Glow plugs on L3010

Howdy. Got a 2002 L3010 HST. Manual says the glow plug light on the dash should come on when I turn the key on. No light comes on. Wonder if it needs to be real cold out, or should it come on anyway? Any ideas?

If your turning key backwards glow plug light should come on.
