47F and partly cloudy @ 11:00, heading up to around 54F for the day's high. 1% chance of precip. Low this morning was 30.2F.

Got the top platform all welded up after tacking miscue. Top:

Found that piece of 1" angle and brought it inside the shop and trimmed off a couple of pieces for the ramp.

Got the rest of the steel cut for the ramp and got it all tacked up. Top:

He'll need to do some clean up and a little trimming.

Friend will come by sometime after noon and we'll head over to his place to check the fit on the ramp and if good head back over here and I'll finish welding it up.

After I finished tacking things up yesterday I came back down to the house and got back to working on insulation/plumbing in the basement.

Got two more pieces of 2" foam board trimmed and dry fit around the pipe coming from the well. The one required some additional trimming for a window.

These can't be glued in place just yet as I need to sweat another piece of 1" copper pipe onto the 1" pipe coming from the well and there isn't enough distance to avoid smoking the foam board.

Also trimmed a 1" polyiso panel to length for the north wall where I got a set of metal shelves moved out of the way the other day.

After that I cleaned behind some HVAC ducting and used a bunch of scrap 1 1/2" foam board to insulate behind that as there wasn't enough clearance between the concrete wall and the duct work to use 2" foam board.

Then glued a piece of 2" foam board below the duct to more or less complete the foam board on the south wall. Just have to piece in a little area where some round duct goes to a register up in the dining room.

Noticed a big difference in surface temp on the foam board vs. the bare concrete wall.

After I finish the welding today, I may do a little leaf blowing if the sun is still out. It's supposed to be windy this afternoon so that may get put off until tomorrow when it's warmer with less wind.

Otherwise it will be back down into the utility room. Probably start trimming 2 x 4's for the studs and maybe get some sections of wall put up.

Need to check pre-charge in the pressure tank as I noticed the well pump is short cycling.

Otherwise just see what comes up.

Hope everyone is having a decent day ... (y)

A very uneventful trip for us today. 2 ambulances were busy on side roads, didn't bother us at all.
Pissed down rain most of the day, stopped raining in NB but still raining at home.
Got the block heater wire fished out of its' summer hiding spot. I just have to put the zip ties away tomorrow. I WILL be outside tomorrow mucking out the cats.
Knees are NOT liking all this dampness.:(

I will NEVER drive big truck again, that part of my career is over and done with. I only did it for 50 years.

My electric (Hydro) bill just came in...475 kwh for the past 30 days. = 15.8 kwh/day. $103.88 Total all in. I pay 9.3 cents per kwh as long as I don't go over the tier 1 limit of 600 kwh in summer and 1,000 kwh in winter. IF I DO GO OVER then it costs me 11.5 cents/kwh for the overage. That is easy to take. I haven't paid a hydro bill in 4 years, mainly because when I was working I double paid. At one point they were sitting on $4000.oo of my money. We just flipped over to 'winter rates', I now get 1,000 kw hours to play with per month before I have to pay through the nose.

really didn't want to dig holes for mums so decided to wax front of rv
so that looks nice for trip. hands smell like carnauba wax now, which I find pleasant.

went foodshopping earlier and got some cheese and other munchies for trip.
now time to put feet up

on this day a few years back the two smaller Masseys were posing for this
picture I guess. Older 27hp hydro vs much newer full manual 50hp.
Well it did have power steering. I restored the small one, the medium one came looking like new

those are 2 nice looking tractors there Drew.

installed a new Cell Game camera, different brand, paid little extra for HD pics which are real nice. Trying it out here, but it will go to the farm to replace one of the cams there. Should get their recharge battery and solar panel. THis cam allows on demand pics and quicker sending of pics.

Took another 5 gal of used oil to recycle, down to only around 7 gal left here, should have taken a few more, no one checked on me today.
Got the emission ripoff test done, Price went from $10 to $26 for the self service.
lunch at mission bbq.
sams club, walked out $255 poorer, then another $155 poorer at Costco. several item on sale, so some preemptive purchases. Asked the guy checking the card at costco, You know what's the best thing about Sams Club? You don't have to show your card to get in. Actually, the best part is the self checkout with no lines, and walking out without them having to inspect everything. don't know how that scanner works, but they just wave you on.
And scratched my truck with the cart at costco, was watching to make sure I didn't get the one beside me, and got mine real good... Another nice thing about sams club, more parking... But they didn't have everything so had to go to costco also.

beautiful day out today, little breezy now.

The New York State inspection is a total farce, I don't know how much the state gets for each one but the inspection cost is somewhat fixed;

If the shop does everything they are supposed to, it's a money looser for them. As if will take over a half hour and the charge for most vehicles ends up being about $21.

My truck was done last month and my wifes car is due this month, it will be interesting to see what we get charged for her's being electric a tad bit difficult to do an commission test, so it should only be $10.

I switched from Aetna Premier to Humana Premier coverage and mine went down $5 a month. Same Doctors.
Kept same plan...same doctors, no premium increase (but co-pay increased).

Still shopping for a Part D plan for my wife since her provider quit offering.
