I think switchgrass or remnant sugarcane would be better than corn ethanol

If going ethanol, I'd look at a ford 8xx or 9xx that was on propane?
I'd also look at biodiesel closer than ethanol...

After I started this thread I started looking closer at biodiesel.

I would be very concerned about running 100% ethanol. The ethanol will destroy the seals in the fuel system of a gas tractor. I am in the parts industry and we will not warranty anything that has been used in over E20. There are no fuel system seals available either OEM or aftermarket that will take 100% ethanol available for any tractor that I am aware of, all the companies only rate to E20. Ethanol will do nasty things to seals, there is a good chance that the tractor will spend more time in the shop then in the field if a high ethanol fuel is run.

What about 100% biodiesel?

Biodiesel is fine on older non high common rail injection engines. Just replace the rubber hoses with ones that can handle bio. Also when you start using it keep a fuel filter or two handy. Bio will remove all the built up crud in the tank.
