Good morning!!!!

David, you are the only guy I know who can spend most of his day in flip flops,
despite being amazingly productive. Just hope Makani doesn't take a hankering for rubber or plastic.
Shoeless in Hawaii.
Somehow I think pups would want to chew on leather, who knows.
Palm frond sounds pretty good too.

makes me wonder for those of you who have dogs what is their favorite chew toy made out of?
And do they get tired of it? Chew it to absolute bits?

LOL, and the rest of the day I’m barefooted. Most common here in Hawaii not to wear shoes in house.

Makani did get a pair Sophie’s slippahs early own. Unfortunately they were last pair she got from her Mom before she passed.

As for chew toys, all our pups have liked balls. We usually have racket balls around. Flash really liked golf balls. All have liked soft, stuffed toys. Some have worked them until they get the squeaker removed. Seems all get the stuffing removed eventually. Sometimes they become tug toys, like the ropes. Makani seems to have a number of empty bodies scattered around. All have liked Rawhides.
I’d have to rate real bones as the favorite. Both Kekoa and Makani will rummage in their toy box and get the one they favor for now. Unfortunately they never put any back. Sara, the Shark robot vac gets hung up. Even worse is when I step on one.

We have 3 little dogs and none of them chew anything at all. We have tried toys but they have no interest in them either. The white fluffy dog sometimes lies on the lawn and the chickens will come and sit near her. The Pug will chase the chickens off the porch if we tell him to. They are all well behaved.

Drew, unfortunately you are right, very unlikely to change minds of the anti vaxxers, although actually getting covid seems often effective, especial the ones contributing to herd immunity by decreasing size of the herd.
One observation from what I’ve read and heard is the non vax supporters seem to know the most vaccinated people who got covid or suffered severe reaction to vaccine. None of my vaccinated family, friends, or acquaintances fit either category.

I do wish that cited stats were more reliable and consistent.

Got through the rest of the MedCram video just now. There was some info on breakthrough cases, but not direct statistics. They presented efficacy numbers for the various vaccines as they related to the delta variant. For the Pfizer vaccine, efficacy dropped, and I'm going by memory here so see the video for the exact numbers, from something in the 80% level with the earlier virus versions to somewhere near 50%. For Moderna, initial number was in the mid 90%, and it dropped to 75%. Regardless of the variant, there have been breakthrough cases of CV19 infection right from the very start. It's worse with delta. They made the point that these are infection rates, not hospitalizations or deaths.

There was good news on both of those fronts, too. Delta is better at infecting people, but the hospitalization rate and the death rate for vaccinated people is much lower now than it has been with previous variants. There are a combination of factors working to that end, but the primary one is the efficacy of the vaccines.

Here's a slide listing the topics that were covered:

The two doctors also emphasized that their efforts aren't meant to badger people into getting vaccinated by trotting out reams of statistics. Rather, they've tried to explain the trends the disease has taken, and the evolution of the theraputic and vaccine treatments, in an effort to demistify a very confusing subject. Then with the knowledge gained, people can make an informed decision about the safety of the vaccines verses their benefit. For me, investing two and a half hours of my life watching this video was not a waste of time at all, as it reinforced the choices I've made so far. Maybe it will do the same for others that watch it.

70F full sunshine with blue sky just sucking in this nice weather, around 45F for over night low.

Shed got good old fashion cleaning and sweeping even the chipmunks were impress how clean it is now.
I must have been in numb state of mind (cigar smoke) for NASCAR car race was last evening.
Decided to make tonight dinner the dish Mrs. looking forward to...points for me. :)

Retirement...been almost 2 years last couple months plus I've been bored, all the projects done and almost ready for winter, strongly thinking about 20-25 hour week job to keep out recliner and pacing around wearing holes in my socks...looks like going to be interesting talk with the Mrs. since she has negative attitude about me returning to work force.

No plans for this evening other than stilling on the deck waiting for stars and critters.

Enjoy your evening all.

You got to do what you gotta do...
I tried retirement for about a year in 2012, when I turned 62. Got bored, applied for a couple jobs and did some contract QA/QC work.
Re-entered the workforce full time when I got hired by Vermont Castings. That job was a disaster...not the company itself, but the holding company that owned Vermont Castings. Laid off quite a few of the salaried staff (including me) about 7 or 8 moths after I was hired.
Anyway, still working at 71 (72 in January 2022) and I'll probably hang in a few more years. Only time I even think about retiring is Monday mornings about 0400...
Thomas, if you're in decent health, go back to work...at least part time and doing something you like...

No shoes in my house either. Amazing how much cleaner the house stays.

Wife and son are off to a concert tonight. I gotta feed critters and get to evening service that started up again last week.

Did get the nap in.
