Getting ready for Winter?

I never got around to posting this picture last winter. I found a used cab and a used front mount blower for my L3010 last December. I looked at the B3030 but it was just too small and I figured it made more economic sense to upgrade what I had instead of jumping into a L3430 Cab.

It works great. Throws snow fast and I stay warm and dry.

I never hooked up the hydraulics for the chute rotation last winter since I only have a three position loader valve. The regen circuit on the dump prohibits the use of the 3 position valve for the chute rotation.

I have been trying to figure out the best way to solve this problem and I was ready to order the 4-position valve for $600 from the dealer. I figured that this would be the cleanest set-up. The other day it occurred to me that if I switched the hoses on the loader valve and used the lift circuit for the chute rotation and the dump circuit to raise and lower the blower then I could use the valve I already have.

I hooked it up today and everything works great.....just saved $600. Hmmmm. I wonder what I should spend that on now?

I just thought I would pass this along in case anyone else was up against the same problem.

Get some colored tape and color mark the hoses for reconnection next season. That will save you a lot of time trying to remember how you did it last season.... unless you are young and have a good memory.
Now all you need is a heater in the cab to keep you warmer... Snowblowers are great.. Snowblowers with cabs are best!!

Hope you've got a heater in that cab - it makes all the difference. Being able to blow snow while in shirtsleeves and listening to some great music is cool. Put a spreader on your 3ph and you'll be all set.

What is the model number of your snowblower? I have a BS2750B that I run on my BX2230. I wish it had hydraulic chute rotation like yours has. I am thinking of adding that feature to mine and would like to get some ideas.

I have a heater in the cab but it isn't hooked up yet. I just got the adapter from Curtis Cab so hopefully next weekend I'll get the heat working.

ewoz, I'll have to double check the model number tomorrow. Do a search for chute rotation and look for some posts by Von. He used an electric motor for his.

What is the model number of your snowblower? I have a BS2750B that I run on my BX2230. I wish it had hydraulic chute rotation like yours has. I am thinking of adding that feature to mine and would like to get some ideas.

Power window motor works great, cheap too about $25. I added it last year, nice, also added a motor to the chute deflector, about $75.

Do a search you will find info on both of these projects.

And oh yea where is your cab?

I've been thinking of buying an 1850 for mowing and snowblowing. How far does the blower lift off the ground? I have a problem with my current mower/blower in that the blower doesn't lift far enough. I have to keep it in a shed and go up ramps, the blower is so low it would get stuck. Also, what model blower is that? It looks like a different # than what the dealer says he'll mount on the 1850.

Are you going to tap off the bottom of the thermostat housing or taking it off the radiator hoses? Post some pictures when you can. I also have a heater that hasn't been hooked up yet. I dress warm, and try not to stay outside too long. I think that I am a snow bird that forgot to fly South.

Anyone thinking of adding heat to a BX?? If so, I have the 1"T fitting for the radiator hose. I got 2 thinking I could put it in the lower and top hose. It fits the top radiator hose but no place to put it on the bottom radiator hose.

I paid $9.50 for the part plus $8 to ship for a total of $17.50. You can have it for $10 plus what ever it costs to ship, PM me if interested.

I would have to measure it, but I would guess it raises about 8".

I assume you meant this to me?? It is a 2750 from my BX1500. The chute rotator is a Kubota unit I added when I got the BX1850.

How are you going to be returning the coolant to the engine if the adapter won't fit the bottom radiator hose? On mine, I was thinking of returning to the block where the block heater goes and installing a heater in the lower hose. If the heater return won't fit the lower hose, then the block heater idea won't work either. How do they do it on the later model BX engine that doesn't have the tapped hole in the side of the block?

I had the heater outlet tapped above the thermostdt so I have to get the tractor warm to get any heat. In the picture they taped it below the thermostadt. I just cover half the radator screen with plastic and it runs fine.
