Good morning!!!!

50 and the sun is coming out, going to 65...major flood warnings still out. Unfortunately, the rain total from this storm for us was 6.66 inches. Everything seems to be swimming in water.

Wife is bringing her mom here for birthday celebration today. First time she will have visited since the C.virus started...now the assisted living community is allowing up to 12 hours of residents going out...still no one comes in. Not sure how much sense this makes. My job is to take the trash to the dump and pick up some pizza that my MIL loves, and hasn't had in 8 months.

My free C.virus test kit, Tamiflu and digital thermometer kit came last week from my healthcare insurance provider, and also one of those home colon cancer screening tests. So I'll drop by the post office and mail off a piece of me :) . The digital thermometer is in with the trash for the dump (minus the perfectly good battery). It just doesn't read consistently, or correctly. I know I'm a cold bast*** but not one with a temp of 89F to 94F. The battery is a 2032 Panasonic, so will go into my headlamp.

Ron, great woodpecker and flag pix. Looking at that suet reminded me when I turned on the outside spotlight at 4am today, a raccoon was sitting at the bottom of the paulownia tree enjoying a brand new suet bar I had just refilled into the feeder yesterday...all gone now. :(

Eric, we like our dark skies, too, and rarely have an outside light burning, but Randy's communicating with aliens does sound like a friendly thing to do. :)

Eric has me thinking, maybe I can use my new light to communicate with aliens!

Randy you want to be careful there. According to the newspapers down the check out aisle at the supermarket not everyone enjoyed the trip with ET.

We live on a hill overlooking a shopping center. At night there is plenty of light to find my way to the bathroom.

34°F and clear skies this morning, going up to 50° today. Venus and what's left of this month's moon were both bright in the morning sky.

Boss dropped a big new project in my lap earlier this week. It's a bit outside the purview of a Quality Manager, but he suggested I'm the only one here who can do it. I think it's more that I'm the only one here who will do it. It's something that needs to be done, (and there was mention of a big fat raise if it works), so I dove right into it.

Sat down and watched a movie yesterday evening, Birds of Prey. Had been wanting to see it since it came out on Blu-ray. I have to admit, though, it was only mildly entertaining.

We were supposed to meet at the Woodson Terrace Police Department, Mostly_. They have designated meet-up parking spaces under video surveillance. It seems most PDs have this now. To the guy's credit, he did send me another text message yesterday apologizing for his behavior.

65 and raining getting up to 69 before it drops.

Flood watch around here...I believe it. Had to take Coco to the emergency vet last night, and I've never seen roads around here so flooded over on the way back home...not just standing water from hard rain, but also water flowing over the road...fortunately the water was only up to the top of the low bridge when we crossed...like you BEF, had to drive 25 to 35 most of the way...glad you got to see your dad and relatives. I'll check our rain gauge at dawn, but expecting a few inches.

rip - saw that the National Museum or the US Army opened yesterday up your way (Ft Belvoir)...the article in the WSJ I read said it is one of the 3 top military museums (one of the others is the Natl Mus. of the Pacific War in Fredericksburg, Don).

Ron, glad your hearing is improved...a shot in the ear sounds pretty rough.

David, the paint job looks good.

Kyle, a family meal for the first date sounds like a nice way to get things off on the right foot.

Ted, it sounds like you hit all the stores, maybe skipping TSC.

RNG, sounds like a fun trip.

Drinking a pretty good cup of Nicaragua I roasted yesterday. I'm ready for a second.

Hope Coco can get better.

There is a decent Army Aviation museum at Ft. Rucker in southern Alabama.

I was always told that if you remembered that poop flows down hill, don’t chew your fingernails and don’t deposit cash, you were ready to go.....

Haha, I always heard "Payday is on Friday and all threads are righty tighty, lefty loosey".

Ruidoso. Vacation started out a little rough though. We got 3/10 of a mile from our Airbnb Saturday, and my wifes jeep through a rod. Was gonna be $7k for a new motor, so we ended up buying a new car Monday. Stress level dropped once we were mobile again.

Went up the mountain by Ski Apache. Saw a sign for a look out. And decided to explore. Was beautiful, but the high elevation kicked our flat lander butts

Nice. Monjeau lookout was a fire lookout station. And if you have time, go up to see Bonita lake (not too big) and the nice drive too it.

Another hour in the proofing oven then I can bake my socks. (Using sourdough starter requires more rising time.)

Those look good....

I also suffer from horizontalspacelack-itis, both on my workbenches and my office desk. I find things need to sit and age an appropriate amount of time before being declared trash. That amount of aging is greater for me than others.

Had 1.37” of rain in this event. Matched my rain gauge best I could eyeball it. Heavy rain on way to work today.

Son stayed up and got a PlayStation 5 early this morning on it’s release day.

Mea Culpa.

Off today, want to work on Steiner, but not sure if I'll get to it.

Mostly, I finally ordered some B6HS NGK plugs, one notch hotter. Says delivery is in about 1-2 weeks. Makes me wonder if they're stateside....

PJS, sorry about your meetup woes. Maybe the punk doesn't like the Police.

rip, hope the best for the car. The daughter being safe is the most important thing. Give her a big hug, and then chew her out gently.

Good morning to all! Low of 25, going up to 54 today. Overcast right now, but sunny later.

Well the shop time was short yesterday, but it didn't take as long as I thought to get the entry bench project completed..... well, 99% completed. When I made my big round of hitting all the hardware earlier this week, I forgot to get the wrought iron coat hooks for it.... DUH!
So, a trip back to HD today to get them. Only about 10 minutes to install them, easy to do, but just a pain to have to run into town to get them.

Ron, to answer your question, it is an entry bench with area below for shoes / gloves / hats, etc... the back has place to hang jackets, sweaters etc....

Drew, that was a good buy for the garage door opener. Where did you get it? I have an 8x8' garage door on the tractor bay.... I have been contemplating getting an opener for it. It has become more and more of a pain to go around the tractor to unlock it and open manually.

PJ, good luck with the project! Hopefully some big Cha-ching!

Popgadget, sounds like a good exchange too me... especially if it is good food!

Here are the completed entry bench pics.... I will take a couple when it is in the house and with its coat hooks.

PJS, sorry about your meetup woes. Maybe the punk doesn't like the Police.

Hahaha ... the meeting place was his suggestion. He told me in one message that he could be there in 5 minutes. Rather than suggest to him that that tells me he should have left at 12:10, I just let it go at that point. When I initially gave him a description of the car I drive, he responded by telling me he would be "on foot." He's just one of those guys who doesn't have his life together, for whatever reason.

Gosh, Eric, that was thought provoking indeed. Thank you. Now you have me considering how bright our vehicle lights and how much they contribute to the pollution, especially when driving up hill and the light continues over the horizon into the sky. Maybe a good time to just turn them off?
