MF 1547
Hi,

I have a compact MF and recently have not been able to select the tortoise range. The lever moves all the way to the back but it is not registered past the last neutral.

Does anyone have any ideas as to what the issue could be? It is a bit upsetting because it has only done 400 hours.

Thanks,

Kevin

Hi, I do not have a pic currently but it is a Massey Ferguson 1547 compact tractor with cab.

The pic is of the same model and the gear range is the lever closest to the bottom of the picture, I can move the leaver all the way along the slot in the tractor trim of the wheel arch without an issue.

Thanks,

Kevin

You may want to check the control cable that runs from the lever? Ken Sweet

Not sure if it’s the same mechanism on your 1547 but on my GC1720 there is a simple mechanical linkage that rotates a shaft that goes into the transmission housing when you move the lever. If you look underneath the fender while moving the lever you should be able to see if it’s a linkage problem.

Hi,

I have managed to take a look and take a pic, effectively the lever is the arm attached to the cylinder going from the top of the picture downwards.

Looking at when the leaver is moved the end of the cylinder moves outwards a little way. Does anyone have the same system, can it be tightened? Would that be what the issue is because if you push it back close to where it is connected to it is still not in gear.

Thanks,

Kevin

From here it looks like you nave a loose roll pin that is sticking out. Hard to tell from a picture but it looks like the roll pin is supposed to connect the lever mechanism to the shaft and the pin has loosened and may have slipped out to the point it is letting the lever move without moving the shaft.
