When I was younger and giving more regularly the Red Cross started calling me all the time. I finally told them to only call when they had a drive in one particular place. The lady on the phone agreed to do that with no problem and actually thanked me for the instructions.

Second story.

After giving platelets a couple weeks ago I found out that a friend, married to J, my wife's first cousin, had an abscess on his colon removed and it turned out to be a malignant tumor. So he will have to undergo chemo. They are going to inform me when he is scheduled to start and I will donate every two weeks as long as he is undergoing the treatment. Supposedly I can designate the platelets will go to him. I will also try to get others to donate for him. (Especially the guy who was recently divorced by J's botch sister. Talk about a slap in the face.....)

Anyway. I do NOT like the Red Cross. Local people are okay but the national organization is rotten to the core. But this is for a good cause and I will do what I can.

I've got an appt tomorrow, but only because I have a day off and can take the time. I was getting a call every day for months leading up to today.

I haven't had time. Three funerals, repainting one side of house, babysitting grands, and general retired busyness. Also waiting to find out if a friend starting chemo will need mine. But I plan to as soon as it slows down around here.
