Good morning!!!!

We got just about our ANNUAL rainfall in the first 6 months of this year. Then 1.37" in July; mostly in the last few days, and then .98" in August; sure been dry lately. But then, this afternoon, a front passed through, I reckon. It didn't start raining here until after 1 p.m. and just after 3 p.m. I went out with an umbrella and dumped just over 5 inches of rain out of the gauge. Been a long tine since I've seen rain that heavy. I can see that I've already got another quarter inch in the gauge, but it's really slowed down now.

RNG - need to cal power factor to find out cap bank size-https://www.electronics-tutorials.ws/accircuits/power-factor-correction.html
then look up power correction factor correction unit to see what you can buy ready to install

Gosh, Ken, that was a trip down memory lane, back to undergraduate physics in halls draped with cobwebs and coated with inches of dust! Reactance and Imaginary Axis, oh my! Got all the way through the article, then they say to determine the capacitor size based on the size of the inductor. So I scoured through the spec sheets and installation instructions for the A/C compressor, and guess what? No inductance was given.

Maybe I can calculate it based on the voltage trace I record on the oscilloscope? Assuming it ever gets here; it was coming via UPS, but they just handed it off to the USPS, and they haven't made up their mind when they'll deliver it...

First, they took blood for kidney function...and I was told that came out OK.
It'll take about 2-3 days before I get feedback on the scan itself.
Well, at least I know my kidneys work...

73F and mostly overcast @ 20:30, high hit 81F ... 70% chance of rain after midnight, 80% chance tomorrow day.

Started off spreading more screened soil over on west planting bed, then cleared off about 1/2 the straw of new grass, then went down and got the water buffalo and filled it up.

The Woman ran down to the hardware store and picked up 50# of play sand for the ginkgo tree.

After that she worked on getting the mums planted and trimming up the front entry way and The Squeak got a little outside time in her hardness (about 10 minutes worth ...)

I filled in around the upper catch basin, bentonited it, compacted it, put on a top layer of screened soil, seeded it, covered with straw and got it watered:

Then we took lunch break - she made BLT's with low acid yellow tomatoes ... :licking:

After that she fed downstairs cat, I refilled bird feeders, and then we checked the newly transplanted rhododendrons and watered those. Deer have definitely been pruning the hosta over there since the rain washed off all the Bonide Shotgun ...

After that we went up and prepped the planting hole for the ginkgo tree with about 40# of sand and a bag of composted manure. Hopefully get it planted tomorrow.

Last things were she cleaned up front entryway and I watered those twenty hosta I planted the other day that never got watered. Funny thing about those ... moles looked like they tunneled to almost every plant ...

Looking forward to a shower.

Hope everyone had a great day ...

Wife made homemade salsa today. No spice packet, used her own. Canned 7 pts with a big bowl left to eat on.

After supper I got the cover off the transmission.

Pry a little at a time.
IMG_6561.JPG
Magnets pretty dirty. 2 near the filter, one near the drive gear.
IMG_6566.JPG
Could not get the inside 3 bolts loose with the battery impact. So unboxed a harbor freight earthquake air impact I bought many years ago but have never needed to use before. It took them right out.
This is the old pump that got replaced.
IMG_6569.JPG
Installed new pump, new motor, and the new plate (center block) they attach to. Had a hard time getting in back in. You have to push the motor springs in, hold in a couple little pieces align it all.
IMG_6577.JPGthe darker piece is the hydraulic motorthat then drives the gears to the axle. Took over an hour getting this in as the bearing at the first gear wasn’t going in its slot. After many times in and out, and about loosing one of these little spring (ids spring, filter, valve)that I had to move to the new piece IMG_6572.JPG
I finally started tightening the bolt on that side and it drew it down in the slot.
Put the cover on for the night. Tomorrow need to torque the inner bolts and clean the cover edges, apply new caulk and bolt the cover on. Then let it dry before filling with new fluid.

Apparently it’s the wear between the pump and center block and center block to motor that causes the loss of power. Here is the old block IMG_6582.JPG

Happy 7/17 Anniversary PJ and wifey!

No mention of a refrigerant based dryer? Or maybe cold is just the first step to drop out the water? Hard to imagine that a desiccant would be enough, or have the capacity. As long as there's a rotor or piston involved, there will be some oil in the air, too. Be interesting to see what they end up with, and how they measure the output to know it's working.

And yes, you do end up with the coolest junk!:cool2:

Back when pneumatic controls ran all types of plants we always used desiccant dryers for instrument air,
we always had oil separators and filters prior to the dryers.
Depending on were the plant was located would have a lot to do with the dewpoint setpoints for the dryers,
usually at least 10-20 degrees colder then the ambient temperature would get down to.
They would maintain that year round so as to never have water dropping out in low points of the piping.
In many pharmaceutical plants the pharm air systems are set to -40 these systems may have a combination of refrigerated
drys filters and desiccant dryers. The desiccant dryers where the final dryers before the pharm air filters, usually 0.1 micron filters.

Desiccant dryers are normally setup as a pair with one in service and one being regenerated,
they are regenerated by heating while flowing a bit of clean dry air thru them,
I have seen the heat being every thing from electric resistance rod heaters to tubing coils with steam or hot oils.

Yes, desiccant dryers should provide much lower dewpoint than refrigerated. Thanks for the explanation Lou.

Good afternoon, the weather is gorgeous here, with just a few fluffy clouds and a temperature that was perfect for wandering around a nearby town this morning in just shirt sleeves. First time we have been inside a shop together in many months.

Kyle, I have quite a strong Yorkshire accent, which is no problem in the North of England but a rare thing where I now live. Thanks to films and tv shows, the locals around these parts will have far more experience of hearing a wide variety of American accents than mine, so it may actually be quicker if you order the beers while I just smile at the barmaid and pass over my credit card - plastic is a wonderful universal translator.

Roy, you would never guess it if you only read the news headlines, but this world has lots of very good people, just like that lady - and you.

Thanks for the laugh pardner! :) So, are the newscasters primarily London accent? The ones I definitely have to turn on the closed caption for, are the ones who live in the Irish slum areas.

Yes, the best news is not spread usually. Local journalism is dying on the vine, due to the internet. Nobody is buying newspapers much anymore.

Good evening all. 80F for the start, overcast, .1 inch in rain gauge, moderate wind. Windy till front started through, rain began 9AM, dumped 4 in out of gauge about noon. Temp dropped to 69F, after high of 81F. Wife and I walked before rain, then went to boat dealer to get repaired top and new master switch. Got the top but master switch has no faceplate, which is what I need. They will mail new switch or faceplate to me :). did get nap in.
Covid update: Cooke 325 confirmed cases, 26 active cases, Montague 129 confirmed cases, 17 active cases, Grayson 1512 confirmed cases, 75 active cases.
PJ nice work, very glad wife is happy.
Ted nice work as always, nice move to start with old BBQ base.
Dennis if wife does not buy in may not be a good move. garden tractor trannies are one thing I have not done.
Kyle, how is your a1c? My glucose checks around 100, but been able to drop A1c to 5.5.
Roy glad you were able to return wallet, and nice touch getting a card in return. good luck on cat scan
Drew glad light day planned.
Phil Flooring looks very nice so far, good luck with getting floor complete, and with A/C working, and getting your furnace to work. We have low temps in the 50's forecast for next week!
Buppies mud get in your pool again?
Billy slow days can be nice
Ron enjoy the sightseeing. cool pic of turkey and chic
Randy nothing wrong with a little grinding :)
PJ congrats on the anniversary. I feel blessed with my bride as well.
RNG sorry about the beer box fiasco, nice find on the hatch chilis. One of the food trucks here has a mean hatch chili chicken taco. Good luck on alt light fix.
Ted nice improvement on wx hop you get some rain.
Eric interesting thought, that your neighbors would understand Kyle easier than you :)
RS that is a lot of hostas, you will have to be like the English and start calling you lawn the garden!
Lou interesting setup to get air clean and dry. Our first CMM with air bearings needed much cleaner air than we were used to supplying.
Thomas you are not visiting David are you? :licking:
Randy and then they wonder why BP is up.
Bird was raining here by 9 am, dumped 4 in out, and last check .5 more.
RS maybe watering will slow mole.
prayers for all, especially Drew/move, Jay/Peg, Kyle's daughter, David(Moss)/move/sale and Country
stay safe and healthy you all

ok, back to day job

I did power system design out of college for about 10 yrs. Gotta counteract those VARs, the power required in the motor fields.
