jan 8. Longest wait ever.

11 this morning when I got up. Low of 1 high of 30. Didn't think it was supposed to be so cold last night. Rain moving in tomorrow high mid 30's. Finally above freezing. Happy belated birthday rs. Dave looking forward to a picture of your pizza.

Back to chicken coop today. Turn heat on in the other 2 barns today. Well turn it up. Heats been on about 40 since midweek to make sure they didn't freeze up. First time I've ever had to do that. Just not a lot of heat in the litter this year.

Good morning! We are in a "Winter Weather Advisory". 35˚ occasional light rain. This is the 3rd day in a row that our temperatures have stayed in the 30s.

.05" rain, no ice. Still have not needed to turn on the central heat pump, the WBS on low burn, with the fan off, is maintaining the inside temp at 70˚. I will run out of wood tonight unless I take a hike into the wet woods - still thinking about that.

Rswyan looks like you found out you are no longer a bouncing boy just another with TMB.

Drew, sorry to hear about your fender bender. Are you settling with the ladies in person :)

Happy belated birthday Rswyan. I do believe there is a correlation between birthdays and the bounce effect unfortunately.
If I understand our UPS driver son, getting stuck is not a good thing, especially if it causes a time delay, even moreso if they require a tow. Those trucks may not have the best traction. So while he got stuck more often in his earlier days, now he more actively avoids the possibility.
Of course we don't have that problem here, but when I'm expecting something I really really want from either Fedex or UPS, I'm on the tracking software and try to be at my gate waiting for them.

My nickname in high school was Dual Quad. Funny, never had a car with one,

Well, congratulations.
But to answer your question, just figure out which half of your remaining stuff you can do without. :D

I noticed you didn't say "good news"

Just remember: If Mama's not happy, NOBODY's happy. ;)

Lost half of it in my divorce two years ago, so I guess once the second half disappears I can just move into a nursing home.... I have been trying to plan it that way all along....less stuff, less to move...

Congrats, Bill. Sometimes it just takes practice to get it right :)
Been married over 30 years this time and while not always perfect, I sure wouldn't trade for the alternatives.
Best wishes for you both.
