Wow. I have not heard that before - must be hospitalized to get Regeneron.

Here they have set up Regeneron treatment centers. All they do is take referrals from Docs and do the infusions. Takes about 2 hours in and out.

Versus less than than 10 minutes to administer a shot of the vaccine ... that largely eliminates the need for Regeneron (or similar) treatments ... at least for most people.

They want to get people “infused” within 10 days of first symptom. They say the whole idea is to keep them out of a hospital.

Pretty sure that was the idea behind getting people vaccinated as well: keeping folks from getting a level of the disease that would potentially become life-threatening and would require hospitalization.

That is correct. In fact it is not authorize for people who are hospitalized due to covid.

"Monoclonal antibodies are not authorized for use in patients:
  • - who are hospitalized due to COVID-19, or
  • - who require oxygen therapy due to COVID-19, or
  • - who require an increase in baseline oxygen flow rate due to COVID-19
in those on chronic oxygen therapy due to underlying non-COVID-19 related comorbidity."

The following web site has all the info including the phone number to call to get authorization for the treatment. It does not appear that you need a Drs' order.

An anti-vac friend received the treatment and slowly improved after 3 weeks and never was admitted into a hospital.

FDA has given emergency use authorization for the antibody infusion - That's the same as the vaccines were initially given. However the antibody infusion protects for only about a month, the vaccines protect longer.

A study of 13 states over a period of six months showed that among adults,

those who were fully vaccinated made up only 4% percent of hospitalizations.

CDC
read this today
maybe not 99 percent
lot of older sick people got vaccinated, but that didn't keep them from being old and sick and I bet
wouldn't take too much to put some folks over the medical ledge.

The numbers are so overwhelming it gets down to a wonderful term.
Intransigence
refusal to agree or take action despite overwhelming evidence to the contrary.

Some folks are proud to be stubborn. I'd prefer being proud of hopefully being smart.

I don't think any of us want this thread getting hijacked by a covid discussion, but since it affects literally all of us,
hard to ignore.
I don't think stats are going to change anyone's mind any more.
Some folks need their house to be on fire before they think of smoking in bed...

Absolutely gorgeous day out, high 70s and sunny, my friend greatly appreciated my being the chauffeur this morning.
He is doing remarkably well for being 11 days out with a new hip.
There was a nice breeze out this morning and through the open doors of the Meetinghouse it felt really nice.

Changed into grubbies and headed out to tear the veggie garden apart, get the squash and pepper plants out, and might plant the rest
of the beet and radish seeds I have. I've been looking forward to this all day.

Good worship service. I led song service.
Ate out at the usual place after.

78° and sunny.
Yard needs mowed and I need a nap. Wonder who wins?

Yep!!!
With the whole family, actually...
She's still a puppy, with all the puppy orneriness, but she is picking up some "commands" (she takes them as suggestions). Biggest problem is she loves to chew and doesn't know what she can, and can't chew...that'll work out soon enough. She also loves sleeping on the sofa or bed with my wife or I...
Oh yeah...she still thinks my shoes are her chew toys...
Kind of a rough beginning, but it's working out OK...

Sounds heart warming 🤙
Good luck with the chewing thing. Makani is almost 14 months is still a chewer, luckily not shoes etc. I was joking the other day as he had a piece of palm frond dangling from his mouth that I wondered if they make doggy chewing gum.

David, you are the only guy I know who can spend most of his day in flip flops,
despite being amazingly productive. Just hope Makani doesn't take a hankering for rubber or plastic.
Shoeless in Hawaii.
Somehow I think pups would want to chew on leather, who knows.
Palm frond sounds pretty good too.

makes me wonder for those of you who have dogs what is their favorite chew toy made out of?
And do they get tired of it? Chew it to absolute bits?

I had a slight miss statement in my first;
It is being administered at the hospital and those hospitalized early are getting it,
they had 50 individuals get the Regeneron treatment just last week.
These are people that had their Doctors prescribe the treatment, but they came to the hospital for the treatment.
I have to wonder who is making the decisions and directives on who and when to administer different treatments in the different states.

Went to A&M game yesterday. Got there very early to watch the corp band "Step off". They were awesome to watch. Military precision.

It was HOT! But late in the game, we actually got rained on. It felt so good, and I was glad to stay out in it.

I spent a lot of time Friday working on the old Impala, which had developed a front end wobble what seemed like "over night". I believe it is either the older tires, or possibly the CV axles. Hate to put new tires on it, especially if they are not the problem....older car....should have sold it long ago but figured daughter might drive it. She doesn't like it. Decisions, decisions.

Still haven't gotten the motivation to work on Gator. Planning to remove carb again, and take to work to accurately measure the supplied jets in the cheapie carb rebuild kit, comparing them to the factory jets. Neither are marked. Will use small gage pins. Also will push the needle's seat back into it's pocket all the way.

My wifey's birthday is tomorrow. She's really a beautiful woman. I love her to bits.

I didn’t like the 56 Chevy station wagon my parents let me drive when I got my license, but it was alway preferable to walking.

Happy Birthday, Mrs Kyle. And many more.

Good Morning!!!! 60F @ 5:15AM. A mix of clouds and sun. High 79F. Winds WSW at 5 to 10 mph.
Picked up all of 0.17" of gentle rain starting at about 4:30 yesterday afternoon. Nothing more since midnight. This morning's AQI is in the single digits, cleaner than I've seen it in months. Tomorrow around dinner time we'll start another PSPS blackout, rumored to last through Tuesday. Same old story of low humidity, high temperatures, and a big north wind.

I'm about half way through the latest MedCram video which covers many questions related to CoVid-19. It's a two hour discussion, and so far I've seen statistics that claim more than 90% of new cases nationwide are in people that have not been vaccinated. That site has many other CV19 videos as well, and from what I've seen so far, seems fairly free of any particular bias. They also touch on the data gathering, and claim that it is inconsistent and incomplete, which is driving the confusion a lot of people have regarding getting vaccinated.

Three weeks of classes is a looooooooooong time, Paul. But then switching airplanes is a little more complicated than going from an automatic to a stick shift...

I think I'd have a hard time being sold on solderless fittings, Doug, but no doubt that they save time. I'd also figure out some kind of bushing to ensure no rattles or wear where the pipes penetrate those steel 2x4s, but then I'm just an over cautious engineer, and what do I know?

Got the trench filled yesterday with a couple FEL buckets of sand to spare. Still have some grading and cleanup to do, and need to connect the wires for the level sensor in the top tank to the pump controller, but that's a two minute job. While I was working around the upper tank yesterday I noticed water leaking out of the fill fitting at the top, so the tank is more than full. Icing on the cake for that project. The rain started spitting just as I finished, and by the time I got the tractor and side-by-side hosed off, I was getting wetter from the rain than the vehicles were from the hose. Felt good.

Went inside and changed clothes, went out to the back porch and sat listening to the rain on the metal roof while I enjoyed a cold beer or two. Been a long time since I've heard that noise. No rain in the 10-day, and we're right back up into the 90s starting Monday.

Hope everyone enjoys the second half of their weekend!
You are correct about the copper going through the steel frame. After that photo, the holes were all sealed around with sealant to keep them clear of the frame and secure the piping to prevent corrosion/ banging. He was a pretty thorough plumber. It was a Milwaukee crimper used on the joints and I think the price was closer to AU$3000 here.
