Farmer2009 hope your boy is feeling okay and you are getting the building warmed up for the chicks. Bad weather timing for warming up. I remember those fussy earache and head cold nights when the kids were little.

We had about 3 inches of fluffy snow,I got that all cleaned up suppose to have some drifting tonight.We are going to have another cold night -10 below.

Thanks Dave. Turns out it's a soar throat for the boy and a round of antibiotics. He was pulling at his ears that what had us thinking ears. He's been really good today some kids are really whiny when sick but not him. Just wants to sleep and be left alone.

Yep houses are now a balmy 94 degrees.

It does look good, I'll have to try a good cleaning before I buy any vinyl paint. What color are you painting it?

After the mold and mildew scrubbing and just prior to painting I wiped them down with acetone.

Got the wood gathering done this afternoon. Two quick trips with the 'bota to snatch up a couple of bucket loads of rounds and logs ... will last thru most of the day tomorrow.

I didn't even bother to put on the insulated Carhardt jeans and insulated boots ... although I did pull out the rabbit fur hat that I had gotten the old man for one of his birthdays.

After that I ran to HFT and picked up a couple of 16" diameter tires and wheels and a trailer coupler for the splitter. Also hit the Acme and grabbed some cleaning vinegar to derust the inside of the hydraulic tank ... and a whole chicken for dinner.

Then I grabbed the kerosene heater and headed up to the shop ...

It was still 31 degrees in there - despite no fire (in over 24/48 hours ?) and outside temps in the teens. All I can figure is with the sun, the heat gain held the inside temp up.

After that I can back and was falling asleep just about the time The 'Cake hit the door. Woke up around 23:00.

Got a nice fire hummin' along down in the stove here at the house and I'm gonna head up to the shop here in a minute or two and see how warm the Corona heater got it up to.

Well we have been fortunate, the storm hit to the north of us, so we've been fine.
Not so good for those living further up and in Scotland though. Winds gusted at a peak of 113mph in the Highlands, which I think is the highest every recorded up there.

I never made it to your part of England but the pics online of the Shropshire Hills are easy on the eye. Very nice.

Shropshire is a beautiful county, with a landscape of rolling hills, small market towns and not too many people.
I count myself very lucky to be living here.

I originally lived in Yorkshire, but there's work to do, so the story of how I came to be here will have to wait for another day.

26 and very windy today high of 36 later today, back into teens tonight then only 32 tomorrow. Heat still broken they will come today to fix it if they have whatever part is broken. The heat pump by itself seems to be able to maintain 63 with no strip heat to help it out. Looks like next week will be damp and cold. Rumors of snow for here are just that cold air has no staying power. Good Morning

Well, after hitting the gym this morning, I'll start splitting and stacking firewood...fingers crossed that the splitter is feeling cooperative and starts right away.

Mainly referring to my area models are having such a hard time this year for anything more than a day or two out and SEastern Ridge is very strong this year not allowing cold air to become entrenched. For my area if it does anything it will ultimately turn to cold rain. For those of us in Virginia North Carolina that like snow will have to wait until later in winter if my crystal ball is correct. From here I'm afraid it's fuzzy

Congrats!! ( I think ) That is the part of work I liked the least. I am up early, need to get some things done here. We have a wedding today, my sister is getting married, down at the courthouse. It isn't the 1st time for either of them, but they still seem excited!!
