Yes, the trail map for the tour we did (only got about 25% complete) says the Barn Quilt concept started by a lady in Ohio in 2001 and has spread to 48 states.

I think they have been around a lot longer. I know a barn painter that has painted some. I’ll have to check.

The tour concept started then, the barns were around before then.

The barn painter I know is mentioned by name on the Ohio quilt barn trail page. Lol

If you need a barn painted, he’s the guy.

View attachment 669105View attachment 669106Good evening, the cold front came across this afternoon..... I was sweating in the shop around 11 am, Temp was 85. By 1:30, I was getting an occasional chill from the breeze. At 3 pm, the temp had dropped to 59. At 8pm it was down to 45.... total of 40 degree drop...brrrr... feels good for a change. The expected overnight temps should drop to 30.... earliest hard freeze on record. I guess the flowers are toast....

I was successful at modifying the neighbors BH thumb and getting it mostly installed. I had to cut it in half, bolt it on temporarily, and weld the sides to the dipper stick. Got it primered and painted. I will get it fully assembled tomorrow (if the weather permits) and post pics of the finished thumb.

Oh, he was able to use the fence unroller for the first time today.... worked like a charm! He got 200' pulled and installed in about 1 1/2 hours. I will get pics of them using it next time.

Good evening all. 74F for the start, mostly clear, light breeze. Light to moderate wind, sky clouded up, and had 2 cell rain on us for .2 inch in rain gauge. High temp 88F. Cold air not forecast to stay so long, still no 90's in 10 day forecast. Went biking first thing in morning, too hot for wife to walk after done riding, so finished mowing. Cleaned boat and put cover on, and yes a nap :)
Covid update: Cooke unchanged, Montague unchanged, Grayson unchanged.
Eric tha was supposed to be 29 mile in 2 hours.
Eric have used fly rod to catch bait fish for trot line not much bigger than that for years. Second largemouth on my lake was on a fly ro using a poping bug. 2 pound bass on a fly rod is FUN see attached.
Drew glad BBQ was good.
Ron not sure what proper name is
Billy fly fishing can be used to catch large blue gill, bass and anything else that feed on or near surface
RNG once you get the scope working for you sounds like you will track down the issues you have
Teorry about the lack of help, hope you get thumb mounted and get some rain!
PJ sun room looks nice, if not a bit crowded. Like your new hat, if you don't see your self you won't care how you look, at leat I don't. Sun protection and staying cool is the name of the game :)
RS was wondering what I was looking at. Also quite the trip
David glad to hear rest is working.
Randy alway nice when no starts are that simple. nice pic of GS
Ken glad b-day party went well, had a lot of prep work.
Jim lookes like an avatar to me
RS glad you got new seat on, 22 hostas is a lot of digging
prayers for all, especially Drew/move, Jay/Peg, Kyle's daughter, Mike, David(moss)/move/sale
stay safe and healthy you all.

Good job on the thumb, Ted.

Wx never cooperated for any mowing this morning, but afternoon proved perfect to pick up newest family member.

Meet Makani, 7 week old boxer. Same breeder but different parents as Kekoa. He arrived about 3:30 this afternoon after short hop from Oahu. Did well at initial vet check, got shots. 5.7 lbs.

Most animated I’ve seen Kekoa since Kalani passed. His little nub has barely stopped. Good to see. Simba, the cat, still processing, keeping his distance.

Strange. As it has FLA roots vs Lithium, not the optimal battery monitor but still very useful and as far as I know the only one that integrates with rest of the system. Once dialed in a user would have almost no need to mess with the settings so it just provides data.

A lot of people use a Trimetric or similar, but they are standalone. I was very pleased when I 1st installed mine in old system as I finally got more usable info.

Here is a screenshot of day before yesterday (last full day due to network outage)

They were supposed to supply a Trimetric, but now they're saying the've been discontinued and they're having trouble finding one.

Without the shunts, Optics can't calculate SOC, so I get voltage readings instead. I have a table from the owner of the battery company that relates battery voltage to SOC, and today I spent some time going through the MATE3S settings to see how they relate to the SOC. I was somewhat alarmed that the generator won't come on until SOC drops to 30%, especially since I told them I didn't want it dropping to less than 80% in fire season, which is hitting its peak now.

Here's today's chart, looking a lot like yours, now that the grid is down:

I'm very happy to report that I was able to run the A/C setting it at 73F all the way up until 4PM, when production fell off a cliff as it usually does. Probably need to hose off the panels. Battery's not big enough to run the A/C at night, but I can get by with a ceiling fan since the house isn't all heated up.

Looks to be producing well 🤙

A Trimetric control your generator? Maybe, but not that I’m familiar with.

I believe you have 2 sets of shunts in your GSLCs. Me, I would insist they be hooked up (properly) so YOU can make decision if appropriate. Just out of curiousity you might want to research how many hundreds of dollars you have going to waste. My understanding is you want to have remote control/access - again I don’t think there is a main stream solution other than FNDC.

As for your generator run. You have lithium batteries. Your 80% requirement is overkill, more in line with FLA maybe, the 30% more reasonable. Sure you could tweak it up to 35 or 40%. You might want to ask battery manufacturer for their recommendations as there might be the possibility to damage them if not allowed to fall below 80%.

I rarely count on production after 3pm.
