I have read that there is some question if the mRNA vaccines prevent you from becoming infected or just keep you from having symptoms. Might need masks still.

Chris

In Texas our mask have been mandatory for months. I have not seen anyone inside without a mask. Yet our numbers are rising at an alarming rate. If masks really work the numbers should be decreasing.

I agree, Don. Yesterday I was in town on a grocery run, today I drove an hour and a half north to pick up more solar panels. Both trips I saw lots of folks inside businesses, including restaurants, not wearing masks at all. I also saw people wearing them incorrectly, either too loose or with their nose sticking out over the top. They might as well not be wearing anything at all.

I've also mentioned here the studies that have shown that surgical masks are not very effective at stopping the vapors that carry the virus, either breathing in or breathing out. Even an N95 respirator will still let 5% of those virus carrying vapors through. If you have the ones with the vent on the front, they'll let a LOT more of your breath escape without being filtered. No harm to you, bad for those around you.

Wearing a mask is still better than not wearing one. Staying at least 6' away from other people is better than getting any closer than that. And staying home is probably the safest thing to do right now. But the show must go on, and there's only so long you can put off going to the grocery store. But you can consolidate trips and make fewer of them, you can eat at home instead of in a restaurant, you can delay seeing friends and family, all things that will improve your chances of not getting CV19. At least until the vaccines are available, lots of little things can make a difference, and now that we're spending more and more time inside with other people, it's more important than ever to do all we can to stop the spread.

Yep, wearing a mask improperly is like holding a seat belt across your lap without connecting it.

Speaking of improper mask wearing, I saw a guy in the grocery store today wearing one below his nose.

Before that, at the PO, just as I was about to back the van out of its parking space, some old geezer got out of his car and was heading inside ... no mask.

At least that I could see.

51F and clear @ 21:30, headed down to overnight low of 43F.

Made it to the PO, then the pet store for credit and dry cat food, then swung by the grocery store for milk and bread. Was surprised at how busy they were.

Did some more work on the drive after I got home, adding more crusher run and grading it out.

Hope everyone had a good day ...
