Good morning. It's 67°, humid, but not as windy as past few days. Our high should be over 80° this afternoon. There is also some rain in our Sunday forecast.

I received notice, from USPS, that my ordered compressor repair parts were to be delivered yesterday so .. I removed the original piston lip seal and it was torn and likely the entire problem. Didn't remove it earlier because the screw that secured the piston to the connecting rod .. was very tight so, I gave it a smal shirt of Fluid Film and let it soak.

I went in circles trying to source the lip seal only .. as the repair parts outfits all want to sell you the complete kit of connecting rod, piston, thin cylinder, and lip seal for $60-$70. I thought I'd identified the right part #for the lip seal but, when I opened the package it was actually a 1.5" O-ring. So .. back to square #1.

I found a lip seal, on Amazon, last evening that looks close. Most show no dimensions but, this one did and I decided it's worth $8.59 to find out. We'll see Monday if .. I've wasted my $8.59.

The lip seal is usually the problem and the cylinder bore must be 100% free of defects for a new seal to work. I bored my cylinder twice and experimented with two different materials trying to make a lip seal but they need to be some sort of vulcanized rubber or something.

Don, I just got my first moderna shot and I asked if being covid positive previously would be considered as a first dose but they said no.

Drew, they said to expect local pain and swelling but later I could experience fever, chills, tiredness, or headache.

42F and sunny @ 13:00 ... and although it's beautiful out, the high today will only hit 48F. The high this coming Wednesday is predicted to be 63F ... so might be a good day to get some sanding done outside.

Got five white worm containers fed last night ... all of them seem to be doing fairly well, but a couple of them are just burgeoning with little wiggling white inhabitants. At this rate, I'll be needing to buy a loaf of cheap white bread weekly.

Have a couple suet feeders that need refilled today, might put out a little for the squirrels while I'm at it - probably only enough for them to eat today, so nothing is left overnight. Also need to fix that one feeder pole that I didn't get to yesterday.

A little organizing and filing of paperwork will be on the menu today, along with kitchen clean up.

Also get LED light bulbs installed in garage ... should have a clear shot to the socket on at least one of them. Will be interesting to see whether 20K lumens of illumination is overkill or not.

Need to move plastic containers from Menards order down to basement and start stowing supplies and equipment in the fishroom that's going in them away.

Sounds like class is in session, a couple of lots over ... thankfully he didn't start until after noon ...

My credit union sometimes shows pending deposits and I noticed this morning they show an "In Process Transaction" of a deposit of $2,400 to be deposited in 3 days, so we get a little more for the pandemic.

Message from local bank here said not to expect to see anything before the 17th.

I read last week that this time around, the amount of stimulus we receive is somehow related to our actual need, so fourteen hundred a head isn't a sure thing for everyone.

I think the more accurate characterization would be that the stimulus is not going to at least some that definitely don't need it.

I'd say at least one aspect of it is to keep the economy juiced up ... and facilitate "reopening" ...

I think one of the MedCram videos explained that "effectiveness" is measured in terms of severe illness. People that have been vaccinated are getting sick, but they're not being hospitalized, and they're not dying.

I grilled some marinated chicken breasts for lunch, put it on a roll with a little Mayo, cheddar, and dill pickle, yummy stuff.
These are chic fil a breasts that are already marinated, she gets them through her office at Perdue. 36 lbs for $20, needless to say we bought four cases.

32 and going to 48 today with clear skies.

Yesterday went better than I expected, instead of driving to Philly, I drove to the local airport where my little plane lives and flew there instead. 15 minute drive, and a 6 minute flight (7 on the way back). Even with the time spent getting the plane in and out, it cut my travel time in half.

A friend of mine had a weird problem with his Cessna a couple of days ago. He is an aeronautical engineer. He took off from a local field to fly home and a flap jammed. This caused the plane to go into a very tight turn. He struggled with it and found that he had to use opposite aileron and rudder to fly straight. He headed for home as he has a large strip with wind in the right direction. He couldn't land where he had just left from as it had a cross wind and it would not have been possible to correct for that. He found keeping speed at 80 knots was the only speed he could control the plane. His landing was very fast and he used up the full strip with none to spare.
On inspection the flap had split and burned out the flap motor. It was also badly twisted. The motor should never have burned as it has protection circuits. It also works both flaps together. None of what happened makes sense. Cessna people are working with him trying to work it out. He is a very lucky man. He owns 2 Cessnas and a Citabria.

The pharmaceutical companies must be catching up on production. I saw a headline this morning the the US and several other countries are banding together to make sure people in Southeast Asia all get the vaccine by the end of '22. Seems premature to me since the vast majority of people here in the US have yet to get the jab, but what do I know?

I heard yesterday that more than 100 million doses of the vaccine have been received in the US and we are currently hitting over 2 million administered per day:

Assuming the rate of doses administered per day continues to rise, it doesn't seem like too much of a stretch to be at least considering getting the rest of world vaccinated ... particularly given the number of people here in the US who say they are inclined not to receive it ...

Amazon deliveries here lately have also been "on time", but the duration of those deliveries has increased significantly. I used to regularly get two day Prime delivery, and one day once in a while. Now it's more like four or five days. Sure hope that's not the new normal.

A couple days for Prime delivery is the norm here currently ... even with stuff that is being sourced from Amazon warehouses quite a distance away (Houston, TX)

Just tracked that o-ring for the filter which I ordered from Amazon (not Prime) the other day ... it was shipped out of Brea, CA ... USPS tracking shows it was in Anaheim yesterday, but is slated for delivery this coming Tuesday.

If that happens, there will be no complaints from me ... as Tuesday was the earliest delivery date for the shipping method I selected.

#2 Diesel was over $3.50/gallon here yesterday, Bill. Fortunately, the just less than ten gallons I purchased was just a top off...

Was $2.79 here at the local station ... was about 20 cents higher at some others, so I expect it will be headed up at the corner station as well.

These are "thin wall" cylinders? Not sure how you would "bore" one?

I might try a bit of polishing it though.

Good morning all. Couldn't do much yesterday so went to a BBQ at the club. Good to get out. Had a good nights sleep last night and woke this a.m. feeling pretty good. No real pain just pins and needles in one hand so it is a relief. Hope it lasts. Prayers must be working.

Another very warm day coming today and unlike you guys, looking forward to the Winter as it gives us relief from the heat. Never any snow here. and our property has never had any frost in 18 years we've been here.
Heavy rain seems to be gone and lawn has recovered in time for Winter.
