Not making any progress at all, been having to many sunshiny Saturdays, and my sons been out straight trying to catch up on shingle orders. Last Saturday was a golden opportunity to work on lathe bench but no power so it's kicked ahead a couple more weeks, as of right now the ETA for up and running is Memorial Day weekend, you can mark my words on that, but use chalk................

I'm a inch closer today. I decided on 1/8" steel for the lathe stand top because steel is more versatile and easiest to work with, next might be aluminum, wood, cement, what ever's would come under designated purpose applications.

I called first to the steel place make sure they was open, they said yes but hvae to order over phone, pick it up when I get there cant come in to office, so when I showed up I called again then in a few minutes the lady came out with the sales slip and showed where the steel sheets was. So we go out to the shop and the attendant said you can back the pickup in if you want and I'll lift with the crane, I said it's not that heavy is it, I started to pick up the 4x6 piece and said uh yeah lets back the pickup in.......

Moving right along..... Picture sequence is from right to left, ended up making the bench a wee bit bigger, 26X62.

Had to add about a foot on the back panel, then we slid the bench over to it's location, then set the back panel upright, screwed to wall, tack weld to bottom, un-screw back panel slide back away from wall then weld joint, then clean up and paint, busy day.

Now the next part will be bolting down, framing the lathe bench in so's to keep dust off, but least now it's finally off the floor.
