If she's like my wife I'd say something like, "What? You never noticed that hoe before. Well yeah, it came with the tractor when I bought it. I just usually don't have it attached." I keep her so confused with all my stuff she doesn't know what all I got.

Ductape, That shiny new hoe just will not look right on your tractor. You will have to do a major cleanup and paint job to make it seem proper. And the color does not match at all. I do not know you should have passed on it.
Way to go!! I am happy for you. You really MUST post some pics when you get it mounted. I would like some very specific pics on the mount that you fab up for it.

I love garage sales?
Last week my wife dragged me to a couple and "wow" an old widow (of many years) had a stihl 036 chainsaw and a riding mower and a leaf blower (none running) $40 for the saw (Just needed a throttle spring) and $75 for the mower (Transmission drive belt ) $5 for the blower (Fuel prime bubble)I sold the saw for $300 and the mower is a keeper as a second helper and $100 for the blower ,Just for 1 evening fixing in my garage ?

Congratulations on your find!
I hit garage sales whenever I can. Most of the time all I find is clothes and pots. Occasionally I hit the jackpot. This spring I got a craftsman tiller for $10. I changed out the carb on it for one I had on an engine with no compression and sold the tiller 10 hours later for $85.
I've picked up a few power tools for cheap too. I got a B&D drill bit sharpener for $5 a few weeks ago and I've resurrected about $50 worth of drill bits. I think the sharpener puts a better edge on them than the factory.

I had to post this where someone would appreciate it.
I stopped at a garage sale last weekend. I bought a few gas cans for a buck a piece; but as I was going to leave, I took a closer look at the white box that had been sitting next to the gas cans. It was still taped shut from the store and still had the plastic straps around it. It even still had a somewhat faded $120 price tag on it from Tool Liquidators. As I tipped the box I saw the side of it said "3.5 Gallon Parts Washer". I bought it for $10.
When I picked up the parts washer I saw and old school D-handle 1/2" drill in the crate that was behind the parts washer. I got it for $4.
P.S. Still waiting for some pics of your new backhoe in action.

Some people are just lucky, I guess. I've admittedly seldom stopped at garage sales, but I can't recall ever seeing anything I'd want to buy at one.

There's a difference between some guy who runs a perpetual garage sale and sells junk, and a one-time estate or moving sale where you can find some real bargains like Ductape's implements.
My last find was the 230 amp AC welder I've been describing over in the Welder Plunge thread. It's equivalent to a Lincoln 225AC or Hobart LX235AC and cost $50.
